Hey people! Look at an article I found on the internet! I thought it was interesting. It is just one of many reports I have seen showing that for some reason that D@mned fool Trump just keeps winning!
I will post other articles along this vein as I notice them.
Roger Goodell sends letter to NFL teams, wants players to stand during anthem
The NFL has developed a plan to "move past" its ongoing debate about player protests during the national anthem and could enact it next week, commissioner Roger Goodell wrote Tuesday in a letter to all 32 teams.
Goodell made it clear in the letter, obtained by ESPN's Adam Schefter, that he wants players to stand during the anthem. He did not provide specifics on how he intends to ensure it, but he wrote that it would "include such elements as an in-season platform to promote the work of our players on these core issues."

I think this is a pretty big deal that Donny tapped into. The fighting against the kneeling issue is a clear and definitive stand to take against the cultural Marxists. I believe his strategy in winning this confrontation was the brilliant idea of turning it into a confrontation and then framing the debate with his tweets.
He didn't have to jump into this, but I think he correctly recognized that this was low hanging fruit and if he challenged it, he would come away the victor. This was a can't lose confrontation for him, and a can't possibly win confrontation for the NFL and the players.
With his tweets, he made it about disrespect for the nation. The players tried to reframe it as a defiance of Trump, but that could only work once, (if that) and the next game they couldn't argue that they were just "defying Trump". At some point it couldn't be excused as that anymore, and it would thereafter appear to reinforce Trump's point that they were disrespecting the nation.
Trump picked this battle precisely because he knew he would win it.

It looks meaningless at first blush. If you look at it in a broader fashion this is a fairly important thing that is happening. Cultural rot is being taken head on and the good guys are winning. It could lead to further battles in this arena now that it has been shown they are winnable.

Not to say it isn't legit, but neither is it big. Americans tend to vote with their feet (see JCPennys, Target, in the reverse: Chil-Fil-A). If anything, he just brought it to a head.

It looks meaningless at first blush. If you look at it in a broader fashion this is a fairly important thing that is happening. Cultural rot is being taken head on and the good guys are winning. It could lead to further battles in this arena now that it has been shown they are winnable.
This football thing is not meaningless at all. It is a clear example of the division in America that was started by Obama and is being pushed by the left.
The players, on the whole, are not brilliant mentally. There is not a single law in America that discriminates against Blacks. In fact, Blacks are over-represented in Arts and sports considering their percentage of the population.
Football fans are generally regular, hard-working middle-class people who want to enjoy sports as a diversion and certainly don't want politics mixed in.
Another thing that is irritating middle-America is the disgusting behavior of Hollywood types and late night talk show scum.
The media is so overwhelmed with bias and so omni-present, we start feeling like we regular, decent people have become obsolete.
But, out in the real world, we are stronger than ever and madder than ever.
I think this is the kind of fed-up disgust that got Trump elected.

Tossing a bit of red meat for personal support doesn't make up for the ongoing assault on our culture of decency. Degrading the office with childish behavior. Waffling on things like defunding PP, etc.

Look around and see what is happening. People are burning season tickets, jerseys, memorabilia over this. Rating are plummeting at an ever increasing rate. Stands are empty. All of this is because Trump legitimized what everyone was thinking but afraid to act upon.

This is the key point IMO. Everyone (especially Trump supporters) have lots of anecdote data, but does this translate into improved approval ratings, into an increase in the 46% share Trump got against Hillary? I haven’t seen compelling data that this type of issue has had a meaningful impact on voter preference. Absent that it’s just noise IMO, but with so few other real legislative victories to tout, I’m not surprised the Trump supporters feel they need to celebrate this one.

I can name off numerous elections we have lost, simply because the media brought their weapon to bear against us.

IMHO,one HUGE win would be The Briefing Room with a actual damn ping list with a name something like "American Politics" or "Domestic Politics",so I don't have to remember 25 screen names and then waste my life typing them to draw other members to an interesting discussion subject.
I am NOT taking anything away from the participating value of the two people I notified that might be interested in reading and maybe responding to my reply,but knowing that a dozen or more posters might read it and respond sure does make posting it less of a waste of time.

I think it's a little unfair to blame the populace.
The populace has other things going like working, taking care of their families and their own health and hobbies.
Most people aren't policy wonks. We should be able to trust the press to do the old 'who, what, where and when' thing we were taught in journalism class.
It is way too easy to spin anything without actually lying .. although they are not above that.
Ignore this thing and emphasize this other thing and you have a whole new take on things.
It's easier now to dig out news for ourselves but we shouldn't have to. We SHOULD be able to expect a Free and Fair press and we certainly don't have one now.

That would work ok if you were only interested in one or two subjects,but when you start keeping one list for music,another for American history,one more for World history,one for archeology,one for guns and gear,one for gun control,one for cars/trucks,one for movies/tv shows,one for America politics,one for Global Politics,one for Science Fiction,one for Science Fact,etc,etc,etc,that's a lot of damn tying. Then you will be getting PMs from people who want to be added to or taken off a list,etc,etc,etc,and it damn near becomes a full-time job.
It is SOOOOO,much easier to just have ping lists members can create and then join or quit on their own,as well as just hit the "ping" button to ping everyone on that list to a new thread they post.
Plus when you have a member keeping what amounts to private ping lists,when they go on vacation,get sick,or just stop posting,nobody gets pinged. With site ping lists,the ping list stays as long as the person that created it checks the box to allow all members of it to ping others to it.

I love what the President is doing on regulations. The hurricane responses in Florida and Texas were right on target with direct leadership from him and his cabinet. He seems to be serious about fixing the VA. That’s long overdue. His speech after the Las Vegas shooting was spot on and I praised him at the time. And now, I think he freed up his military to go after ISIS by loosening the Rules of Engagement, and he deserves “all the credit in the world”. I've given him credit right here on TBR when I think he deserves it, and I criticize him when I think he deserves criticism.

Trump the person deserves the same credit for "leading" the charge in defeating ISIS in the town of Raqqua that Obama does for killing bin Laden.

:beer: Thanks. I try to be objective and to be consistent with my principles regardless of whether "my guy" is in the White House or not. For example, I criticized Bush for his deficit spending, criticized Obama for his, and will criticize Trump for his.
President Trump has done some good things and I've called out the good things that I agree with. Unfortunately, all too often, this Administration has degenerated into chaos, dysfunction, and defensiveness rather than focusing on actually getting their legislative agenda through Congress.

I think they just parroted conservative mantra to get elected, and they were in fact "country club" Rockefeller wing of the party types.

It feels like he's lending aid and support to the enemy, and it makes me believe he was never one of us, he was just one more con man who has successfully fooled us rubes into supporting his bid for power.

When she was younger,but not really young,she got lucky and got cast as a minor character on a sorta successful sit-com,where surprisingly enough,she played a dingbat. Ok,maybe not so surprising.
Despite the fact that it became apparent after the show ended that what little brilliance she displayed as a second-tier character on the show came from the script. This didn't stop her from assuming she was a brilliant actress and comedienne though,and it seems evident she was arrogant and demanding when it came to getting new gigs,and nobody would hire her.
So she hit the stand-up routine based on her fame as a teebee comedienne,and pretty much bombed there,too. What little "gold" she struck came from making a few jokes about how homosexuals are treated,so they adopted her as a spokescritter/pet. I even saw one video where a group of homos on a chartered flight to some tropical island even hired her to do her stand-up "camp" routine for them mid-flight. For reasons that still escape me,part of her routine was to take some/most of her clothes off,and back then she had a seriously nice body. Don't ask me why homo males thought that was entertaining because I don't have a clue,but they seemed to eat it up.
Since then the only time I have heard from her was when she purposely involved herself in situations by making ridiculous statements in order to draw attention to herself and get her name out in the news. Even those efforts to be an attention whore failed,because after the initial report,nothing more would be heard about her.
Now she is trying to ride the leftist anti-Trump train into relevance. I don't think that is going to work for her,either. I don't think anything is going to work for her because once you scratch below her surface,I don't think you are going to find anything there.

When his old campaign manager was indicted Monday, Mr. Trump called me on the phone, crying like a baby, and begged me to endorse him. I said, "You're already president, Mr. President. You were elected." He said, "I'd still like your endorsement." I have a recording of the phone call. It's so sad. Donald Trump is done. He couldn't get elected dogcatcher in New York, his hometown. I was very very nice about it. Very nice. But New Yorkers love dogs and he does not. There are 14 recorded instances of him kicking small dogs, and I have documentary proof of all but two of them.
Plus many other instances of him running around grabbing women's cats. Knocked on the door, grabbed the cat, walked away. Just to show that a famous rich guy could get away with it. Where is the apology? No, the man couldn't even get a job as a school crossing guard in New York. Look at him leading his grandchildren toward the helicopter — thank God there's a Marine there to keep them from walking into the rotor.

A key facet of his modus operandi is the way he manages to bypass a generally hostile media and speak directly to his constituency – essentially ordinary people who’ve had just about enough of politically correct nonsense – using social media.
Straight laced conservatives deplore this. They think it’s undignified. Even that it trivializes the presidential office and undermines Trump’s mission.

People shouldn’t be alarmed that the president is using social media. Everyone’s on it, especially millennials. It’s a normal part of most people’s lives. Just think of Donald Trump as America’s first millennial president.

I’ve never heard anyone voice alarm that the President IS using social media (after all, it’s not like he’s breaking new ground simply by using it: Obama used social media); however, I’ve heard many (myself included) who have voiced alarm about HOW Trump is using social media: to spew childish nicknames, to attempt to settle petty squabbles, to distract, to mislead, to spread conspiracy theories/other unproven accusations, and to personally attack members of the party he’s supposed to be leading. It’s HOW he’s using it that I believe is ultimately hurting him and is the cause for alarm.

Agreed. Trump's twitter antics have hurt his ability to govern. My biggest concern is that they hurt his ability to attract and retain the folks he needs to implement his salutary agenda to roll back the leviathan state.

Panetta seemed taken aback by Pompeo's answer.
Pompeo, as congenially as he could, went in for the kill.
Noting that the world is a dangerous place with more flash-points than ever, he calmly noted that "those all existed before January 20 of this year. So 'message discipline' -- as you referred to it -- got us to those places." The CIA director paused to let the slow burn hit those in the audience, who reacted with nervous laughter and a smattering of applause. He added, "What I mean is, we shouldn't over-attribute the place we find ourselves in the world today to things that may or may not have as much impact as folks like to suggest sometimes." Panetta flailed wildly in response: "You don't just roll a grenade in the room, have things blow up, then not have a strategy for how the hell you deal with it!"

I'll bet real folding money that if you post this thread in the "Exclusive Content: Editorial" section as a body of your own work (linking all the articles), you could make this into any mosaic you wanted.
It appears your complaint is that it's no longer in News, and it ceased to be that when you decided to make it into a "mosaic [you] were trying to paint." After that it became your original body of work, for which I'd think you would be proud.
