Suzy Mitchell, 26, whose flat is opposite the venue, reported a huge bang rocking the neighbourhood.
She told the Press Association: “(I) just heard a huge bang from my bed, came out to the front of my apartments (we’re on the top floor so have perfect view) and everyone was running away in big crowds.
“The bang was so big I heard it from my room which is at the back of the apartment blocks.
“Currently lots of emergency services going to and from. But can’t see anything substantial as of yet except fleeing people and lots of cars.”
I was right about the running crowds!

'Confirmed fatalities' after explosions at Ariana Grande concert
HERE are a number of confirmed deaths at Manchester Arena following an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert, police have said.
Twitter users reported that thousands of concert goers fled the arena covered in blood and crying, although it is not immediately clear what the reported "loud bangs" were.
The noises were heard towards the end of the show, with witnesses claiming on social media they believed the bangs were a "gun shot" or a "bomb".

I don't know if this is going to pan out, apparently there is an early report of a balloon bursting. So, we will see; I know for myself, terrorism is already going through my mind.
-
"Some people were screaming they'd seen blood but other people were saying it was balloons busting or a speaker had been popped.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-40007886
So what are we talking about? A huge helium balloon or something?

How would that kill anyone unless they were killed in a stampede
-
I'm gonna say terrorism until something comes forward to prove it otherwise.
-
How would that kill anyone unless they were killed in a stampede
A panic induced stampede would be the only way that would happen.
-
Eyewitness Andy Holey says he saw 'several bodies'
Andy Holey, whose wife and daughter were at the concert, told BBC News that the explosion was near to a ticket office, and he was blown off his feet when it happened.
He said he saw several bodies around him when he came to.

If that is credible, then we have a real witness to a real explosion.

There is no doubt an explosion took place. Many witnesses to the large bang including outside the building.
The question is the source. One report was that it was a suicide bomber. At this point we're just going to have to wait for more definitive reporting.
-
According to Sky News, cabbies are giving free lifts, since the train links are down. Bomb disposal have arrived.

NBC is reporting "it is not at all clear if this is an act of terrorism, or an accidental explosion".

Yep. People stampede too. Sometimes the panic kills more than the thing they are fleeing. This, however sounds like a bomb or two. Not speakers or a balloon.

Why not just go back, edit your original post and add a statement that you thought this was a needless panic over a bursting balloon or speaker (per early reports) and not a terrorist act.
Yes, I saw that someone jumped you AFTER there were more facts and tried to imply you were joking (knowingly) about a terrorist incident, and that was a cheap shot. It would be appropriate for all parties to quit mucking up the thread with a kerfuffle when the OP is a serious matter. Please.

@driftdiver
It's baffling they didn't have better security. Every concert I've been to has had patdowns or metal detectors.

I agree But fox is saying it occurred outside. So There was a police presence but no searches. Apparently the intent was to hit the people as they left the concert.
-
@driftdiver
It's baffling they didn't have better security. Every concert I've been to has had patdowns or metal detectors.
So far, it appears as though the explosion occurred outside. Witness on Sky News was leaving concert with daughter just before conclusion and staff directed her another way to leave. Explosion happened in area where she was originally heading.
-
Why not just go back, edit your original post and add a statement that you thought this was a needless panic over a bursting balloon or speaker (per early reports) and not a terrorist act.
I didn't think anything, I was speculating based on having no evidence at the time. This is obvious to anyone with 2 braincells to rub together, so there is no need to go back and edit anything.

I mean, what does it say when there is literally a massacre at one of her concerts and one of the first thoughts is how terrible she is? Over a dozen dead, countless others maimed, and multiple very personal (and well-deserved, if not at all appropriate at this time) indictments of her are being publicly spoken.
Either people are nastier than they used to be, or she truly is trash.

I cannot imagine the worry and fear of the parents with missing kids.
The police just gave a very brief statement and took no questions.

When it's suicide bombers, to me, that's the worse and it means the West or England, France and Belgium start to have to live like Israel.
They are already busting terrorists every few days there, often at least. So, this means one slipped through their security which seems fairly good.
Remember the articles posted, 10,000 jihadists are in the UK, something like that and that is from a Muslim population that is something like 3,000,000 out of 48,000,000, ball park figures.
We could see more of this and in other places.

I learned in Israel, when this kind of thing was happening every day, that the term 'injured' does not mean what most people think it means. Some of those people will be missing limbs and internal organs. Others will have sever brain injuries. The only reason I bring this up is because most people focus on the number of people killed without realizing that some of those who are labeled 'injured', may as well be dead themselves even if they survive.
Sorry to be depressing. That is not my intent. I just wanted to provide perspective from my own experiences.

Saudi Arabia has helped teach the Salafi teachings but Pakistan seems to be where the idea has grown greatly, it will be interesting to see if this was a Pakistani since I believe a great number of their Muslims in the UK are from there.

A lot of people who are/were there are going to be scarred by this. Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing
Twenty-two people, including children, have been killed and 59 injured in a suicide attack at Manchester Arena.
The blast happened in the foyer at 22:35 BST on Monday at the end of a concert by US singer Ariana Grande.
Police said the lone male attacker, who died in the blast, detonated a homemade bomb.
Relatives are using social media to hunt for missing loved ones, and an emergency number, 0161 856 9400, has been set up.
The prime minister has chaired a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee and is expected to travel to Manchester later.
Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said it was "the most horrific incident" the city had ever faced.
He said the "fast-moving investigation" was now working to establish whether the attacker "was acting alone or as part of a network".
Sixty ambulances attended the incident and those wounded are now being treated at six hospitals around the city.
The UK threat level has been has been judged to be severe for nearly three years - which means an attack is considered highly likely.
But in recent months the tempo of counter terrorist activity has been increasing with - on average - an arrest every day.
After the attack in Westminster by Khalid Masood in March, police and security officials have been warning that further attacks were almost inevitable.
But they also believed that those were more likely to be low-tech involving knives or vehicles. The fact that the Manchester attack involved explosives will worry them.
It may not have been at the level of complexity seen in Paris in 2015, when multiple attackers sent from Syria used guns and suicide belts, but it will still have required planning.
World leaders have expressed solidarity with the UK, including US President Donald Trump, who called those responsible "evil losers".
Police have established a help centre at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, access Gate 11, for anyone who needs assistance in tracing loved ones.
Twitter has been flooded with appeals from relatives and friends of missing concertgoers via the hashtag #MissingInManchester.
Facebook also activated a safety check feature so that people can let their family and friends know they are safe.
The blast happened close to the entrance to Victoria railway and tram station. The station has been closed and all trains cancelled.
Police also carried out a precautionary controlled explosion in the Cathedral Garden area of the city at about 01:32. The force later confirmed it was not a dangerous item.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said the city would "pull together", adding: "That's what we are. That's what we do. They won't win."

British PM: Manchester Bombing Was 'Terrorist Attack,' Identity Of Bomber Known
..
"We now know that a single terrorist detonated his improvised explosive device near one of the exits of the venue, deliberately choosing the time and place to cause maximum carnage and to kill and injure indiscriminately," May said.
May said that "among those killed and injured were many children and young people." She also said that "many of the 59 wounded victims were being treated for "life-threatening injuries" at eight hospitals across Manchester.
This is particularly numbing, I don't believe they have stated the name of who did this ignominious act.

They've become too deeply rooted there thanks to political correctness.
It needs to be a lesson to the US to start taking care of the problem sooner than later before we wake up and find ourselves surrounded.

One of the dead is an 8 year old girl.
Stick a fork in me. I'm done.
Heard they arrested someone. I suppose he's lived longer than 8 dang years.
On a total different but similar vein, two local girls from me are stilll in hospital from the Manhattan Times Square incident last week. Apparently it was Senior Skip Day and a whole group went to the city because that's what teenagers do.
Sorry for being so blue. Today is going to be hard. Children shouldn't. Have to die.

They are still under the EU rules until the official divorce papers are signed by all parties if I understand correctly how it's going right now.
But that being said, and with no offence to EC...the UK has been PC since before the formation of the EU. You think our media is left leaning...watch the BBC or read the Guardian.
They haven't allowed gun ownership in about 60-65 years IIRC. It's a country conditioned to PC and views on immigration that Liberals here are trying to force on us as we speak.
We however have the chance to put the brakes on it right now and stop that mindset on immigration before it goes any farther.
I just hope we can.
Otherwise it's a good thing we have the 2nd Amendment in most states and we can protect ourselves from what is happening in Europe right now.

If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid.
Q was one of my all-time Star Trek characters, any reboot.
-
No offence taken - our media are VERY left.
The gun thing only really kicked off with the Dunblaine massacre and subsequent over reaction. Before that, you could own handguns under pretty much the same rules as in some of the USA - waiting times and a police check, then pick it up. Not many people did though, it's just not part of the culture, unlike rifles and shotguns.
-
I just woke up, turned on my iPhone and got this alert from Sky news-
One of the dead is an 8 year old girl.
Yes, it's terrible, @Freya. 8888crybaby
-
This is going to affect all European Union member countries.
Only mentioned Merkel, because I believe Germany is slated to hold their elections this year.
She would do quite nicely, even today.
-
@Sanguine , I'm not a parent but I can't get the idea of children going before their parents out of my head.
Nothing but heartache.
Sorry crying too hard. I'm getting a cup of coffee and going to talk to G-d in his house. Maybe I'll find an answer.

Stop it. Now! This is not the thread or the place. If you and @truth_seeker want to act this way....take your stupid slap fight to some back alley and knock yourselves silly. ****slapping
Just as long as the petty childish BS you both are slinging right now doesn't happen in this thread anymore.
@txradioguy
Thank you for that.

That's probably the only place to find an answer.
Yep. I can't ask my dad
I asked him last night but I didn't get an answer unless this is the answer.

Gun ownership wouldn't have stopped the Manchester bombing.
Shuttering all mosques and outlawing the practice of Islam in Great Britain is the 1st step.
The 2nd step would be to transport all radical Imams over the middle of the Mediterranean and tossing them out
-
Wanna bet?
The CDP has a pretty strong coalition in in the Bundestag in Berlin and in the regional governments as well.
The only real thread is from the Socialist Democrat Party but thanks to the fragmentation of parties in Germany (Greens, Pirate Party, Alternative for Germany etc) they can't get a coalition together big enough to challenge the CDP.
-
Gun ownership wouldn't have stopped the Manchester bombing.
True. But if you were a terrorist bomber...would you be more likely to try and blow yourself up in an area where people are carrying concealed and the cops have guns or a gun free zone.
Gotta remember...the normal beat cops in England don't even carry guns. Terrorist there know they can do this stuff with little challenge.
Shuttering all mosques and outlawing the practice of Islam in Great Britain is the 1st step.
Sadly that won't happen. Like I said...it's too late to take those steps...can't put toothpaste back in the tube so to speak.

That will work there about as well as it will here...which means it won't

I'll take that bet. Merkel is the only sensible party leader over there anymore because Germany is a mess. You see who her opponent was in the last election? Schulz is a bigger EU pimp and Leftist than she is.

That's what baffles me about these bombings. Every single time lately the authorities KNEW or had interaction with the terrorist.
Yet they aren't jailed or otherwise shown the door and are left to do horrific things like this bombing.
I just don't get it.

Are you saying that the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is pro-migrant?
Hmmm.....not when they peek in on their sleeping daughters today, they aren't.
This, together with President Trump's speech in Saudi Arabia, could be the catalyst for rethinking these refugee flows.
-

I am sure we are all glad to know that now the NYPD will be on guard at Times Square.
Never mind that a madman bent on murder drove three blocks on the sidewalk in Times Square killing and maiming people on the way. No police in sight.............

It's why I'm not a politician.
The only way radical Islam will stop, listen and reevaluate is for them to FEAR instant retribution for any terrorist act committed by one of their followers.
In Israel, when a Palestinian rocket is fired, they demolish not only the house, but the entire block, from which it was fired.
Blow up the mosque with huge fanfare, ferris wheels, etc.. Open a Chick-fil-A.
-
That's probably the only place to find an answer.
@Freya
The answer is to be still and know that He is God
We won't see the whole picture this side of eternity, but I know He loves those precious children that were killed more than their parents did... stop and think about that for a moment.
I don't have answers but I completely trust the One that died for me. He is in control and He will bring about His will. This is all we have, but thank God it is enough.
-
Are you saying that the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is pro-migrant?
Yes...but not as bad as the other more leftist parties over there with the exception of the AfD.
Germany has a population shortage....the birthrate replacement isn't ahead of the death rate over there. They need bodies to fill jobs.
Just like in the Obama and Liberals in U.S. Frau Merkel sees this rush of immigrants as future job fillers...people who will be paying taxes and increasing the GDP of Germany.
It's a deadly mistake.
Hmmm.....not when they peek in on their sleeping daughters today, they aren't.
You'd be surprised.
This, together with President Trump's speech in Saudi Arabia, could be the catalyst for rethinking these refugee flows.
That was a good speech. The problem is that he's sending mixed messages...one moment he's saying what he did in Saudi Arabia...the next he's thinking he can bring peach between Palestine and Israel and he staff is telling BiBi that Jerusalem isn't part of Israel.
He needs to stick to the "we will eliminate radical Islam" message...increase the size and strength of the military and go from there.
Mixed messages just give the enemy a loophole from which they can continue to operate.
-
That's what baffles me about these bombings. Every single time lately the authorities KNEW or had interaction with the terrorist.
Yet they aren't jailed or otherwise shown the door and are left to do horrific things like this bombing.
I just don't get it.
James Comey's FBI interviewed 6 terrorists that ended up killing Americans. The Govt' asks us "See something, says something" and then go about doing "Be PC, act PC".
-
I hate to agree about this, but you're correct: Guns would not have stopped this one.
Guns would not have stopped this one but an unarmed populace is more docile and sheeplike than an armed one. All being equal, I will take the armed populace. I still carry everywhere and no, it wont stop everything but it will give me a chance to protect my family in some circumstances, which is better than not being able to protect in any circumstance
-
So, England...Are Refugees still welcome?
@dfwgator
No doubt they are. Self-obliteration is preferable to learning a non-PC lesson.
-

Radical Islam only respects force...they view anyone trying to negotiate with them as weak and someone to be exploited.
In all honesty...Sean Connery's "Chicago Way" speech from The Untouchables needs to be applied to Daesh early and often.
This would also work too:

When it's suicide bombers, to me, that's the worse and it means the West or England, France and Belgium start to have to live like Israel.
They are already busting terrorists every few days there, often at least. So, this means one slipped through their security which seems fairly good.
Remember the articles posted, 10,000 jihadists are in the UK, something like that and that is from a Muslim population that is something like 3,000,000 out of 48,000,000, ball park figures.
We could see more of this and in other places.
@TomSea
I live close to Appomattox in Virginia. Aside from being known for its historical status, it's rural farming country. A few years ago some Muslims moved into the area and set up a paramilitary compound. They're part of Muslims of America, which has these camps seeded all over the nation. Fox News did a story on them and their acceptance of funding from radical sources overseas; they chased off the reporter and his crew.
Now when I run down to the Kroger or the Walmart in Appomattox, there are plenty of Muslims there, and they glare at you like they hate you. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those stores gets blown sky high one day. Sometimes when I come out and get into my car, I actually think, "Escaped again."
-
Shuttering all mosques and outlawing the practice of Islam in Great Britain is the 1st step.
Christianity will be next if that happens. Britain's run by a bunch of bitter atheists. See Ricky Gervais and Richard Dawkins for perfect examples of British "religion."
-
It would be nice if the world would skip the candle vigils and hand holding this time and actually get angry and do something about this. It is no mystery what the source is.
@DB
They won't, though. They'll hold the vigils, and maybe march through the streets holding hands, and by this evening we'll probably be hearing " Manchester Strong."

You'd think that eventually the left would catch on. I'm sure it helps emotionally at the time to hold those vigils, but when nothing more is done it's no more than giving a placebo to a person filled with cancer.
I hope England actually DOES something this time. When will they say "Enough!"??

The largest Muslim School in the U.S. is less than two miles from the back gate of Ft. Belvoir. When I left for Germany in 2010 the Fairfax City Council had just approved their request to expand the school.

Nope they just thing appeasement and MORE appeasement will eventually civilize these savages.
I hope England actually DOES something this time. When will they say "Enough!"??
When they have open war on their streets with the Radicals who've moved in in enough force to challenge the Government.

Yes, I despise these vigils. It makes people feel all virtuous and like they've done something, when all they've done is divert and diffuse righteous anger and real actions.

I'm cynical, I suppose, but I don't expect they will. Western countries just don't seem to have the stomach for self-preservation anymore.
Last night I was reading Jonah Goldberg's Twitter. He had a link to an article which contained many celebrities' tweets regarding the incident. Every one of them offered sad condolences as though those kids all died from an epidemic of the flu. And those tweets mirror the culture.

I guess the problem is, what does "saying 'enough!'" actually look like? They can't "outlaw Islam," and they can't simply start rounding people up without cause or due process -- that 'cure' would probably end up worse than the disease itself.
There are precedents from the bad old days of the IRA, however, and there are certain Imams and radical mosques that might be targeted. Unfortunately, it's probably impossible to get them all.

Think of the explosives they use, though. HMTD and TATP are shock sensitive. Shoot them and set them off, if you can't do a head shot, and with deadman switches and remote (cell phone) activation of 'suicide' bombers (backup in case they decide not to martyr themselves), it is a real question whether being armed is much of a defense unless you can hit them where there are few people about. I would wager most CCW holders can't hit a salad plate at 50 yards, and that's the level of accuracy needed with every shot. They might go off anyway, and a center of mass shot will likely detonate them.

Quinn: 'What strategy? Tell me what the strategy is and I'll tell you if it's working'.
(silence)
Quinn: 'See, that right there is the problem, because they - they have a strategy,' Quinn says. 'They're gathering right now in Raqqa by the tens of thousands, hidden in the civilian population, cleaning their weapons and they know exactly why they're there.'
CIA Official: 'Why is that?'
Quinn: They call it the end times. What do you think the be-headings are about? The crucifixions in Deir Hafer, the revival of slavery? Do you think they make this s*** up? It's all in the book. Their f****** book. The only book they ever read - they read it all the time. They never stop. They're there for one reason and one reason only: to die for the Caliphate and usher in a world without infidels. That's their strategy and it's been that way since the seventh century. So do you really think that a few special forces teams are going to put a dent in that?"
-
As was mentioned up thread, they will probably rush to protect the Imams and radical mosques from that "evil" backlash that they always warn us of...... you know the backlash that never happens because the majority of people are actually civilized?
.... Mentioned by one of our resident hand-wringers, right? "OOhhhh, the west is done, done, done!!! 8888crybaby" They're as bad as the vigil-goers. All bluster and no rational thought.
I expect the British authorities are probably a lot more brutal about this stuff than people recognize, and for sure the French are. Granting the reflexive and well-nigh suicidal protectiveness of the left, they don't represent the feelings of most.
They knew about this guy and they did nothing.
"Knowing about" is shaky grounds, though. They're keeping their eyes on probably hundreds or thousands of potential terrorists. They simply can't "do something" about all of them, and even if they're doing their best, the ugly truth is that every once in a while one will get past the guards. The problem is, in a country like the UK, governed by rule of law, subject to Constitutional constraints ... how do you keep it balanced?
Had he done anything for which he could actually be arrested? Consider carefully how you'd answer. Do you think you'd like to live in a place where being arrested "on suspicion" was the norm. After all, you post here -- to many on the left you're as suspicious and dangerous as the bomber was.
-

Cell phone jammers in all public arenas would work...let the people complain. Then ask them...would they rather do without FB and Snapchat for a couple hours or be dead?
Most of the attacks here are with weapons...not bombs...because of the terrorist's ability to purchase them in the States that isn't available to them in Europe.
And at the end of the day...the very fact that there are CCW permit holders in the crowd and they don't know who they are is a bigger deterrent than how accurately one can shoot.
Hence the reason the attacks in the U.S. have happened in gun free zones.
The terrorists aren't going to ask someone how well they did at the range last weekend before they decide whether or not to open fire.
-

Why not? Why not outlaw Islam, seize their lands and properties, burn their places of worship, and send them out of the country (or behead them) if they refuse to swear fealty to the Crown and the CoE? It has been done before, only to Catholics, under Henry VIII.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the terror attack that killed at least 22 people Monday night outside an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, United Kingdom.
According to Israeli media, ISIS said in a video they posted online that "This is just the beginning."

As you know, my son has lived in London for 30 years. He just got safely back to London from Siberia making a documentary film. When something happens in England, my first thought is, "Where is Wayne this minute?" I haven't heard from him since this bombing happened, but surely he was not there. I will send him an email to make sure.

Seeing how the "troubles" was not a religious war and a conflict between UK and Ireland; that is unrelated.

As you know, my son has lived in London for 30 years. He just got safely back to London from Siberia making a documentary film. When something happens in England, my first thought is, "Where is Wayne this minute?" I haven't heard from him since this bombing happened, but surely he was not there. I will send him an email to make sure.
@Victoria33, that is scary. My son and DIL were there for several years, and I always worried.

How does a free society deal with those that do not adhere to our laws and values? When I ponder that question and think about what happens when that society is overrun by those that do not, I realize that our future is grim. I believe the answer will eventually be isolationism, but by the time those that wish to welcome these people with open arms are in agreement, it may be too late as we may already be overrun.
I see no peaceful path to stop those that do not follow the rule of law and wish us harm. I pray those that are far more knowledgeable and intelligent than I know the answer and implement it before it is too late.

"Knowing about" is shaky grounds, though. They're keeping their eyes on probably hundreds or thousands of potential terrorists. With any cell phone or other communications traffic indicating intent, "Possession of bomb making materials" has been used as a charge. Those suspected could be more closely monitored, but that takes people, budget, and the will to do so, within the rules. At some point the system becomes so severely infiltrated that the normal mechanisms of secrecy no longer remain secret, or even are not applied. (DOJ under Obama, for instance)
Unfortunately, the direction all this takes us in is one of Bills of Attainder and the tracking of every expenditure and purchase, all totalitarianism wrapped in the mantle of providing "safety", and equally to be rejected in a free society.
The only other way to exert control is to do away with the nonsense of "multiculturalism" when dealing with fundamentally incompatible cultures and retain separation. Too late to impose that without a pogrom.

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that concealed carry would be completely ineffective. Only in situations where typical bomb vests and IEDs were the M.O. In firearm attacks, firearms still hold sway, although again I will mention the target is not just center of mass (body armor), but that salad plate sized target. upper legs count, too (Femur/Femoral Artery, downward trajectory), and may be preferable if there are people in the background to risking a through and through or miss hitting people in the background, at head/upper torso level.
No, I'm not ruling out guns or being armed, just that in this one case, they may not have been able to make a difference. Anyone shooting someone with a bomb vest should expect to be wounded at a minimum in the blast, unless they are doing so from distances more suited to a rifle shot. (not that Center of mass can't be done from farther out with a pistol).

China, at least in that troubled Western province of their's has outlawed growing long beards.
China or some other nation has also outlawed wearing those Islamic pants, pants with the cuffs about half way up the shin, short pant legs.
These terror acts are just constant, really, I'm starting to lose track of them now.

Seeing how the "troubles" was not a religious war and a conflict between UK and Ireland; that is unrelated.
Not only that, the Church of England/Anglican came to replace the Church of Rome but remained very similar. That's hardly about dissolving a religion.
While it was entirely about ending as much as possible the influence of the Church of Rome, (so Henry could be the leader in all things, sacred and secular) the departure from Catholic doctrine was small, just enough for Henry to seize that power, and not enough to be completely repugnant to the nobility and others who had to either go along or rebel. It was also about looting a religion:
The dissolution of the monasteries in the late 1530s was one of the most revolutionary events in English history. There were nearly 900 religious houses in England, around 260 for monks, 300 for regular canons, 142 nunneries and 183 friaries; some 12,000 people in total, 4,000 monks, 3,000 canons, 3,000 friars and 2,000 nuns. If the adult male population was 500,000, that meant that one adult man in fifty was in religious orders.
, and destroying any influence the papacy had. The wealth of those religious houses (monasteries, and the like) was forfeit and confiscated.
Kindly go to the link and learn.

Manchester bomber named by police
Salman Abedi, 22, has been named by police as the suspected suicide bomber who killed 22 people and injured 59 at Manchester Arena on Monday night.
Abedi had not been identified by the coroner so no further details would be given about him, Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said.

Why not? Why not outlaw Islam, seize their lands and properties, burn their places of worship, and send them out of the country (or behead them) if they refuse to swear fealty to the Crown and the CoE? It has been done before, only to Catholics, under Henry VIII.

That's what baffles me about these bombings. Every single time lately the authorities KNEW or had interaction with the terrorist.
Yet they aren't jailed or otherwise shown the door and are left to do horrific things like this bombing.
I just don't get it.
IMO, they are quick to claim the perp is "....already in our system", so they don't get hauled before a public commission and humiliated and shamed.
And then there's justifying $$$ budgeted for your department.....

How does a free society deal with those that do not adhere to our laws and values? When I ponder that question and think about what happens when that society is overrun by those that do not, I realize that our future is grim.
A society and culture that no longer believes in itself and it's own special culture and insists on assimilation to that specific culture will be consumed by the cultures they import and allow to overcome them.
Multiculturalism was the demon seed of our own destruction because it promoted culture and beliefs anathema and hostile to our own. And while the proponents claim diversity is strength and demand equality - the moment such cultures reach parity with the host nation - they subjugate the host culture and transform it into their own - often by violence.
I believe the answer will eventually be isolationism, but by the time those that wish to welcome these people with open arms are in agreement, it may be too late as we may already be overrun.
It is already far too late for Europe.
Ours is already on a fast-track to the same fate.

The only answer is one that no one has the balls, stomach or fortitude to even suggest.
We either INSIST everyone here become Americans, speak English and adopt our values with virulent prejudice against those ideas and cultures actually hostile to our foundations - or we will be buried by those who are willing to impose their own values and prejudices upon the rest of us.

Romans imposed rule over Britain.
Anglo-Saxons imposed rule over Britain.
Norse imposed rule over parts of Britain.
The year 1066, William the Conqueror, a French speaking nobleman of Viking ancestry, takes over rule of England--by military force.
He imposed a new legal system, the French language, and it can be claimed the resulting nation was stronger for it.
The resulting nation become the British Empire. Not too shabby for a bunch of mongrels.

Our chicken-poop government has already capitulated. Dan Coates told Congress that "this is not going away." The one legitimate function of the federal government is to make it go away.

@INVAR
You said. "We either INSIST everyone here become Americans, speak English and adopt our values with virulent prejudice against those ideas and cultures actually hostile to our foundations - or we will be buried by those who are willing to impose their own values and prejudices upon the rest of us."
I was born in this country in 1933. Most people went to church on Sunday and it was held to be a holy day - no stores were open. No one locked their houses or locked their cars and most left their car keys in the ignition when they went shopping.
Almost every person spoke English. One did not hear foreign languages being spoken anywhere they went.
When I was about 19, I was on the road to Tyler, Texas, and a tire went flat. I had no cell phone and did not lock myself in my car; that would not have occurred to me to do that. Two black men stopped and changed my tire. I thanked them for doing that.
I think, INVAR, white Americans will be in the minority due to whites not having many children and Spanish and Arabs are having many. At some point, the official English language of the government will change to Spanish. This is my observation after being here 83 years and watching the changes.

Jehovah's witnesses right now seem to see Russia trying to make them illegal. Likewise, in Germany I believe they were basically outlawed in the 1930s.

We may have already tipped over into the 'it's too late' category but have not realized it yet.
The birthrate situation is far worse than any of us recognize. If I recall, a civilization has to have a birthrate of 2.4 kids per family to maintain a culture for the succeeding generation. Europe's birthrate among native Europeans is NEGATIVE, and ours is either AT 2.4 or below at 2.
Meanwhile, the aliens who reside among us have birthrates exceeding 10 to 1 ratios.
It is because of that fact that the GOP under Bush decided the future was going to be Hispanic and that has been their focus of recruitment while abandoning their base.

Two can be as bad as one, it's the loneliest number since the number one.

Under 2. Two is the minimum replacement level, at which population growth will be 0. In practice, the minimum replacement level is over 2 - while 2.4 is generally used, it's more like 2.3.
-
Two is not a negative number.
No it isn't. But the problem is real never-the-less.

Sorry for having fun at your post @INVAR , the description of a negative birthrate was too much for me to pass up.
Your point is valid. I don't mean to take away from it.
Birthrate, Fertility rate and population growth rate are all related but measured in different terms.

From what I've read all western nations are on the decline with some worse then others. Japans birthrate right now is about 1.4. The US is 1.8 and Russia is 1.7
Basically by 2040 several nations will cease to exist. We are being out bred by the muslims and spanish.

Just for clarity of language, the numbers you are using are fertility rates. Birthrates are measured in births per population per year.

If you have ever been poor, you know the affinity morally decent poor people have for those suffering around them. It may seem a peculiar empathy, but those who have little often offer what they can for anyone they see as being in a worse situation.

I got another email from him saying it is possible for an imminent attack and he will not be in central London for the next week.
That is good. I know he does editing of film in a building in central London. He lives outside central London. He is an independent documentary film director so he doesn't have to go to a "day job". The people who work for a company in London will have to chance it, and most use the underground for transportation to get to their jobs. I feel for these people who have no choice, they have to go.

For we of The West, there are but two choices.
Neither of them is pleasant. The first goes totally against the grain of what we have been taught to believe about human freedom. How could civilized people do such a thing?
But... if we are unwilling to choose choice #1, we WILL end up with choice #2.
Choice #1:

There -are no- others "more knowledgeable and intelligent" than you are, insofar as making the choice that has to be made by all those who live within The West. Indeed, the elites we elect to make such decisions for us are only making matters worse and hastening our own downfall.
Nope. The decision must be made by each and every member of this forum, by everyone who read this.
I've decided which option above I will choose.

I think most posters in this forum know what -would- "stop it", but cannot bring themselves to openly agree with me when I post the following two images:
For we of The West, there are but two choices.
Neither of them is pleasant. The first goes totally against the grain of what we have been taught to believe about human freedom. How could civilized people do such a thing?
But... if we are unwilling to choose choice #1, we WILL end up with choice #2.
Choice #1:
Choice #2:
There -are no- others "more knowledgeable and intelligent" than you are, insofar as making the choice that has to be made by all those who live within The West. Indeed, the elites we elect to make such decisions for us are only making matters worse and hastening our own downfall.
Nope. The decision must be made by each and every member of this forum, by everyone who read this.
I've decided which option above I will choose.
What will YOURS be?
First stop importing Muslims. We don't allow open Nazis to immigrate here and Muslims are little different. They were natural allies during WWII and it is no mystery why. They both demand the overthrowing of our government and our way of life well beyond any religious claim. Islam means to submit, not peace as claimed so often. It seeks to replace government with only itself. Islam is not compatible with western civilization and never has been. Wherever it reaches critical mass it crushes all opposition and kills and/or enslaves it.
It is a cancer of the soul. It must be purged to avoid it consequences.
That doesn't mean death trains. It does mean they need to leave if they can't assimilate into western culture because you can only have one or the other.

DB wrote above (regarding my post):
"That doesn't mean death trains. It does mean they need to leave if they can't assimilate into western culture because you can only have one or the other."
I -DO NOT- intend the picture of the boxcars to imply "death trains" carrying muslims to concentration camps. The photo implies, "forced migration".
What I -DO- intend for it to mean in the context of my posts:
1. All muslims in The West -- ALL of them, including muslim citizens, including muslim AMERICAN citizens -- must return from dar al-harb to dar al-islam (if you don't understand those two terms, you'd better learn about them).
2. Those who wish to remain will be given a single option: convert to Christianity and deny muhammed in a publicly-recorded sequence that will leave no room for reversal later on. The purpose of such apostasy is to guarantee that faithful muslims will never accept "the denier" again. The "break" must be complete and irrevocable.
Our "choice" for muslims must be morally superior to "the choice" muslims offer non-muslims.
Their choice:
Convert, or die.
Our choice:
Convert, or return to dar al-islam.

Freya, you know how crowded London is.
Yes. The PM just raised the terror alert over there. I don't think there will be an incident there.
I'm saving my pennies. I want to see London and Paris again, especially now that I'm walking.

Need to get past Saturday. FA cup and the Rugby final both on. That's a quarter million people in two smallish spaces.

You'll probably have to take a plane or ship somewhere along the way.

Not this year. Can't afford this year. Besides, I don't have a passport, mine expired and I forgot to renew it.
I am doing my best to get to South Carolina this August to see the eclipse. Can't see it in totality from where I am. :(
-
Btw, CNN and Fox News are now reporting three more people have been arrested in regards to this attack.
Story breaking.
-
About 20 years ago my daughter was on a class trip to London. The kids were all using the underground when suddenly they were all hustled up to the street. An IRA bomb threat. So used to the constant bombings and threats the London-ers took it all calmly. Not so much the students.
That said.......my son stationed in Germany for four years......during those days.......15 yrs.ago, the government showed NO patience whatsoever for anyone wanting to protest or march for something or other. The government would enter the main train station with batons and forced any loitering folks out of there and not gently either. That authoritarian governing has slowly devolved....as we can all see the decline of all of the European countries, as well as our own.

Bring back public executions. See "The Tudors" for suggestions on methods.

Just to be sure you know, although Passports expire after 10 years, they can be renewed by mail within 15 years from original issue.

There have been nasty ways to go since mankind started. I’ve also watched a few episodes of shows on ID Discovery before they got way to graphic
Besides, I get the willies thinking of Madame DeFarge.

They've ramped up the terror alert to critical. I hope he can stay out until things settle down.

To me, she strikingly looks like Tiffany Trump in some pictures. So some of the sad parts of this whole story. I'm sure she is in heaven now.
-
So, that young man's mother lost her father or FIL, her husband and now her son?
-
Is it me, or does that couple look so young? Like teenagers?
Sigh. Another night of insomnia.
I hope they are together in heaven. Way too young to have died.
Btw, I read that Ariana Grande offered to pay for the costs of the funerals.

I have little doubt the whole thing has affected her, too. These people had come to see her, after all, and even though she had nothing to do with their death, that's going to mess with her. The carnage is on the terrorists who did this, not on her, but somewhere deep down there is likely some survivor guilt going on.

As you know she was caught saying she hates America and Americans. She also has been bashing Trump over his restrictions on immigration. Hopefully her position has changed some on that front. I hope she overcomes this horrible tragedy and as you say it was not of her making.

I seriously hope it is a "Road to Damascus" moment for her. And, regardless of her politics, survivor guilt is a nasty SOB I wouldn't wish on anyone.
-
She's going back to Manchester to do a benefit gig. The letter to her fans is thoughtful - bout the only word to describe it. She's been pushing the Red Cross hard, and she has the sort of reach few can dream of.
She's done some growing up. Done alright, too.
-
And that benefit concert is already next weekend too; I thought I heard.

Glad to see that, but what a hell of a way to get there.

Grande offered to pay for the funerals of the murdered. Somehow this has morphed into a concert that others will fund?
Surprise..........NOT
