Masks outdoors?  Stop the Insanity!!!!!  It's summertime.  Time to be outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air.

So, are they implying that the vaccines don't work?????

St. Louis mandates masks indoors regardless of vaccination status, recommends masks outdoors

St. Louis County in Missouri is mandating face masks for everyone over the age of 5 when indoors regardless of vaccination status amid the spread of the delta variant, officials announced Friday.

Masks are also "strongly encouraged" for groups when outdoors.

"We’ve lost more than 500 St. Louisans to COVID-19, and if our region doesn’t work together to protect one another, we could see spikes that overwhelm our hospital and public health systems," Dr. Fredrick Echols, acting director of health for the City of St. Louis, said Friday.

St. Louis County reported 241 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bumping the 7-day average up to 212, which is slightly higher than the level that it was at in mid-April. The county's average test positivity rate has risen to 9.4% over the past week, the highest it has been since late January.

Statewide, cases are also reaching levels not seen since January as Missouri reported 2,865 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch analysis. ...............

The latest mandate includes the fading, leftist suburban county of St. Louis, as well as the city.  Seems that certain groups would force everyone to wear a mask, rather than seeking a vaccination.

She's the PA in the City of STL. Her counterpart in the County is just as idiotic and leftist, however. Two separate jurisdictions; twice the stupidity.

When citizens in St Louis are required to jump up and down on one leg screaming "SQUAWK!"... half the population will move out of the city. The other half will comply submissively.

STL County Council could vote to overturn mask mandate Tuesday night

CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Only one day after it went into effect, a mask mandate in St. Louis County might be overturned Tuesday.

The mandate will be discussed at Tuesday evening's St. Louis County Council meeting, and lots of public comments on the matter are expected. The mandate took effect Monday and was put in place by St. Louis County Executive Sam Page and St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones. It requires everyone wear a mask in indoor public settings, regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reversed course Tuesday on some masking guidelines, recommending that even vaccinated people return to wearing masks indoors in parts of the U.S. where the coronavirus is surging.

Several members of the St. Louis County Council have spoken out against the mandate saying it violates a recently passed state law that requires input from a governing body such as a county council.

"Why weren't we brought into the loop, why didn't we have a chance to have input on this? I represent 142,000 people, the vast majority do not want masks. the vast majority. I represent them and I should be able to have a voice for them," said Councilman Tim Fitch. ... CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Only one day after it went into effect, a mask mandate in St. Louis County has been repealed.

The mandate was discussed at Tuesday evening's St. Louis County Council meeting, and many members of the public spoke out, mostly against the mandate. Many speakers said it is an issue of freedom, while one said the mandate could be helpful.

Interim St. Louis County Health Director Faisal Khan told the council that data backs up far a mandate, citing rising hospitalizations and an increasing number of younger COVID-19 patients. ...

The vote to terminate the mandate was 5-2. A spokesman for Page said he will respond to the vote at a press conference Wednesday. Before the meeting, Clancy told News 4 she believes lawsuits will be filed concerning the council's vote. The mandate is still in effect in St. Louis City.

No worries there. I've been following this story because I lived in St. Louis County for 19 years (employed by county government for 7 or 8 years).

A Missouri circuit judge ruled on Thursday that St. Louis County could not enforce its mask mandate amid pending litigation, The Associated Press reported.

"This court's decision is purely one of the relevant laws," Circuit Judge Ellen "Nellie" Ribaudo said in her order, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "The court notes that the COVID-19 pandemic has been a political issue since it first emerged in this country and has continued to be a political flash point for many."

A mask mandate was issued by St. Louis County Executive Sam Page on July 26. The same day, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a law suit against the measure, the Post-Dispatch reported.

The County Council voted in favor of rescinding it the next day, but Page maintained that the mask mandate remained effective. Ribaudo prevented the mandate from enforcement after she issued a temporary restraining order on Aug. 3.
