I wish it was just that easy. I've worked over 30 years with some Yankees who could never learn to be a Texan. At least they left Texas once they retired.

Well, shame on them and good riddance. Daddy wasn't born here but the Army sent him here in WW2 and never left. Pretty sure that had something to do with marrying Mother in 1945. :yowsa:
Not everyone can rise to the occasion of being a Texan.

My folks were from Georgia and Louisiana. My mom served in the Army and my dad in the Navy. They moved to Houston after WWII, married here in 46, and stayed here.

I don't love it, but this little old lady has just endured what I hope is the worst summer for at least a couple of decades. But praise the Lord for air conditioning. Texans can be found using their A/C even in the winter.
True story. I recently went 6 winters without a heater. I knew I would be having to replace the A/C and all the ducting soon, so I declined to spend $ on the heater and started saving for when the A/C gave up the ghost. We had a couple of 100-year freezes during that time, but I never lost power and was able to park myself under my electric blanket. I couldn't have withstood a winter in the colder parts of the states, but winters in Texas without a heater are doable. Summers without an A/C are NOT. 888what

When I bought my home in 1985 I discovered that it still had the original 3phase air conditioner. I once read that at one time Houston had more home 3 phase power than anywhere else in the country to power air conditioners. I no longer have a 3phase airconditioner, But I still have 3phase power to my house.

I couldn't take the heat, either.
More than 75, and I'm feelin' too hot already.
I prefer the forests and hills of New England, anyway.
PA/WV aren't bad, but that's probably "as far south" as I could go.

I've always said I catch a chill when it drops under 80.
When you live in the heat though, you should keep your body acclimatized to the heat.

I was born in Texas, had the good fortune to visit many places on this globe, and never found anyplace I like better than Texas. I'll always be a Texan!
