ason French has undergone years of treatment for his depression without any improvement. He says he wants access to assisted death so he can die on his own terms.Ian Willms for The New York Times
Canada already has one of the most liberal assisted death laws in the world, offering the practice to terminally and chronically ill Canadians.
But under a law scheduled to take effect in March assisted dying would also become accessible to people whose only medical condition is mental illness, making Canada one of about half a dozen countries to permit the procedure for that category of people.

‘Culture Of Death’: Canada On Track To Let Doctors Offer Assisted Suicide To Mentally Ill People
Canada is set to offer assisted suicide to Canadians with mental illnesses, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
The law would make Canada one of the few countries that allow individuals struggling with mental illness to seek assisted suicide through a doctor, according to the NYT. It is set to go into effect in March, and has drawn condemnation from lawmakers and mental health professionals, the latter of whom fear it will undercut their efforts to help their patients and prevent them from committing suicide.

Within 15 years Canada (as well as some states) will offer "aid in dying" to whomever wants it, for whatever reason.
Soylent green's "going home" made real.
And you'll be able to order one of these from amazon, either in kit form or assembled and ready-to-use:

Because the entire title doesn't show up...thought this was about how many people die from doctors' medical mistakes or misdiagnosis. :bolt:

Not soon - already. They've been killing off healthy people in Canada for several months now.

Why is this even news? We have been practicing euthanasia in the USA for at least 28 years that I know of. My father was euthanized in 1995 by doctors, and no one was consulted in advance.
The medical community calls it comfort measures. I watched my father's best friend decide to pull the plug in 2000, and docs killed him in two hours subsequent to the decision.

I think this just applies to people with mental health issues, not physical heath issues.
If you are suicidal you can get a script to overdose in the privacy of your home.

oh gosh, I am sorry.
Oh no, I don't think it's necessary to merge. It was an old thread. I just thought people might find the previous discussion interesting.
