AP analysis: 99.9% of COVID hospitalizations and 99.2% of deaths in May were unvaccinated people

https://hotair.com/allahpundit/2021/06/25/ap-analysis-99-9-of-covid-hospitalizations-and-99-2-of-deaths-in-may-were-unvaccinated-people-n398970

Quote
Offhand I don’t see how the percentage of unvaccinated people could be higher for hospitalizations than it is for deaths. Isn’t the latter always a fraction of the former? Did a higher share of vaccinated people who fell gravely ill from COVID decide to tough it out at home instead of going to the ER than the unvaccinated did?
...
Anyway, the point is that Rochelle Walensky was right. Nearly every COVID death in the United States is preventable now, which makes every death that much more tragic. The AP reports:

Quote
An Associated Press analysis of available government data from May shows that “breakthrough” infections in fully vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 of more than 853,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations. That’s about 0.1%.

And only about 150 of the more than 18,000 COVID-19 deaths in May were in fully vaccinated people. That translates to about 0.8%, or five deaths per day on average…

Re Allahpundit's question in his/her first paragraph, the % of hospitalized being higher than for deaths means that some of those hospitalized survived. BTDTGTTS

I'd be interested in similar data from the UK, and include the % breakdown for new cases as well.

I'm wondering how the AP knows this since this should be HIPPA protected information.

Life is wonderful in Massachusetts because of the high vaccination rate.  State of Emergency has been lifted.  Many restrictions have been lifted.  Case numbers, hospitalizations, and deaths have dropped over 90%.

I'm hopeful that Magas recognize the safety and success of vaccination, and choose to get vaccinated.

Probably from CDC data that does not have patients' names, therefore not a HIPAA violation. Is it necessary to explain that hospitals report data without names to their respective states, and that the states in turn report that to the CDC? Never mind. I just did.

The info is 11 days old (14 June), but this article, https://www.barrons.com/articles/uk-vaccinations-delta-variant-rising-51624020189 , indicates that ~65% of those hospitalized with Covid in the UK were unvaccinated, while ~10.4% were fully vaccinated.

Then I definitely don't trust it. Hospitals have been playing all sorts of games with the data they've reported to the CDC.

I guess when you don't like the message that excuse will serve to dismiss the messenger. Maybe you could instead consult

And the CDC has not been the most trustworthy of institutions of late either.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is why the FDA rejected the AstraZeneca vaccine that was at the forefront of the UK's vaccination efforts. It simply doesn't provide enough of a benefit.

Actually, when the entire health industry has been lying about COVID this whole time, I tend to not say 'please sir can I have some more.'

The FDA did not, AFAIK, reject the AZ vaccine, because AZ never requested Emergency Use Authorization.
