White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump has reportedly been talking with members of Congress about gun legislation in the wake of mass shootings in Ohio and Texas that left 31 people dead earlier this month.
Axios, citing sources familiar with the conversations, reported on Tuesday that President Trump's daughter has been quietly calling lawmakers to get a better understanding on where they stand on reforming gun laws.
She called Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) last week while he was vacationing in Hawaii to receive an update on a background checks bill he first introduced in 2013. ...

If this political expediency crap keeps up, there will be no second term.
And, it also pushes people like myself, that have been hoping for some time that he would somehow be different, back to the understanding of what @roamer_1 has been patiently trying to tell us: there are no victories if our founding principles are discarded along the way....

What knowledge and experience does Ivanka have with firearms to qualify her to speak to lawmakers on the issue? What qualifications does she have, period, to be involved in the government. Having a fashion line doesn't count. She is insufferable and 888mouth

IMHO it allows the arm twisting for red flag laws not being opposed by Republicans without having daddy's fingerprints on it.

One of my biggest nightmares these days (and trust me, I have several going on....lol)....
is that after winning a 2nd term, Trump will pull a GWB on us and completely 'change' course and agenda. Since it has happened before, I have no reason to not expect it to happen again (ie history oft repeats itself, seldom for the good).
Consider.... ALL of his family and friends are still Democrats. The pressure has to have been tremendous, even for someone like him. What.... if.....??? :shrug:
And of course, the alternative to him winning in 2020 is even more unthinkable (another one of my current nightmares). It's a wonder I get any sleep at all!

Well GWB sure as hell let us down in his 2nd term. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised that Trump does not repeat history. Hope being pretty much all that I have left (pardon pun).
