Judge orders Stormy Daniels to pay Trump $293K in legal fees

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered adult-film star Stormy Daniels to pay President Trump more than $293,000 in legal fees amid their ongoing legal battles.
U.S. District Judge James Otero ordered Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, to pay the fees in her defamation case against Trump, which Otero dismissed in October.
Daniels alleged that Trump defamed her in an April tweet that mocked her claims that a man threatened her in 2011 to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump.
Shortly after Daniels and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, released a forensic sketch of the man who allegedly threatened her, Trump posted a side-by-side photo suggesting that the man was Daniels’s ex-husband.
After the defamation case failed, Trump’s attorneys had requested that Daniels pay them $340,000 in legal fees.

Adult film star Stormy Daniels must pay President Trump $293,000 in legal fees, a judge ruled on Tuesday.
"The U.S. District Court today ordered Stormy Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford) to pay President Trump $292,052.33 to reimburse his attorneys’ fees (75% of his total legal bill), plus an additional $1,000 in sanctions to punish Daniels for having filed a meritless lawsuit against the President designed to chill his free speech rights," Charles J. Harder, the president's legal counsel, said in a statement.
"The court’s order," Harder said, "along with the court’s prior order dismissing Stormy Daniels’ defamation case against the President, together constitute a total victory for the President, and a total defeat for Stormy Daniels in this case."

Not really. She’s got way more than that in suspect crowd funding money. Plus, her main civil suit is still pending. The real laugher is, for a little less than the $293K, Trump could have paid off Daniels and McDougal a decade ago and it never would have gotten to the point of a criminal charge.

The point of her original civil suit was to break the NDA, because her attorneys claimed it was not valid, without his signature. Trump publicly claimed to have no knowledge of the payment or NDA, at one point. Now, he claims it was a private payment to protect his marriage. These types of contradictory statements, not made under oath, are admissible in civil suits. At the very least, she’s likely to break the NDA, given it now falls under a criminal charge with at least one person - Cohen. Once officially freed from the NDA, multi-million dollar offers will pour in, whether she gets damages in the case, or not.
