Prosecutor says Trump's social media post is a 'call to arms' for followers before backtracking

Manhattan prosecutor Joshua Steinglass said that one of Trump's posts on Truth Social was a "call to arms" to his followers — which was immediately objected by Trump attorney Todd Blanche.

"IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I'M COMING AFTER YOU!" Trump wrote in the Aug. 4, 2023 Truth Social.

“It’s a throng of his followers, it’s call to arms!” Steinglass said, only to back track after a side bar with the judge.

“I’m not saying it was Mr. Trump’s intention to get his throngs involved… I’m just going to skip to the next one," Steinglass said.

Jonathan Turley inside court: Judge allowing prosecution to read unrelated quotes from Trump books

Merchan is now allowing the prosecutors to quote from books on how Trump said that you should attack those who attack you. How is this related to the charge of falsified documents hiding an election violation? It does not seem to matter in the courtroom of Judge Juan Merchan.

Part of the defendant’s strategy is to intimidate witnesses to make sure other potential witnesses think twice.

Gutfeld: America is still no closer to knowing what Trump did wrong

Fox News Channel's Greg Gutfeld said Tuesday that Americans are still "no closer to knowing" what former President Donald Trump "did wrong" as the prosecution continues to make its case in the courtroom to the jury.

"Despite six weeks, 22 witnesses, and tawdry testimony about spankings, America's still no closer to knowing what Donald Trump did wrong, except pay a scummy lawyer who stole $60,000 from him," Gutfeld said during Tuesday's episode of "The Five."

"The ex-president's lawyer, Todd Blanche, arguing that there was no intent to defraud and no conspiracy to influence the 2016 election," Gutfeld continued. "And as for Bragg's star witness, Blanche saying, 'Michael Cohen is the G.L.O.A.T, he's the greatest liar of all time. You cannot send someone to prison based on the words of Michael Cohen.'"

"The judge not happy about that last line, telling jurors to ignore the suggestion that the former president could be sent to prison if convicted," Gutfeld added, further describing the scene in courtroom scene on Tuesday.

Gutfeld said the prosecution was "busy trying to clean up Cohen's theft and lying by saying, 'We didn't pick Michael Cohen, Trump did.'"

Gutfeld's remarks came as the prosecution continued its closing remarks late into the evening on Tuesday.

‘Whatever they can get him for is fine with me’

‘WHATEVER THEY CAN GET HIM FOR IS FINE WITH ME.‘ The trial of former President Donald Trump is heading toward a conclusion. For those who at the beginning thought the case was weak and politically motivated, the presentation of the prosecution’s evidence has made it seem even weaker and more politically motivated. A conviction will not change that.

On the other side, though, some in the anti-Trump world who were originally skeptical about the case’s merits have come to believe that it is actually stronger than they first thought. That was not necessarily because the case is actually stronger but because, as events unfolded, it became clear that the current trial, in which Manhattan Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleges that Trump committed bookkeeping offenses as part of a conspiracy to corrupt the 2016 presidential election, represents Democrats’ only chance to try Trump, possibly to convict him, and perhaps even to imprison him before the election in November.

“Not all that long ago, I thought that the trial currently being held … seemed the least serious of the cases against him,” wrote George Conway, the conservative lawyer-turned-Biden megadonor, in the Atlantic earlier this month. “But I feel the need to admit error. The truth is, I’ve come around to the view that People v. Trump is, in at least some ways, the perfect case to put Trump in the dock for the first time, and — I hope, but we’ll see — perhaps prison.”

Biden puts his reelection before national security
By

.

President Joe Biden’s strategy toward Iran, Russia, Hamas, China, and North Korea now has one centering objective: ensuring those adversaries don’t complicate his reelection prospects.

Recognizing this political reality is important for two reasons. First, because Biden’s strategy is undermining American security and that of our allies and interests. Second, because it utterly guts Biden’s tedious claim that he always puts patriotic leadership before his own personal interests. Biden often uses that claim to contrast himself with his 2024 presidential election challenger, former President Donald Trump. But while it’s true that Trump is generally incapable of viewing the national interest and his own personal interests as distinct concerns, Biden now shows the same fallibility.

Indeed, Biden’s hypocrisy here is striking. In his inaugural address, the president pledged to “lead not merely by the example of our power but by the power of our example. We will be a strong and trusted partner for peace, progress, and security.”

Not so much.

Take Iran. Biden was happy to authorize a statement of sympathy following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi. He’s far less willing to confront Iran’s most significant and growing threat. As the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, the United States is opposing British and French moves to censure Iran at an International Atomic Energy Agency meeting. That censure would reflect Iran’s ever-increasing stockpile of near-weapons-grade-purity nuclear material. Considering that Iran isn’t exactly renowned for its medical research (which enriched nuclear material can support), this stockpile is patently designed to provide Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with a means of rapidly breaking out toward a nuclear weapons capability. Some might describe this as problematic.

DNC Planning to Virtually Nominate Joe Biden Before Convention

Elizabeth Weibel 28 May 2024

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is planning to virtually nominate President Joe Biden as the party’s presidential nominee ahead of their convention in August.

DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison issued a statement on Tuesday in which he explained that the Democrat Party would be taking matters into their own hands and holding a “virtual roll,” in order to ensure that Biden appears on the ballot in all 50 states, according to the Hill.

Under Ohio law, political parties are required to certify their presidential and vice presidential nominees at least 90 days before an election. However, the Democrat Party’s convention is scheduled to occur between August 19-22, roughly 75 days before the November election.

“Joe Biden will be on the ballot in Ohio and all 50 states, and Ohio Republicans agree,” Harrison said in a statement. “But when the time has come for action, they have failed to act every time, so Democrats will land this plane on our own.”

Harrison continued to explain that the Democrat Party would nominate Biden through a “virtual roll call” in order to “ensure that Republicans can’t chip away at our democracy through incompetence or partisan tricks.”

Lawmakers in Ohio gathered for a special session on Tuesday in order to discuss Biden appearing on the ballot, days after Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) called for the special session.

Ohio Senate Republicans had passed a bill that would ensure Biden appeared on the ballot, while also preventing “foreign contributions to ballot issue campaigns,” according to CBS News.

Jonathan Turley inside court: Judge is letting 'false claim' by prosecution 'stand uncontradicted'

Steinglass just said that it is a fact that these were campaign violations. Nothing from the judge and nothing for the defense. This jury has now been told dozens of times that the payments were campaign violations and the Judge is letting that false claim stand uncontradicted.

He literally said that Trump lied in denying that these were campaign contributions because they were in fact such violations. Merchan is treating this all as argument. However, Steinglass is making a statement of law that is contradicted by a wide variety of experts.

In all fairness, I'd bet close to 54% of the GOP would prefer someone besides Trump.
