Air Force Special Operators Developing Drone-Launched Swarms
5/3/2024
By Josh Luckenbaugh

Air Force Special Operations Command is taking advantage of “significant advancements” in autonomous aircraft technology to have their drones do a lot more than the traditional counterterrorism missions.

One concept will transform its MQ-9 medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned systems from surveillance aircraft to motherships that can dispatch smaller drones to perform a variety of missions.

The Adaptive Airborne Enterprise, or A2E, is a major part of that transformation, said its program director Col. Trey Olman.

The goal of the program is to take advantage of the “significant advancements” in automation and unmanned systems in recent years “to bring some new opportunities and capabilities to bear for AFSOC and for the DoD,” Olman said in an interview.

Biden Regime Cuts Off Ammunition Supplies to Israel as Advisors Panic Over Electoral Threat from Anti-Israel Democrats
by Ben Kew May. 5, 2024 6:20 pm

The Biden regime has cut off ammunition supplies to Israel as they attempt to appease the growing anger among the left of the Democratic Party over America’s support for the war against Hamas.

According to a report from Axios, the decision to put a hold on the ammunition shipment caused panic among the Israeli security services and is intended to prevent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from proceeding with an invasion of Rafah.

Axios notes:

The Biden administration last week put a hold on a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, two Israeli officials told Axios. It is the first time since the Oct. 7 attack that the U.S. has stopped a weapons shipment intended for the Israeli military.

The incident raised serious concerns inside the Israeli government and sent officials scrambling to understand why the shipment was held, Israeli officials said.

Marines, Navy Crafting Long-Term Fixes for Amphibious Warship Shortages
MALLORY SHELBOURNE
MAY 3, 2024 10:45 AM

The sun rises over the USS Wasp (LHD-1) while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, April 12, 2024. US Marine Corps
WASHINGTON, D.C. – While the long-term future for the amphibious fleet is secured with a Navy commitment to 31 amphibious warships in the Fiscal Year 2025 budget, the short-term problem of getting Marines to sea is less settled.

Maintenance issues with the Navy’s aging Wasp-class big-deck amphibious warships and Whidbey Island-class dock landing ships have abbreviated Marine Expeditionary Unit deployments, forcing the Navy and Marine Corps to cobble together less-than-ideal solutions to get MEUs to sea, officials from both services said this week.

To that end, the Navy and Marine Corps are nearing an agreement that would uniformly define amphibious ship readiness requirements, as the services face maintenance challenges that have led to delayed deployments.

The CNO and Commandant agree that the services must work toward a goal of 80 percent readiness for the fleet of 31 L-class ships, which should include 21 amphibious transport docks and 10 big-deck amphibious assault ships, Smith said Thursday at the annual Modern Day Marine symposium in Washington, D.C.
