  I'll stick with the local cuisine moo goo cat pan from my local Chinese joint.

We used to blow them up with firecrackers as kids.  They loved to hold the lit firecracker as the flew off....then poof.  Was quite fun....

I have ate pan fried hoppers... It can't be much different.

Yep. Same thing.
You definitely want to cook them, to get rid of any parasites they might be carrying.
Also, crickets and locusts are perfectly edible.

Yep. But around here, in the summer, of those, in fact of anything other than skeeters, hoppers are abundant. If you are without in the woods, and the fish ain't on, you can catch a pan full of hoppers in about any forest clearing.

It is amazing how your palate adjusts when you are truly without...

And it's kosher too, btw.

It's easy to prepare Chinese food.

Just take a lawnmower and run over the garden.
