A new law makes porn sites liable for content deemed “harmful to minors” if it doesn’t install age verification technology for anyone accessing them in Louisiana—and it’s already affecting how people in the state access Pornhub.

The law, which was signed by Louisiana’s Democratic governor John Bel Edwards in June, became effective on January 1, 2023.

The law, passed as Act 440, states:

“Any commercial entity that knowingly and intentionally publishes or distributes material harmful to minors on the internet from a website that contains a substantial portion of such material shall be held liable if the entity fails to perform reasonable age verification methods to verify the age of individuals attempting to access the material.”

A “substantial portion” is 33.3 percent or more material on a site that’s “harmful to minors.”

Damn, if they really care about kids they would have included "government entity" because that's where the most damaging information to our children comes from, and I mean every government agency from education to the Surgeon General, FDA, NIH, NIAID and every alphabet institution between.

Having 'adult ID' in the case of a government website would not help. The most fanatical Liberal 'believers' are over 21. That is not to say they have an 'adult' mentality, but the numbers are legit.

Good, it is a start... unfortunately it is also a job parents should be doing. Now if they can stop the advertising on every other web site... The ads at the Vice website to glance at this article were so bad I was ashamed to have the kids walk in where I was reading it. I use a program to quickly block the content, but often it sticks it neck out when I reading news stories across the web, thus I require the kids to announce when they are walking up to my computer area. Vice might have to have age verification just due to it's ad connection.
