EXCLUSIVE: Illegal Immigrant Mom Arrested For Trying To Hire Hitman Was Released From ICE Detention Years Ago

May 09, 2024 1:09 PM ET

An illegal immigrant mother arrested for attempting to pay a hitman to kill witnesses involved in her son’s murder trial was previously detained by federal authorities but later released, immigration officials confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Josefina Cardona-Cardona, an illegal migrant from Guatemala, was arrested on Monday after allegedly agreeing to pay an undercover agent to kill two cooperating witnesses in her son’s fatal stabbing case in Palm Beach County, Florida. Immigration and Customs and Enforcement (ICE) confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation that Cardona-Cardona entered the U.S. unlawfully and was taken into the agency’s custody in 2019, but was later released and referred to a program intended to monitor migrants waiting for their court dates.

The Guatemalan migrant seemingly did not comply with the program and skipped out on her immigration hearing.

“Josefina Cardona-Cardona, is an unlawfully present non-citizen from Guatemala, who entered the country illegally on an unknown date and location without admission or parole,” an ICE spokesperson said to the DCNF.

Is UK Rainfall Becoming More Extreme? Not at Oxford.
MAY 9, 2024

By Paul Homewood

It’s worth taking a closer look at daily rainfall in Oxford, as it has such a long database, back to 1827. It tells us a lot about the weather in recent years, things that the Met Office want to hide from us.

Although we keep being told by the Met Office that our weather has been so wet in recent years because a “a warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture”, the principal factor is, and always has been, the number of days when it rains. In other words a meteorological phenomenon, not a climatic one.

The general definition of a rainday is when rainfall exceeds 1mm. The chart below plots these at Oxford. Data is from KNMI:

https://climexp.knmi.nl/data/pgdcnUK000056225.dat

Last year was 5th wettest and also featured high in the number of raindays. The years 2000, 2012 and 2014 also feature highly, as well as earlier ones such as 1872, 1916, 1927, 1951, 1958 and 1960.

Cats, dogs, rabbits, geese and frogs lived in the high Arctic during a hotter era 9,000 years ago
Norwegian landscape

This new study pokes holes in the dogma five different ways
Credit to Kenneth Richards who found the study and discussed it at NoTricksZone

Bones in a cave inside the Arctic circle show that the world was hotter, the climate is always changing, and life adapts very well.

A special cave in far northern Norway has a a trove of thousands of old bones. They are deposited in layers that stretch back from 5,800 years ago to 13,000 years ago.  And it’s been a radical change: at the start, the cave was submerged under the ocean, so the bones are mostly marine species. But a few thousand years later the weather was warm, and birds and mammals had moved in. By 6,000 years ago the researchers estimate it was the hottest part of the Holocene and 1.5°–2.4°C warmer than the modern era of 1961–1990.

After that, the cave was blocked by scree, and the bone fragments sat there seemingly undisturbed for nearly 6,000 years while the ice sheets moved and the Vikings came and went and the world cooled. Then in 1993 someone happened to build a road nearby and found the cave. Now a team have analyzed the DNA in the layers and discovered that far from being an ecological disaster, when the Earth was hotter the Arctic must have been full of life. They found lemmings, shrews, voles, hares, geese, frogs, seals, and pheasants. They were also surprised to find dogs and cats there, even though there were no humans at the time (that we know of). The DNA test couldn’t distinguish whether these were our domesticated furry friends or their wild cousins. In any case, there were species that lived there then, that don’t live there now because it’s too cold.

Experts Warn U.S. Against Europe’s ‘Green’ Energy Mistakes
CATHERINE SALGADO | 5:40 PM ON MAY 06, 2024

Experts are warning the United States of America against following Europe’s disastrous policy of dependence on expensive and unreliable “green” energy. Unfortunately, the climate alarmist Biden administration seems fully committed to importing that European crisis here.

Supposedly “green” energy is actually toxic for the environment, not to mention expensive, unreliable, and inefficient. It takes up vast amounts of land, and both solar panels and wind turbines generate a lot of toxic waste, and kill birds and whales. And there is no massive climate crisis, so there’s no need to worry about gas and oil in cars or planes. Yet Europe made the foolish decision to become increasingly dependent on “green” energy, and under the Biden administration America is headed down the same path. Experts are warning America before it’s too late.

Marc Morano, the publisher of CFACT’s ClimateDepot.com, explained how terrible climate alarmism is for ordinary citizens. “Germany is leading the way making sure affordable airline travel for the public is a thing of the past. You will go nowhere and be happy. France has already banned flights of two and a half hours or less,” explained Morano. “We have climate activists clamoring for flying only when it's ‘morally justifiable,’ during a declared ‘climate emergency.’”

Climate Panic May Finally Be Post-Peak: ‘Support for climate action….has softened due to a drop in the sense of urgency on this issue, particularly among younger adults’

The new Monmouth University poll, which has been surveying Americans for a decade on climate. While over 70 percent of Americans say they accept the existence of climate change, the number who see this as a very serious problem has fallen to 46 percent of respondents. That’s down from 56 percent in 2021. The drop in the perceived importance and urgency of climate change has been most pronounced among younger adults.

Among young people between the ages of 18 and those who see climate change as a very serious problem has fallen to 50 percent, down from 67 percent in 2021.

Climate concerns are also heavily bunched in certain demographic categories. While 77% of all Democrats believe climate change is very serious, only 43% of independents and 13% of Republicans do.

Have you noticed that climate change fanatics have become even more strident lately, blaming rising temperatures for everything from fewer fish to drought to earthquakes to higher insurance premiums?

We believe Americans are on to the over-the-top climate hysteria and polls show it.

Global Cooling and a New Ice Age: Never Forget (humility required in science, change)
By Robert Bradley Jr. -- May 7, 2024

“A new ice age would flood the world’s coastal cities and further lower temperatures to build up new glaciers that could eventually cover huge areas.” (1971)

The warming alarmists dismiss the cooling alarmists of yesterday as fringe and ignorant. But some of the biggest names of the day back then would not take too kindly to the know-it-alls of today.

Alex Epstein has coined the term catastrophicism to describe the age-old Malthusian itch. Back in the 1970s, top scientists such as NASA’s S. I. Rasool, an atmospheric physicist at Columbia University, and Stephen Schneider of National Center for Atmospheric Research, were making headlines about future climate change–from people, not nature.

“Scientists have long debated whether man’s activity is actually heating or cooling the earth,” the Washington Post article below notes.

White House cleans-up Biden's quotes and says Americans weapons are still being sent to Israel... but issues another warning about invading Rafah

'Weapons shipments are still going to Israel,' spokesman John Kirby said
READ MORE: Biden warns Israel he will stop sending U.S. bombs

By Emily Goodin, Senior U.S. Political Reporter In Washington D.C.

The White House cleaned up President Joe Biden's threat to stop sending weapons to Israel, saying the shipments are continuing.

'Everybody keeps talking about pausing weapons shipments. Weapons shipments are still going to Israel. And they're still getting the vast, vast majority of everything that they need to defend themselves,' National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Thursday.

Biden told CNN on Wednesday that he would pause more arms shipments to Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launches a full-scale invasion of Rafah.

Israelis reacted with fury and ceasefire negotiations have stalled. Netanyahu didn't respond directly to Biden's comment, but he posted a video on social media of a defiant speech he delivered this week in which he said 'no amount of pressure' will 'stop Israel from defending itself.'

The president, last week, delayed the delivery of 3,500 bombs to the U.S.'s Middle East ally. It was the first time he used his executive power to influence Israel's approach to its war with Hamas.

But his words of warning on Wednesday was the most direct threat Biden has made to Israel during the seven-month war.

'Civilians have been killed in Rafah as a result of those bombs and other ways they go after population centers. I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven't gone into Raffa yet - I'm not supplying the weapons,' Biden said.

Kirby, however, appeared to be clarifying the president's stance.

'As the President said, Israel has not yet launched such an operation. So he was talking about what would happen in the future, if they did. That's a choice that Israel will have to make. And it's one we hope they don't,' he noted.

The Biden administration has been trying to stop Israel from launching a full-scale attack in Rafah, where more than a million Palestinian refugees have gathered.

But Kriby said Biden is 'going to continue to provide Israel with the capabilities that it needs, all of them. But he does not want certain categories of American weapons used in a particular type of operation in a particular place.'

He noted the administration is 'doing everything we can to help Israel.'
