A city councilmember accused the mayor of wanting to hide mismanaged funds.

Heated arguments ensued at a city council meeting after an annual financial audit revealed a $6 million deficit in the City of Elgin’s account.

On October 21, City Councilmember Tiffany St. Pierre accused Democrat Mayor Theresa McShan of not wanting a forensic audit to examine the mismanagement of funds during the 2023 and 2024 fiscal years.

McShan was elected in May of 2023 as mayor of the small town in Bastrop County.

“We’re not going to go back and try to figure out what all did happen,” said McShan.

“We have a right as constituents and a right as residents to know where our money was spent and how it was spent,” St. Pierre shot back.

Typical criminal response ... try to sweep it under the rug.

She should have been like the MLB cheats testifying before Congress: "I'm not here to talk about the past. I'm here to talk about the positive and not the negative about this issue."

Now that was a classic!
