National/Breaking News / Re: Drinking Water Warning Issued Nationwide

I recall the argument back then...that rainwater collected on your own property is NOT yours to keep.

...something to do with "water rights", etc..  A barrel of rainwater becomes a pond; becomes a lake.

Haven't heard of the law ever being enforced, however.

They're trying the same thing out here using 'native' water rights to supersede legal water rights... First nation rights (they were here first) supersede everything...

But out here, dumbass laws are summarily ignored.
It's a Western thing.

I know. They keep reminding me it isn't supported and I must upgrade. For our purposes, though, and for the time being, here we'll stay.

Used Win10 boxen, easily 10x the power of a win7 era machine, are all over the place for fifty bucks or less.

Why in God's name would he do that? What was the context?

It was glowing  headlines  of what a Donald Trump second term would look like that was posted on his so called TruthSocial. They claimed that a Staffer  put it on and did not see the word which is probably true. It’s not anything Donald Trump himself said

But this is death by a 1000 cuts. If you include things like “dictator for a day,”  referring to his opponents as vermin, using the phrase “poisoning our blood,” having a Holocaust denier at Mar a Lago, and his admiration for dictators, he is giving the Biden campaign and Democrats plenty of fodder for their campaign commercials that you will certainly see this fall

Comey slithers out from under his rock, says Trump will use FBI to target his enemies
May 22, 2024 | Tom Tillison
In a clear sign that the election is not far off, disgraced former FBI director James Comey has crawled out from under whatever rock he has been hiding under to attack former President Donald Trump.

Comey appeared on the MSNBC Democratic propaganda program Morning Joe to take aim at the man who fired him, claiming Trump “is a threat to the rule of law.”

“He is a threat to the rule of law in America. To me, that’s what this election is about,” Comey said. “It’s not about policy differences, it’s about what kind of country are we going to be. If he has the ability, smarter than he was last time to use the power of the Department of Justice and the FBI to target his enemies especially, the rule of law in America will change in a way that we haven’t seen in our lifetime.”

He added that Trump will surround himself with the “bottom of the barrel” and that those individuals will carry out whatever orders they are given.

Mar-a-Lago Raid / Re: BREAKING>>FBI raids Trump’s Mar-a-Lago
« Last post by Timber Rattler on Today at 02:28:13 pm »
I read the emails in question, and they don't say what MTG and others are claiming at the top of the lungs.  The key word is "engage," and it is not used in the context of armed combat as in the military but in the legal sense, in which attorneys for DOJ and USSS "engage with one another to negotiate some agreement to enter Mar-a-Lago.  So, no the FBI was not planning on shooting it out with the Secret Service, despite the hysteria.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: ‘Biden DOJ and FBI were planning to assassinate Pres Trump’
May 22, 2024 | Kevin Haggerty

Unsealed filings in the former president’s classified documents case prompted a deadly serious conclusion from Georgia Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R) and calls for accountability.

“Does everyone get it yet???!!!!”

At the time former President Donald Trump’s indefinitely delayed trial was meant to have been underway, new filings were unsealed that included details about the “Operations Order” the FBI was working with when they raided Mar-a-Lago in August 2022. That it contained the Department of Justice’s policy on “Use Of Deadly Force” had the congresswoman concluding the current administration had green lit a plan “to assassinate Pres Trump.”

Tuesday on X, Greene had made the assertion while captioning a Truth Social post from the president that read, “WOW! I just came out of the Biden Witch Hunt Trial in Manhattan, the ‘Icebox,’ and was shown Reports that Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their illegal and UnConstitutional Raid of Mar-a-Lago, AUTHORIZED THE FBI TO USE DEADLY (LETHAL) FORCE. NOW WE KNOW, FOR SURE, THAT JOE BIDEN IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO DEMOCRACY. HE IS MENTALLY UNFIT TO HOLD OFFICE — 25TH AMENDMENT!”

She remarked, “I made sure that he knew. The Biden DOJ and FBI were planning to assassinate Pres Trump and gave the green light. Does everyone get it yet???!!!! What are Republicans going to do about it? I tried to oust our Speaker who funded Biden’s DOJ AND FBI, but Democrats stopped it.”

EXCLUSIVE: 'Seriously Depressing Place' -- Trump's Top Allies, VP Contenders Describe Sights & Sounds Of NY Courtroom
Henry Rodgers

Many of former President Donald Trump’s closest allies in Congress — and rumored vice presidential contenders — described a “depressing” and dreary scene in the former president’s Manhattan courtroom during exclusive interviews with the Daily Caller.

Since his trial began in April, a number of allies from the House and Senate have visited Trump in court to show their support as he and his campaign are restricted by a gag order from New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan. The gag order has hamstrung his campaign, preventing the GOP nominee from speaking about individuals like Matthew Colangelo, a lead prosecutor in the case who spent two years serving in the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ).

Allies have stepped in to defend Trump in the court of public opinion while he cannot do so himself.

“These are politically motivated trials, and you can feel that the system there has been rigged against him. This is not about justice, it’s all about politics,” House Speaker Mike Johnson told the Caller. “The judge’s attitude towards President Trump is shown clearly by his actions, procedural decisions, and his broad gag order. They are working to keep him in the courtroom and off the campaign trail. The people of this country can see that the judicial system there is using all the tools at its disposal to punish one president and provide cover for another.”

High inflation is still a burden to Americans – especially parents, Fed survey shows
65% of US adults said chronic inflation made their financial lives 'worse' in 2023

By Megan Henney FOXBusiness

High inflation continued to inflict financial pain on many Americans at the end of 2023, even as price pressures within the economy gradually cooled, according to Federal Reserve data published Tuesday.

Findings from the Fed's Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households report for 2023 show that chronic inflation made financial lives "worse" for about 65% of U.S. adults. Among those respondents, 19% said their financial situation was "much worse" due to higher prices.

And while 34% of respondents said their family's monthly income had climbed in the past year, 38% reported their spending had also increased.

About three-fourths of adults – 72% – said they were doing "OK" financially as of October 2023 – down from 78% in 2021 and the lowest rate since 2016. That number is much lower among parents. The share of parents doing at least "OK" financially fell 5 percentage points to 64%, the lowest level since 2015 when the survey began.

While inflation has fallen considerably from a peak of 9.1% notched during June 2022, it remains well above the Federal Reserve's 2% goal. On top of that, prices are up a stunning 19.4% since January 2021, before the inflation crisis began.
