Title: U.S. Conservatives Outnumber Liberals by Narrowing Margin
Post by: 240B on January 04, 2017, 01:20:10 am

by Lydia Saad

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Many more Americans have considered themselves politically conservative than liberal since the early 1990s. That remained the case in 2016, when an average of 36% of U.S. adults throughout the year identified themselves as conservative and 25% as liberal. Yet that 11-percentage-point margin is half of what it was at its peak in 1996 and is down from 14 points only two years ago.

Swell. More shady polling, when polling has been proven to be irrelevant, just so a narrative can be pushed.

We just had another election when the Rats were decimated, but I should believe Gallops nebulous sampling to tell me that Liberalism is on the move up.

The poll does not take into consideration a huge majority of self-identifying Conservatives that have no problems whatsoever with cultural liberalism and behemoth government as long as the party running it has an 'R' after it's name.

The truth is that true and principled Conservatives are in a horrible minority, and have been shrinking on a yearly and possibly daily basis.

Yep, the election of Trump proves your point.

   Voting for Trump and being a Conservative are not the same thing.

True that... unfortunately most obnoxious Trump supporters loudly proclaim they are conservatives... :shrug:

John Hinderaker on the same:

A more serious question is, if there are so many more conservatives than liberals, why don’t we do better politically? The answer is, I think, some combination of the following: 1) Liberals dominate influential positions in the press, universities, big business, and the arts (Hollywood, television, the music industry, etc.). 2) Liberals vote loyally and monolithically for Democrats, while conservatives are more critical of the Republican Party and are more apt to vote selectively, or not at all–and even, in a fair number of inexplicable cases, for Democrats. 3) Liberals tend to have financial interests at stake that make them more dedicated to politics than conservatives. 4) Because they love government–or possibly for some more arcane reason–liberal politicians tend to be more adept than conservative politicians. 5) Conservatives actually do do well, and in fact are ascendant at present. So quit complaining.

@INVAR

I'd go one step further. I'd argue that a crap-ton of libtards won't actually use the word "liberal" to describe themselves because they are "not going to be labeled." Like this guy:

Once you realize that they won't even let you label THEIR GENDER, you have to understand that they honestly believe they are "moderates."

Voting for McMuffin/Castle/Alf, people who accomplished little more than breathing air, and being Conservative was absolutely hilarious in it's spectacular failure.
