The federal government set the stage for a massive conflagration by not doing prescribed burns.  That, and it seems like they could have better managed the fire when it was small.  Jasper has several lakes for scooping water by plane.

The Bombshell Tulsi Gabbard Just Dropped on the Russian Collusion Hoax Should Terrify Every American
Jeff Charles
6–8 minutes

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Friday released an earth-shattering report detailing how federal agencies under the Obama administration manipulated intelligence findings to concoct and promote the Russiagate hoax.

This, along with earlier revelations about how intelligence agencies pushed the false narrative about President Donald Trump and Russia, shows just how deep the scheme ran.

In the lead-up to the 2016 election, multiple internal assessments concluded that the Russian government was not trying to influence the outcome of the race, according to a memo that Gabbard released. Multiple intelligence agencies came to the same conclusion.

On August 31, 2016, “a DHS official tells former DNI James Clapper that there was ‘no indication of a Russian threat to directly manipulate the actual vote count.’”

Nevertheless, the FBI allegedly asked the agencies to water down their assessments to avoid coming to solid conclusions. On September 2, the Bureau asked that a whistleblower’s report be “softened” and acknowledged that they were “uncomfortable” with implying “definitive information that Russia does intend to disrupt our elections.”

Later, an official with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) insisted that the next Presidential Daily Briefing (PDB) should affirm that the Kremlin “probably is not trying…to influence the elction by using cyber means.” Several IC officials concurred.

These assessments resulted in the September 12 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) which noted that “foreign adversaries do not have and will probably not obtain the capabilities to successfully execute widespread and undetected cyber attacks on election infrastructure.”

After Trump won the 2016 election, intelligence officials reaffirmed that Russian cyber operations had not influenced the outcome. However, the assessment was abruptly suppressed. In December, then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper’s office started compiling a new Presidential Daily Briefing that also confirmed that Russia did not sway the results of the race.

Have not.  Nothing wrong with selling his book. Does he remind anyone of Matt Bracken?

UPDATE: Fatal LA County Sheriff Explosion Reportedly Caused by Military-Style Devices Recovered Thursday
Jennifer Van Laar
~3 minutes

A tearful Los Angeles County Sheriff held a press conference late Friday morning to formally announce the deaths of three deputies in an explosion at a training facility in East Los Angeles.

This morning, shortly after 7:30 AM, an explosion occurred at our Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Arson/Explosives Detail facility.

Tragically, there were three sworn members who were killed that were assigned to our Arson/Explosives Detail. No other department members were injured or transported to any hospitals. This is, unfortunately, the largest loss of life for us as the LA County Sheriff's Department since 1857. Between all three sworn members they had served our community proudly for 74 years ... 19 years, 22 years, and 33 years.

According to initial reports from multiple news outlets, there was also one deputy injured and transported to the hospital. Luna was asked about the discrepancy between that report and his current statement that no other department members were injured, and simply repeated his prior statement.

Luna said he has met with "several" family members of the deputies who were killed already, but some have not been notified so they are not yet releasing the victims' names. He added that LASD homicide detectives are investigating the deaths, and they are being assisted by the FBI, who are investigating the post-blast portion of the incident.

Immediately prior to the press conference, which was held about four hours after the explosion, the scene was rendered safe, Luna said. Luna did not give any information as to what type of explosion occurred, whether the deputies who were killed were taking part in training, what types of devices detonated, or whether there were additional devices. However, as we reported initially, sources told Fox News' Alexandria Hernandez that "deputies were moving ordnance on the facility's property when the explosion took place." In addition, Malibu-based investigative journalist Cece Woods, whose work centers on the LA County Sheriff's Department, reports:

LASD recovered two military-type devices and two pipe bombs in Santa Monica area last night. These were the devices that exploded this morning per sources. Feds have taken over the investigation.

Sources within the department confirmed to RedState that SEB recovered two military-type explosives Thursday night during an bomb call-out and that it was those devices being transported Friday morning when one of them detonated.

Durbin: FBI agents were told to ‘flag’ Epstein records that mentioned Trump
by Alexander Bolton - 07/18/25 2:57 PM ET

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says he has received information that Attorney General Pam Bondi “pressured” about 1,000 FBI personnel to comb through tens of thousands of pages of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and flag any mention of President Trump.

Durbin made the explosive allegation in three letters that he sent Friday to Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino seeking more information about the administration’s handling of files related to Epstein and asking why senior officials were allegedly focused on looking for documents connecting Trump to Epstein.

Citing “information my office received,” Durbin said Bondi “pressured the FBI to put approximately 1,000 personnel in its Information Management Division” on 24-hour shifts to review about 100,000 Epstein-related records as part of a broader effort to release documents publicly by what Durbin called “an arbitrarily short deadline.”

Durbin says his office was told that FBI personnel were “instructed to ‘flag’ any records in which President Trump was mentioned.”

He went on to note in the letters that Trump in 2002 said he had known Epstein for 15 years and called him a “terrific guy” and “a lot of fun to be with.”

Alberta premier demands apology from fire-stricken town of Jasper

The Canadian Press

Jul 18, 2025

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is demanding the fire-stricken town of Jasper apologize and retract a report criticizing her government for its role in last summer's devastating blaze.

Smith, speaking at an unrelated press conference in Edmonton, also blamed the federal government for failing in the fire response by not asking sooner for provincial help and for not clearing out dead trees that provided fuel for the flames.

"I'm very disappointed that this report politicizes what actually should be a very successful example of unified command," Smith said Friday.

"This report come as a shot out of the blue. It's unfair, it's untrue and I would like them to withdraw it."

Smith added: "This was a federal fire. It took place in a federal park, and it was a federal Parks Canada response. Finish with the fried eggs.
