US declares state of emergency over monkeypox

The Biden administration declared a health emergency over the growing monkeypox outbreak Thursday.
The declaration allows the federal government to amp up its response to the virus without the usual regulatory barriers.
“I want to make an announcement today that I will be declaring a public health emergency,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said in a call with reporters Thursday about the monkeypox outbreak.
“We’re prepared to take our response to the next level in addressing this virus.”
“We urge every American to take monkeypox seriously and to take responsibility and help us tackle this virus,” he continued.

Don't give Fauci and his CDC buddies any ideas. Obviously by this, they do not understand jokes.
I will guarantee there are a thousand times more cases of syphilis or mononucleosis right now at this very moment. But 'real' illnesses do not matter unless they have a scary name and can be exploited to steal elections.
Everyone predicted and knew they would do this even two years ago. We were all just waiting for it.

Monkeypox
- Monkeypox is spread by close contact and exposure to an infected person's respiratory droplets, skin lesions or other bodily fluids.
- Monkeypox symptoms include swollen lymph nodes, fever, and a rash that may initially be mistaken for chickenpox or a sexually transmitted disease if in the genital or anal region.
- The infection can be fatal, but it most often clears up on its own.
- Monkeypox may be most severe in young children.
- Vaccines can prevent monkeypox, but widespread vaccination is not likely to be necessary because cases are rare outside of outbreaks.
- The infection is spreading, but because transmission requires close personal contact, a pandemic such as the one caused by SARS-CoV-2 (the coronavirus that causes COVID-19) is not expected.
