Trump lawyer arranged $130,000 payment for porn star's silence about alleged sexual encounter with president: Report

A lawyer for President Trump reportedly arranged a $130,000 payment to a former porn star just weeks before the 2016 presidential election to stay quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump.
People familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal that Trump’s longtime lawyer Michael Cohen arranged a payment to Stephanie Clifford in October 2016 during negotiations of a nondisclosure agreement.
Clifford, 38, has told people privately that she had a sexual encounter with Trump after they met in July 2006 in Lake Tahoe. Trump married his wife, Melania, in 2005.

I have no idea if this story is true or not but there are some curious things about it. In all of these types of payoffs you usually are required to sign a document that prevents you from disclosing that you were paid off. Rose McGowan reportedly did such with Weinstein in 1997 and recently reneged on the agreement. No surprise there that Stormy would issue a denial. I would expect her to so I wouldn't put much weight on that letter. It also is very strange that she would sign a statement using her stage name. Her legal name is Stephanie Clifford.
She supposedly was paid this money shortly before the election and she abruptly cancelled a tv appearance she was scheduled for about the same time. Was the payoff to prevent her from talking about this affair right before the election? It has been alleged that the money was transferred to her through a trust account belonging to her attorney. It has also been reported that she had told friends about her affair with Trump. There is a photograph of her with Trump at a golf tournament but that means nothing. He has his picture taken with lots of people however he will most likely say that he has met her or even knows her.

At this point I don’t think we can say whether this is true or not. Yes, it’s certainly right in line with the adulterous behavior Trump himself bragged about in one of his books. Still, I’m not personally going to make a judgment right now.

It didn't take any particular brilliance to come to the conclusion that you were protecting the "honor" of your beloved President by accusing those participating in the humor as being DU types because of their lack of "respect." If a person really has no idea of the conservative mindset regarding morality during the Clinton era, they should get informed.

A person making comments about Clinton's immorality and impeachment on a public forum ought to be at least informed as to what happened, and how pretty much every conservative reacted to it. (It's not hard to find).
Now maybe some of them were pretending to care and didn't actually care back then and that he was totally without morals, but the vast, VAST majority of us cared deeply that a creep like Clinton was in the Oval Office.
And many of us still have the values we had then. :shrug:

Seeing the same hypocrisy on conservative Facebook post on the same topic. All too quick to react posting it's "Fake news" to the "who cares, if he had an affair" comments. Did we expect anything less when he was running way ahead in the primaries inspite of earlier stories of affairs, and all the gaffes, ugly comments, and awful tweets he made. His supporters didn't care then and they don't care now.

Oh but this supporter DID care then. I agonized long and hard over voting for the man. I did not go into the voting booth blind and knew what I was getting. Or thought I did.
In retrospect, I did not. I am pleased with the choice I made as PDJT has not proven to be what I thought he would be. I am actually pleased with the vast majority of PDJT’s first year. Until he pleases the “TruCons!†By going hard left, I will continue to support him.

If there's anything to the story, it'd be less about the daliances a decade ago and more about the fact he has lawyers and acquaintances acting as bagmen in recent times to buy the silence of people with embarrassing or damaging information.

I don’t think so. I read/saw somewhere that he had to do some serious convincing to get her to even go out with him as she was leery. But who really knows? And after all we’ve had to deal with the previous eight years, does anybody truly care anymore? I’m just grateful to have a First Lady that doesn’t have a penis.

By the precedent recently established in Alabama, the fact that someone is a Democrat activist apparently cannot be used to establish motive, nor discredit testimony, even based on altered documents which proved effall anyway, even in close proximity to an impending election.
"Fake but accurate" has been upgraded to 'just believe it because they want you to', and evidence otherwise (or refuted/tampered/proof of forgery) doesn't matter.

Funny thing I noticed about exotic dancers when I was dealing blackjack in a titty bar during a slow spell in the oil patch: While there were a few who strutted their stuff on the street (sometimes looking for 'dates'), most of the dancers left dressed in basic casual clothes, the sort that blended in so well, if I hadn't known them and what they did for a living, I would not have been able to sort them out of the crowd at the grocery store.
Any porn star who married money would never be able to live a normal life--the media microscope would ever be on that, the relationship (assuming it was a genuine personal and not just physical attraction) would never be able to shed that optic. Getting out of that limelight would require getting out of the limelight altogether. Anonymity would be the only chance to retire and live anything approaching a normal life afterwards.
