A delegation of the NAACP plans to travel to Geneva, Switzerland in March to present its concerns to the UN Human Rights Council as it reviews the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

AFRO reports:

“We intend to raise our continued concern with voter suppression laws that are taking place at state and local levels across the United States,” said Jokata Eaddy, NAACP senior director for voting rights. “We will also raise the issue of the denial of voting rights to District of Columbia residents, and the continued practice of felony disenfranchisement.”

The delegation will press the UN to recommend that voting rights be automatically restored to felons upon their release from prison, that a study be conducted on the disproportionate impact of felony disenfranchisement on minority populations and that defendants be advised of the voting rights implications of their cases and that ex-offenders be advised of the steps to restore their voting rights upon release from prison.

In 2012, a partner group of the United Nations deployed 44 observers from countries such as Germany, France, Serbia, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan to observe the U.S. election amid concerns of voter suppression efforts by conservative groups.

This is so sad and pathetic they go to the UN to help them cheat the vote. Especially ignoring the black panthers case.

Does anyone remember hearing about the 44 UN observers saying they were appalled no VOTER ID was required in some areas?

wonder how many 5-star hotels they'll be staying at, and what sort of tours they'll be going on as they while away the hours waiting to see some UN potentate?
