Megyn Kelly Is Said To Be Leaving Fox News for NBC
January 3, 2017
By Jim Rutenberg
Megyn Kelly, who arrived at Fox News 12 years ago as a television news neophyte but rose to become one of its two biggest stars, has decided to leave the network to take on a broad new role at NBC News for an undisclosed amount, people briefed on the negotiations said on Tuesday.
The NBC News chairman, Andrew Lack, wooed Ms. Kelly away from Fox News by offering her a triple role in which she will host her own daytime news and discussion program, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and take regular part in the network’s special political programming and other big-event coverage.
The move will herald a seismic shift in the cable news landscape, where Ms. Kelly had become the second-most watched host — after Bill O’Reilly of Fox News — and often helped define the national political debate, especially over the last year as Donald J. Trump regularly attacked her, at times in viciously personal terms.
Ms. Kelly’s departure would upend Fox News’s vaunted prime-time lineup and inject a new dose of tumult just a few months after the departure of the network’s powerful founding chairman, Roger Ailes, who was ousted after several women made allegations that he sexually harassed them.

If this is in the wrong place, mods feel free to move it wherever.
-
Seismic shift? Hardly.
I fully expect Ms. Kelly to receive a tepid welcome from NBC's news staff.
-
She can finally come out as the Liberal she's always been.

Her reception at NBC....Compared to the to Titanic.... hit a heatberg.
-
Say "hello" to Tomi Lahren!
But, I'm surprised she's not worthy in their eyes to anchor the evening news....in a Bret Baier format news hour.
-
I don't have much of an opinion of her either way, but I don't think she's a liberal or a conservative. I'm reading her book, and she says more than once that she was raised without poliltics and has remained that way. Her Trump problems didn't make her a liberal. She asked hard questions of a man running for president, which is what she should have done.
She says someone at school told her daughter Donald Trump was going to kill her (the child), and Megyn told her that Trump was a very good daddy and would never do such a thing that to a little girl or boy.
The book is fairly interesting, I guess...I needed a read and it's currently fulfilling the purpose. One thing about Megyn, though---she's a chronic bragger, almost to a cringeworthy degree.
-
She can finally come out as the Liberal she's always been.
BUMP!

Wouldn't that be great for Fox News. I'd trade MeAgain Kelly for Tami in a New York second. I might even get cable again just to watch Tami rip liberal heads off.
Maybe Greta can come back now?
-
In my view, liberal but not always liberal.
-
She can finally come out as the Liberal she's always been.
@dfwgator, why do you think she's a leftist? (I'm assuming that's what you meant by liberal).
-
Say "hello" to Tomi Lahren!
Yes to Tomi or Lauren Southern or newcomer Scarlett Farkrar
@DCPatriot

This type of move always turns out great....

I don't have much of an opinion of her either way, but I don't think she's a liberal or a conservative.
I have always thought most of the women on Fox are not social conservatives but financially conservative but neither far left liberal or far right conservative.
I also think many of the independent news babes out there, Lauren Southern, Tomi Lahren types ( though not specifically them) are really more liberal than they appear but use conservatism to milk their career. If you are a hot woman easier to break into conservative media than liberal media.
@CatherineofAragon

About the only on air personality on FOX who wasn't part of the Trump campaign.

Tomi Lehren is as dumb as a box of hammers.
-
About the only on air personality on FOX who wasn't part of the Trump campaign.
Interestingly, Hannity was the only on air personality on FOX that wasn't sexually harassed by Ailes.
-
Say "hello" to Tomi Lahren!
If Fox hires that unqualified bimbo—and that's putting it mildly—it will prove they are just as corrupt as the rest of the media.
It can't hurt to actually put a man in a media position like this, can it?
-
Yes to Tomi or Lauren Southern or newcomer Scarlett Farkrar
@DCPatriot
I'd prefer they bring in Kennedy from Fox Biz. Fox has a pretty deep bench of talent: two young potential stars in Joanne N and Kat Timpf, usually on the late night Fox show started by Gutfeld.
-
@CatherineofAragon
If one reads the article, NBC asked her want she wanted in terms of time, then tailored her wants to fit what she wanted. The article says she will have a daily show that allows her to see her children off to school in the morning and have dinner with the family in the evening. Her daily show will not be just about politics and she will bring in panels for discussion. Then, she will have a Sunday evening show.
Her contact with Fox is not up until summer and it is not known if Fox will release her now to join NBC.
When she is on NBC, I will watch her just as I have on Fox. In my opinion, she is more conservative than liberal and I have watched her since she began with Fox.
-
About the only on air personality on FOX who wasn't part of the Trump campaign.
@Cripplecreek
Probably because she was planning the move or at least leaving her options open.
Do they really think she'll draw in additional viewers? I don't watch NBC news and certainly wont bother to tune in just to see her.
-
Interestingly, Hannity was the only on air personality on FOX that wasn't sexually harassed by Ailes.
Do we know that for sure... :bolt:
-

Probably made a deal to stay off Trump's turf.

@CatherineofAragon
@mirraflake
You might be right about the women at Fox. I expect Shannon Bream might be socially conservative; she's a Liberty University graduate.
I don't even know who Southern and Lahren are, lol.
-
She can finally come out as the Liberal she's always been.
She's a liberal because she opposed liberal Trump??
How exactly does that work?
I've always thought she was pretty objective, leaning conservative. She's been very hard on millennial college aged "cupcakes" and their desire to be protected from anything they disagree with.
That upped her value in my book.
And she called Trump on his overt misogyny, which did a great service to the women in this country, none of whom Trump respects.
However, since I now don't watch anything on TrumpFoxTrump any more, I won't miss her......
-
Do we know that for sure... :bolt:
GOOD question!

@Victoria33
I've never had a problem with her...she has always seemed pretty balanced to me. I've seen her rip into Republicans, which caused some on the right to instantly brand her a liberal, and then she would turn right around and tear into a leftwinger. That's her job.
-
Do we know that for sure... :bolt:

Lmao!
I saw a picture of a bumpersticker---"I wish my wife would look at me the way Sean Hannity looks at Donald Trump."

I don't think he harassed Van Susteren, either. Can't imagine why, though.

Some folks can't take a tough interviewer. Some folks think you have to be nasty to make your case. She tends to be nasty.
She also isn't balanced. She'll throw softballs to one person and annihilate the other person.

I wanted Cruz to have to deal with tough questions. Not only because it was a vehicle to explain his policies and set the record straight on any misunderstandings, but because it showed the manner in which he handled aggressiveness from the media.
-
@Frank Cannon
I don't think he harassed Van Susteren, either. Can't imagine why, though.
@CatherineofAragon
If he had messed with Van Susteren, I think she would have slugged him. She is a tough cookie and I watched her when she was on CNN, then went to Fox where I watched her all the time.

Over a dozen years ago I started at Fox News in a job that would change my life. Now, I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched for the experiences I've had. I have agreed to join NBC News, where I will be launching a new daytime show Monday through Friday, along with a Sunday evening news magazine program. I will also participate in NBC's breaking news coverage and its political and special events coverage.
While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge. I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters. More to come soon.
Happy New Year, and God bless.
-
That's because Ted Cruz is a grown up.
I started turning to CNN for election coverage because their across the board hate for republicans made for more balanced coverage than FOX fawning over Trump all day and all night.
In fact one of the main reasons I left TOS was because of all the self appointed minders who made sure to tell everyone what news was legit and what wasn't. Today they're all over the place declaring anything they don't like to be "fake news" as if they're self appointed arbiters of truth. I'm a big boy and I can make up my own mind. Besides, most of the sources used by those declaring everything to be fake news are blogs with zero vetting themselves.

I can't say that I exactly like Megyn because she's not exactly likable but she is professional and has taken undeserved abuse for not worshipping the trumpster.

I saw perky Katie on the Today show as I was getting ready for work this morning. Now I remember why I disliked her so.
About Megyn's departure.... I never watched her on Fox and I'll surely never watch her on NBC. I found her rather irritating to watch.

Just can't agree, RIV. He was running for leader of the free world; we deserved to find out what he was made of.

As far as I'm concerned, pretty much everything that made Trump look presidential, after investigation of the facts, was "fake news."
Anyone at TOS declaring they oppose fake news is delusional.

You're absolutely right @CatherineofAragon .
If a guy can't handle tough questions from legitimate journalists (or even the average leftist pseudo-journalist) he will never survive in the real world of politics......... especially presidential politics.
Just imagine all the childish outbursts we're in for in the next four years.
And I was so hoping after eight years of Obama, we'd finally get an adult in the Oval Office.....
Sigh..............

Would have loved to see her get the evening news anchor spot. But that would have meant butting heads with the producers lining of the story content for the show.

Megyn is a NY Liberal Hack, she'll fit right in at NBC.

Megyn Kelly ADMITS to Ted Cruz the record shows he DID NOT SUPPORT legalization in 2013 Amnesty showdown

Ted Cruz was on with Megyn Kelly right after the debate tonight and midway through the interview she brought up her question to him about his poison pill amendments in the 2013 showdown on amnesty in the Senate.
What I thought was noteworthy was that Kelly admitted to Cruz that after thoroughly reviewing his record on whether or not he supported legalization, she believes his record does support his argument that his amendments were really poison pill amendments and that he never actually supported legalization.

NBC is where journalist careers go to die. MeAgain is finished as a journalist. Murdock sent her on a Kamakazi mission to sink Trump and she failed. Murdock does not reward failure so MeAgain got canned. Had MeAgain succeeded in getting Hillary elected Murdock would have richly rewarded her. Now because Fox News could not bring down Trump (and they tried) Murdock got to kiss Trump and make up. A very distasteful thing for a billionaire like Murdock to do.
Re Cruz, MeAgain played footie with Ted every time she interviewed him. Nothing but softballs.

Cruz embarrassed the democrats by offering them everything for illegals except citizenship, and they predictably dropped the subject since Cruz had taken new democrat votes off the table. In doing so of course Cruz supported his own amendment. But Trump is not capable of understanding that kind of subtlety; he and his sycophants call Cruz "Lyin' Ted" because Trump can't debate any subject on a rational, factual basis, and is forced to resort to taunting and name-calling.
Much of Trump's "rationale" against Cruz was that he was "owned" by Goldman Sachs, yet Trump has now appointed three GS alumni - Bannon, Mnuchin, and Cohn. In retrospect "Lyin' Don" would be more accurate.

Well at least you are honest enough to admit the obvious that Cruz was in favor of legalization for the tens of millions of illegals here in the USA. I appreciate that.
-
You are correct @HoustonSam. @TomSea and @jpsb have their narrative and seldom deviate from it. Do they actually believe it? Hard to imagine that they do, but who knows?
Hey you don't believe me? Listen to Ted in his own words talk about making the illegals legal and "bringing them out of the shadows". And he is telling the honest truth when he says rejecting this amendment will make it more likely that this entire bill will fail. and again when he says "I don't want immigration reform to fail"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CwVrfydjOI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CwVrfydjOI)
Cruz was right had his amendment passed it was much more likely the GOP House would have passed "immigration reform" that my friend is not a poison bill that is the exact opposite of a poison bill. And the courts would have thrown out the "no pathway to citizenship" part in a NY second.
-

Cruz was right had his amendment passed it was much more likely the GOP House would have passed "immigration reform" that my friend is not a poison bill that is the exact opposite of a poison bill. And the courts would have thrown out the "no pathway to citizenship" part in a NY second.
Spin it however you want, the fact remains that Cruz forced the democrats to drop the issue themselves. It never came to a vote precisely because of his proposed amendment. He used the tools and powers of his office to get the result that he, and we, wanted. Funny how when Trump wins for himself he's a genius, when Cruz wins for us he's a liar.
Meanwhile "Lyin' Don" still has those Goldman Sachs types lined up for his cabinet. Why doesn't he offer a position to Heidi Cruz?

@mirraflake
That Lauren Southern gal is one brave woman. Cute too.
@jpsb
Yep, she is. The next generation of up-and-coming conservatives has some real stars.

Cruz often takes 250 words, to say what only takes 25 words to say.
Lawyers bill by the hour. Why not drag the darn stuff out?
@truth_seeker
I think it would be more refreshing and succinct if Cruz would just make some crack about the size of his genitals, don't you?

Hey you don't believe me? Listen to Ted in his own words talk about making the illegals legal and "bringing them out of the shadows". And he is telling the honest truth when he says rejecting this amendment will make it more likely that this entire bill will fail. and again when he says "I don't want immigration reform to fail"

Even a fellow traveler (NY Liberal) Megyn Kelly understands what a 'poison pill' is and admitted to Cruz that that was in fact what he did-DESTROYED THE GANG of 8 Immigration Reform.

Bull the gang of 8 PASSED in the Senate Cruz did nothing to stop it. Gang of 8 died when Cantor lost his House seat solely to the issue of amnesty. Go pedal you revisionist history to some fellow globalist. I know the truth.

Once again pure Bull, I have presented Cruzs' own words out of his own lips and you guys still don't get it. There is a reason he's called lying Ted. And Cruz stopped nothing "immigration reform" (amnesty) passed in the Senate.
And yall think Trumpers are cultists.

You are correct and I am incorrect that the bill passed the Senate without Cruz's amendment, but was not taken up in the House. Point taken.
However I retract nothing on the effect of Cruz's approach - he revealed that the democrats care nothing for illegals beyond securing their votes.
Many (including myself) think Trumpers are cultists because "own words out of his own lips and you guys still don't get it" regularly indicts Trump with no acknowledgement from his supporters. Goldman Sachs was bad during the primaries, but now three Trump appointees are GS alumni. He opposed the USSC homosexual marriage decision last January, but after the election was OK with it because it was "settled" in law. He wants to prosecute Hillary in October, then in November he doesn't want to hurt her. He wants to deport all illegals last February, then after the election he only wants those with criminal records. And there are many more self-serving public contradictions in mere opinion without immediate policy implications. Does any of that matter to you?
I'll acknowledge here that a good case can be made for Cruz flip-flopping on legalization; I don't think he did, but it's not an unreasonable conclusion to draw. Can you acknowledge that there is a reasonable case Trump has flip-flopped on the items I've listed or on any other items, and that those flip-flops are actually failures rather than some kind of 9 dimensional stealth Jedi chess?
