Title: Texas Almost Went Blue! :O
Post by: WarmPotato on November 09, 2018, 04:19:27 am
The 2018 midterms have come and gone, and Ted Cruz won his hard fought battle against Robert O'Rourke. Why did Cruz struggle so much?? He won by a few percentage points, sure - but that was a close call! Ted Cruz almost lost Texas!

A senator since 2013, in a state that's been reliably red for twenty five year, TEXAS! Ted Cruz nearly lost his senate race in Texas! Was it the blue wave? The fact that his opponent spent double as much? Or maybe illegal immigration?

Whatever the reason, here's the bottom line: The Democrats almost flipped Texas. Texas almost went blue. #TedCruz nearly lost the race! #Texas nearly went to the democrats. That was a tough race, but in the end, Ted Cruz pulled the win out of his hat! Great job!

The price of a good economy,  the State started attracting liberals.

Maybe Ted Cruz isn't as likable as some people think he is, even to conservatives.

That's part of it. The other is that the place is filling up with Cali transplants and voting illegal Mexicans. Just look at how blue that southern border is turning in just a few years along with Dallas.

Lupe Valdez beat Greg Abbott by 31 percent in Dallas County.

Unless this has to do with Mexico, maybe one could move this to politics or the Texas forum. I will watch the video tomorrow and see. It is also a bit self-penned'. Maybe 'editorials as well but warm potato writes very good articles and has good videos, I don't care to spoil the fun. Thankfully, the moderators can override anything I do.

Truly, a number of persons here, do not read the World News forum.

Yeah, mostly people outside of Texas who don't know what they're talking about.

Straight party ticket voting, soon to be abolished, is a lot of the reason.
Beto voters sent inner city and close suburbs to go all blue, with very few, if any, exceptions.

Strange, but a small sampling of voters (2,000+) showed that Beto was +3 with Texas born voters, and Cruz was +15 with non-Texas born voters.
So if this is true, the people moving here to escape where they came from are getting the message.
I'd like to find that poll and dig deeper into its sample and methodology before I'd buy into this.

Beto supporters on twitter responded to this poll. by saying Texas really wasn't this Red and that new arrivals are buying into a myth.

I don't think this statement is accurate.
I think age and demographics are shifting, however.
