The Texas Flooding Tragedy: Could It Have Been Avoided?
On Friday morning, heavy rains led to catastrophic flooding along the Guadalupe River in central Texas.

Tragically, it appears that at least fifty people lost their lives.

But what is particularly disturbing is that the National Weather Service (NWS) provided excellent warnings and forecasts before the event that clearly predicted a substantial threat.

And yet, no attempt at evacuation was made.

Furthermore, weather model forecasts indicated the potential for a major precipitation event over this historically flood-prone region during the prior days.

The Event
The flooding occurred around 4 AM on July 4.

A heavy precipitation event was forecast for the region during the previous days.  For example, the NOAA/NWS HRRR forecast from 8 PM July 3 (the evening before) predicted a band of heavy rain over central Texas.

Sustainability Magazine’s Heat Wave Hype: Grid Struggles Stem from Policy, Not Climate
12 hours ago Anthony Watts

In the article “Climate Change: How Heatwaves are Affecting Power Grids,” Sustainability Magazine (SM) claims that human-caused climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of heat waves, which are allegedly placing growing strain on power grids worldwide. This claim is at best, highly misleading, and at worst, outright false. Data does not support the notion that heat waves are increasing in frequency or intensity on a global scale. Evidence instead suggests that localized temperature increases, especially in urban areas where power grids are concentrated, are primarily driven by the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect—not global climate change. Evidence also strongly suggests that to the extent power grids are being stretched to the limits it is due to the addition of intermittent power in the form of industrial wind and solar facilities to the grid.

“Human-caused climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of heatwaves since the 1950s and is set to continue to do so according to the World Meteorological Organisation,” says SM. “As temperatures continue to stay hot, power grids and markets are facing strain.”

The narrative pushed by SM is belied by the fact that there is no long-term upward trend in heat wave frequency or intensity when global datasets are correctly adjusted for the UHI effect. For example, Climate Realism carefully analyzed heat wave claims in several articles, here, here, and here, which explain that despite fluctuations year to year, the occurrence of heat waves over the last century has not trended upward globally. In fact, the hottest years in U.S. history for sustained heat waves remain in the 1930s, a period with significantly lower atmospheric carbon dioxide levels than today.

Gas Crisis Looms Over California As Dems Continue To Impose Crippling Regs

Democrat policies and new regulations hiked California’s gas prices on Tuesday, and a slew of green energy initiatives has led to refinery closures and lofty gas prices in the Golden State that may soon spiral into a full-blown crisis.

California is teetering on the brink of a gas crisis due primarily to Democrats’ green energy policies, as multiple major refineries prepare to shutter in the coming years and more stringent regulations on the oil and gas industries take effect. Democratic leadership and regulators enacted adjustments to California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program on Tuesday, resulting in a gas price increase that may be the beginning of further pain at the pump for the state’s consumers.

“Not every Californian is a millionaire like our governor is … and these regulations are bearing down on the average Californian and making California unaffordable,” Republican California Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “I’m addressing the cost of gasoline in California and trying to do everything I can to repeal the regulations that are causing it to go up, while at the same time alerting Californians of the impending cost of gasoline.” (RELATED: California Democrats Rail Against Energy Regulations They Unleashed As Gas Crisis Looms)

I just filed a public records request to expose how Newsom’s deceptive 65-cent gas price hike was crafted in secret.

We believe the real goal is to jack up gas prices so high that Californians are forced to buy EVs.

The public deserves the truth. #FixCalifornia pic.twitter.com/UVpzs1Qt7k

Maybe so, but the verdict is already likely determined, being a big liberal area.  It will all depend on how weak a case the prosecutor decides to put on.

Judge recommends that case against Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan proceed
Story by SCOTT BAUER • 8h

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A federal magistrate judge recommended Monday that the case proceed against a Wisconsin judge who was indicted on allegations that she helped a man who is in the country illegally evade U.S. immigration agents seeking to arrest him in her courthouse.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested in April and indicted on federal charges in May. She pleaded not guilty.

The case highlighted a clash between President Donald Trump’s administration and local authorities over the Republican’s sweeping immigration crackdown.

Democrats have accused the Trump administration of trying to make a national example of Dugan to chill judicial opposition.

Trump administration ends 25-year migrant protections for two countries
Story by Dan Gooding • 20h

The Trump administration is ending over 25 years of protections for immigrants from two countries: Nicaragua and Honduras.

In notices published in the Federal Register on Monday morning, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it would allow the current Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for both countries to lapse as of July 5, affecting roughly 50,000 people.

The move follows the cancellation of several other TPS designations by the DHS in recent months, with the Trump administration arguing that these designations have been abused or allowed to continue without sufficient scrutiny.

Immigration advocacy groups have warned that revoking protections puts immigrants at risk of deportation to countries still not safe enough to return to.

Not when even after decades of dumbing down the 'plantation populations' they are losing those demographics (partly, at least from embracing groups who provoke reactions like "Awww, Hell no!") so they feel the need to import millions who don't even understand the language, just to try to maintain a 'plantation voting base' they might be able to win with, and to skew Congressional Proportionality via inflated census figures in targeted markets.

Interesting that these decisions are made by people from tropical nations where you can survive with little, and not by those from more polar climates where energy is life.

Interesting article, thanks!
