For the first time in its history, MSNBC ranked number one in both total viewers and the key adults 25-54 demographic during primetime for a full week among the big three cable news networks.

For the week of May 15, the network averaged 2.44 million viewers with 611,000 in the key demo from 8 p.m.-11 p.m., beating both Fox News and CNN for the week. Four MSNBC programs were number one for the week in total viewers in their respective time periods: "The Rachel Maddow Show," "Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell", "The 11th Hour" and the midnight re-air of "The Rachel Maddow Show." Maddow had the top ranked non-sports program in all of cable for the week......

Maybe people don't want to watch pro-government cheerleading?

People should remember that even when Fox was the "top-rated" cable news network, it still only drew about three million viewers a day. That's about one percent or less of the American population.
A few years ago I had a conversation with a very liberal brother of mine who was ranting about all the terrible right-wing propaganda Fox news was spreading. I informed him of the tiny number of people who actually watch Fox news and compared it to the numbers that the networks and other lib cable news shows get.
He denied the alphabet news networks were biased, and he was still irate that Fox influenced anybody.
I could only laugh at him.

You are watching a microcosm of what is happening to the GOP itself right now.  Wait until the ratings come in around 2018.

When you dump your core and your principles to adopt that which you pretend you are opposed to, and rebrand it as 'fair and balanced' or 'Populist' - while adopting those things that were once anathema to your viewers/voters - this is what happens.

You come in last.

Bleh. This is about ratings and not anything to do with election year politics. You think the public is going to vote in the filth at the CA Rat state convention this week? Ain't happening. As for FOX viewers want Bill O'Rielly and not some retread in a bow tie from MSNBC.
