MI Secretary of State Benson: Trump Trying to ‘Create Chaos and Confusion About Our Democracy’

Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who is the Democratic nominee for governor, said President Donald Trump is trying “to create chaos and confusion about our democracy.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Yeah. Let me ask you about your current job. Two million Michiganders vote by mail. Ballots go out on the 19th, and a federal judge again this past Friday blocked the postal service from enforcing President Trump’s new mail ballot rules. He tried to put those in through executive order. Do you see any impact on voting in your state?

BENSON: Well, first we have to see this as the latest attempt by this Trump administration to try to create chaos and confusion about our democracy. We’ve been battling this for the better part of six years now since 2020. And what we will do here in Michigan is continue to ensure that states run elections. And that means in Michigan, where citizens have a right to vote by mail, we’ll use every tool in our toolbox to ensure they know the truth about our elections. We’ll follow the law. We’ll protect the right to vote. And that’s why, frankly, state officials who know how to do that and stand up to the president are so important right now. Because this isn’t just about 2026, this is about 2028, when we will need a governor in Michigan who will know how to protect democracy and protect our voters’ voices and votes. I’ve done that as Secretary of State. And notably, when my opponent lost his last statewide race in 2020, he did not stand by the will of the voters. He joined the president in trying to overturn and undermine that election. That makes him unfit to be governor in this moment, and it’s why it’s all the more important that in this race, Michigan is led by a governor who knows how to protect democracy and protect citizens’ right to vote from home.

Petraus might be right. But it might also be that Russia is dreadfully covering up the number of dead which would be why casualties are not making it to hospitals.

It would not be out of character for Russian commanders in the field to kill their own wounded in order to conserve resources. A wounded man can require help from two or more other soldiers. A dead soldier doesn't.

Count on the Russians to consider this the same as they did in previous wars.

In the last couple of days, I saw a video of a Russian truck loaded with the corpses of Russian soldiers.  While the truck was moving down a dirt path, a soldier was pushing bodies off the back.

Corpses that make it back home incur a cost to Mother Russia - primarily funeral costs and bonuses to their next of kin.  Corpses that don't make it back get reported as MIA - no funeral costs, no bonuses.  There are many corrupt Russian officers that see this 'SMO' as a money making opportunity.  They beat and torture soldiers to extract their bank card info, then send them into the meat grinder to die.

For those just recently entering the era of ‘great awakening’, let this type of nonsense propaganda serve as a starting point to realize what CTH has described from the outset of the Ukraine-Russia ‘conflict’ as, essentially, World War Reddit.

There are approximately 140 million Russian people living in Russia.  Of that population there are approximately 60 million males.  Of the 60 million males there are approximately 20 million men aged 18-35.  Additionally, 75% of the Russian population lives in urban centers, ie. cities.

If 1.4 million men (out of 20 million) were killed or wounded in the Ukraine conflict, the hospitals and convalescent facilities in around the cities of Kazan, Moscow and St Petersburg would be full; at least significantly beyond ordinary medical capacity.  They are not. Not even close.

First off, Petraeus hasn't been CIA director for fourteen years.  So, let's not characterize this as 'CIA propaganda'.

There are some assumptions made above that I would like to address.  First, the assumption that all these deaths fall in the 18-35 age group.  If you have seen any of the video evidence, it is clear that a sizeable number of these casualties are from the 35-60 age group.  Russians also look eastward and southward to fill their ranks, leaving cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhy Novgorod, Voronez, and Rostov insulated from recruitment efforts.  They have also recruited heavily in foreign countries with promises of jobs and good wages in Russia, only to have their passports taken away and replaced with rifles and helmets.

The citizens of Moscow and St. Petersburg have been completely insulated from the 'special military operation' up until the point they see Ukrainian drones striking their Wildberries warehouses.  THIS is what they complain about.  Not that their cousin or neighbor or friend-of-a-friend lost limb or life in Ukraine.  Because their not seeing that.  They have no clue that it was some poor bastard from Novosibirsk or Omsk or Dagestan who got tricked into signing a contract and was forced into the meat grinder.  That's not propaganda.  That's fact.

Visit the urban areas of the eastern districts.  You will get a totally different picture from the serfs living there.  They will show you the massive cemeteries that didn't exist five years ago.  The only 'propaganda' here is the linked story above, posted by none other than Sundance.

But hey, don't take my word for it.  Just look at Russian recruiting.  How many times has Russia issued new targets for new recruitment, and how many times have those targets been met?  Yet their military has less members today than it did before their last recruitment initiative.  And then there's now talk of mobilization this fall.  Why would they need that if they weren't losing over 1,000 troops per day?  Do the math.  But don't base it on invalid assumptions of what you would be seeing in Moscow while ignoring the remaining serfdom.
