Trump thought 'Access Hollywood' tape was 'pretty standard stuff' guys talked about: Hicks

Hope Hicks testified that Donald Trump thought his comments with Billy Bush in the "Access Hollywood" tape were "pretty standard stuff for two guys chatting with each other."

“I know Mr. Trump felt this wasn’t good," Hicks said, recalling the moment Trump learned about the tape.

She said Trump called it "just two guys talking privately, locker room talk."

"It wasn’t something to get so upset over. He certainly didn’t," Hicks told prosecutors.

She later added, “He felt this was pretty standard stuff for two guys chatting with each other.”

Hicks recalled how she was a "little stunned" about the video that she knew was concerning and would "dominate the news cycle" the next several days.

"Obviously it wasn’t helpful, but there were a lot of layers to it that complicated where we were trying to go with the campaign," Hicks testified about the video, saying it was a "damaging development."

"This was pulling us backwards.”

Roughly 100,000 immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children are expected to enroll in the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance next year under a new directive the Biden administration released Friday.

The move took longer than promised to finalize and fell short of Democratic President Joe Biden’s initial proposal to allow those migrants to sign up for Medicaid, the health insurance program that provides nearly free coverage for the nation’s poorest people.

The U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force are all flying and deploying their V-22 Ospreys again, after the Pentagon’s monthslong grounding was lifted in March.

“We’re back to flying. We got all services back in the sky,” Marine Col. Brian Taylor, the V-22 program manager, said Tuesday during the Modern Day Marine conference. 

Each service had its own plan to get its tiltrotor aircraft flying again after the three-month grounding. All V-22s halted operations in December after a “materiel failure” caused an Air Force Special Operations Command CV-22 crash off the coast of Japan, killing eight airmen.

The program still doesn’t know why the part failed, but Taylor told Defense One they have narrowed down the root cause and identified “all the modes that can possibly end up with this outcome.”
