The Clancy jury just told the judge it cannot reach a unanimous decision. He sent them back to keep working. That is not diligence. That is a panel that will not do the obvious job.
The facts are not in dispute. Three children are dead. Their mother killed them. A courtroom that needs days, then a deadlock note, to admit that is a shameful display.
Someone in that room would rather protect a story about the defendant than name what happened to Cora, Dawson, and Callan. Mental illness can be part of the file. It is not a veto on the verdict.
Keep going until they say guilty, or admit they will not. Either way the country can see it. Justice for those children should not have required a pep talk from the bench.
