As an old hydrocarbon energy industry person, it needs to be understood there is much more to independence, besides fracking.

Nuclear, for instance. Yes, there will perhaps become a place for economically viable solar, wind and tidal sources as well. And shale, oil and tar sands, too.

I'm not sure any of the candidates has spoken much on energy (if so, I'd welcome the info). As I live in a big fracking region and a state where Obama has destroyed the coal mining industry, it would be nice if our next president had a clue on these issues.
