Probably true, in my case. I didn't like the question about what kind of meal and movie I'd bring along on a "hot date" with Ann Coulter, because none of them really worked for me. In my case, I'd cook dinner for her myself and then have us watch Casablanca on the couch with a couple of glasses of brandy. Hey: it's my fantasy.

Both :laugh: Soccer is simply boring. Gridiron is even more boring plus they wear pads. Rugby players tape their ears so they don't get torn off, and that is about it. :laugh:

Actually - you ain't far off. I know you self identify as a liberal, but to me it seems you are more a liberal from the 70's, not the current Progressive crop. Decent enough, want small government, transparency and a reasonable safety net for those who actually need it.
Now THAT is a sport. Rugby players are hardcore.
Damn right - only better fun than watching rugby is playing it :laugh: Biting, punching and eye gouging is discouraged but not actually banned.

So does my sister. She has a severely handicapped child, so doesn't get out much. Even so, we know better than to visit during NASCAR, unless we want to be quiet and watch it with her.

Waterboarding does no serious physical harm. It scares the person under interrogation, no more.
My fraternity pledging and hell week was worse than waterboarding.
Yes, if I had ten candidates, knowing just one was the terrorist, I would water board them all.
Realistically I doubt we waterboard those with probability of less than 10% of being the terrorists.

Actually, I have. I've also been hit by a taser and have been exposed to CS gas. You are right that you would be okay and survive the encounter, but you have no idea how horrible and painful the process actually is. It is absolutely torturous, and I challenge anybody that disagrees to have it done to them. Also, if you think we don't water board people with very low chances of being actual terrorists, you are wrong. Torture is pointless, because the person being tortured is just going to tell you whatever you want to hear (true or not) to get you to stop torturing them.

Very rarely, if ever, is the situation that black and white. For the sake of argument though, I will honestly answer your question. Yes, I would, if I knew the lives of that many people were at stake, and that one of the people I was torturing had the answers to questions that could save their lives. I wasn't saying that it is never a technique that can be useful, and I wasn't advocating its complete removal, but I disagreed with you downplaying the severity of what it means to be water boarded. It hurts, a lot, and it is incredibly terrifying.

When I was in training, I was used as the demonstration victim, with CS gas--it was horrible. I was surprised, and very very shook up.
Later we had another course on the range, where we would be hit with CS. I had no choice, but to employ the training, and do it.
I have been held underwater by waves, and scared there as well. I volunteered for that.
And like I mentioned, I went through fraternity hazing which younger crybabies now call their mothers and the police, over.
We volunteered for that as well, and had the chance all along to walk away.
