Sickening - the newly formed “Doctors Against Genocide” plans to infiltrate the U.S. Holocaust Museum this Thursday (12/28) to demand Israel stop defending itself against Hamas terrorism.
Who exactly is this group?
👉🏼 According to Roll Call, one of the founding members of DAG is Nidal Jboor a physician from Dearborn, MI.
👉🏼 Nidal Jboor is seen here speaking next to antisemites Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush, at an organized press conference from 12/7, demanding Israel stop attacking Hamas.
👉🏼 They were formed last month and focus solely on Israel
👉🏼 According to its website, DAG is a program of "Jetpac," a 501c3 who “seeks to build a strong American Muslim political infrastructure and increase our community’s influence”
Hamas has one goal - to murder Jews. For this physicians’ group to desecrate the Holocaust museum with their calls of a ceasefire (ie - for the Jewish nation to stop defending itself) is stomach churning.

The attack was carried out by a one-way attack drone, according to the statement, which said the three locations were “focused specifically on unmanned aerial drone activities.”
The statement said Biden ordered the retaliatory strikes after learning of the attack that wounded the U.S. service members.
“President Biden was immediately briefed on the attack this morning, and he ordered the Department of Defense to prepare response options against those responsible. Those options were then presented to the President during a call this afternoon with Secretary of Defense Austin and members of the President’s national security team,” the statement read.
“During that call, the President directed strikes against three locations utilized by Kataib Hezbollah and affiliated groups focused specifically on unmanned aerial drone activities,” the statement continued.
“The President places no higher priority than the protection of American personnel serving in harm’s way. The United States will act at a time and in a manner of our choosing should these attacks continue.”

Netanyahu’s 3 Peace Conditions: Destroy Hamas, Demilitarize Gaza, Deprogram Palestinians
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on Christmas Day laying out his three basic conditions for peace in post-war Gaza: destroy Hamas, demilitarize Gaza, and de-radicalize the Palestinian population.

Third, Gaza will have to be deradicalized. Schools must teach children to cherish life rather than death, and imams must cease to preach for the murder of Jews. Palestinian civil society needs to be transformed so that its people support fighting terrorism rather than funding it.
'Buying Quiet’: Inside the Israeli Plan That Propped Up Hamas
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gambled that a strong Hamas (but not too strong) would keep the peace and reduce pressure for a Palestinian state.
NY Times, Dec 10, 2023
Just weeks before Hamas launched the deadly Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, the head of Mossad arrived in Doha, Qatar, for a meeting with Qatari officials.
For years, the Qatari government had been sending millions of dollars a month into the Gaza Strip — money that helped prop up the Hamas government there. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel not only tolerated those payments, he had encouraged them.
During his meetings in September with the Qatari officials, according to several people familiar with the secret discussions, the Mossad chief, David Barnea, was asked a question that had not been on the agenda: Did Israel want the payments to continue?
Mr. Netanyahu’s government had recently decided to continue the policy, so Mr. Barnea said yes. The Israeli government still welcomed the money from Doha.
Allowing the payments — billions of dollars over roughly a decade — was a gamble by Mr. Netanyahu that a steady flow of money would maintain peace in Gaza, the eventual launching point of the Oct. 7 attacks, and keep Hamas focused on governing, not fighting
In interviews with more than two dozen current and former Israeli, American and Qatari officials, and officials from other Middle Eastern governments, The New York Times unearthed new details about the origins of the policy, the controversies that erupted inside the Israeli government and the lengths that Mr. Netanyahu went to in order to shield the Qataris from criticism and keep the money flowing.
The payments were part of a string of decisions by Israeli political leaders, military officers and intelligence officials — all based on the fundamentally flawed assessment that Hamas was neither interested in nor capable of a large-scale attack

For years, Netanyahu propped up Hamas. Now it’s blown up in our face
Times of Israel, Oct 8, 2023
For years, the various governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank — bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group.
The idea was to prevent Abbas — or anyone else in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank government — from advancing toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Thus, amid this bid to impair Abbas, Hamas was upgraded from a mere terror group to an organization with which Israel held indirect negotiations via Egypt, and one that was allowed to receive infusions of cash from abroad.
[...]
Additionally, since 2014, Netanyahu-led governments have practically turned a blind eye to the incendiary balloons and rocket fire from Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israel has allowed suitcases holding millions in Qatari cash to enter Gaza through its crossings since 2018, in order to maintain its fragile ceasefire with the Hamas rulers of the Strip.
Most of the time, Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset. Far-right MK Bezalel Smotrich, now the finance minister in the hardline government and leader of the Religious Zionism party, said so himself in 2015.
According to various reports, Netanyahu made a similar point at a Likud faction meeting in early 2019, when he was quoted as saying that those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza, because maintaining the separation between the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza would prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.
While Netanyahu does not make these kind of statements publicly or officially, his words are in line with the policy that he implemented.
The same messaging was repeated by right-wing commentators, who may have received briefings on the matter or talked to Likud higher-ups and understood the message.
Bolstered by this policy, Hamas grew stronger and stronger until Saturday, Israel’s “Pearl Harbor,” the bloodiest day in its history — when terrorists crossed the border, slaughtered hundreds of Israelis and kidnapped an unknown number under the cover of thousands of rockets fired at towns throughout the country’s south and center.

'Frogmen, hang gliders, kidnapped Israelis’: Netanyahu described Hamas’s plans in 2017
Times of Israel, Dec 22, 2023
Footage of Knesset hearing on 2014 Gaza war shows PM claiming he’d deterred terror group; premier lays out Hamas’s murderous plans, which came to fruition on Oct. 7, in eerie detail
In 2017, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described an onslaught by the Hamas terror group that would prove to be a prescient description of the horrifying events of October 7, but said at the time that his policies had deterred the terror group.
Hebrew-language media published footage on Thursday from a 2017 Knesset meeting in which Netanyahu described the terror group’s plans in eerie detail.
“Hamas has an operational plan for a multi-pronged attack, including thousands of missiles on Israeli cities, naval commando raids, hang gliders and incursions from dozens of tunnels, some of which come up in [Israeli] territory,” Netanyahu said during a hearing held by the parliament’s State Control Committee to discuss a report on the 2014 Gaza war against Hamas.
During the emotionally fraught three-and-a-half hour discussion, Netanyahu described the “special forces” that Hamas was training in order to murder and kidnap Israelis, a reference to the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing.
“They’ve assessed that if they can surprise us, they can put the plan into action,” Netanyahu said.
The scenario the prime minister described was similar to the events some six years later on October 7, when some 3,000 Hamas terrorists burst across the border into Israel from the Gaza Strip by land, air and sea, killing some 1,200 people and seizing over 240 hostages of all ages — mostly civilians — under the cover of a deluge of thousands of rockets fired at Israeli towns and cities.
In 2017, Netanyahu said that the Hamas leadership had begun planning a massive onslaught years earlier.
“At any given moment they could have put that plan into action, but contrary to popular opinion, we don’t control our opponent’s decisions — at most, we can influence their ability to carry them out,” he said.
While he claimed that Hamas was “deterred,” Netanyahu made it clear that he was under “no illusions .. that the terror group would abandon its plan.”
“When I thought about an infiltration of thousands of gunmen or more, seizing a town, capturing hostages, what a blow that would be, I flagged it,” Netanyahu added.
“We tried to avoid war in any way possible. We’re facing a hard and cruel enemy. To avoid escalation against an enemy like that is no mean feat. There are 30,000 [Hamas fighters in Gaza], wishing for our destruction and preparing all the time and building the means with which to kill us, to infiltrate, to attack us. People who are committed to the annihilation of Israel; it’s what they live for,” he said.
Netanyahu also highlighted his role in the policy of containment: “One of the reasons that [Hamas] is deterred is because I have a policy, that I’m not willing to tolerate droplets [of violence], and there’s always a strong reaction, usually very fast, on every such droplet.”
One of the most damning allegations in the 2017 report contended that better decision-making practices could have obviated the need for a military operation entirely.
The state comptroller report debated by the committee in 2017 was centered around the management of the security cabinet by Netanyahu and then-defense minister Moshe Ya’alon, specifically the cabinet’s alleged failure to set concrete, strategic goals for the military in the campaign. It also noted intelligence gaps and tactical mistakes by the Israel Defense Forces, then led by Lt. Gen. (res.) Benny Gantz, notably its unpreparedness for the threat of Hamas tunnels.

US Navy Destroyer and Fighters Engage 17 Houthi Missiles and Drones
By streiff | 9:22 PM on December 26, 2023
A US Navy destroyer and several F/A-18 Super Hornet fighters shot down a total of 17 Houthi drones and missiles during a tense 10-hour engagement over the southern Red Sea.
Details of the engagement are sparse, but the Arleigh Burke-class Aegis destroyer USS Laboon (DDG-58), a member of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group (CSG), as well as several F/A-18 launched from the Eisenhower shot down 12 attack drones, three-antiship missiles and two land attack missiles. The engagement began at 6:30 a.m. local time Tuesday and continued for 10 hours. None of the attacking weapons hit a target.
This is the general location of the engagement. The USS Laboon is the blue dot to the left of the USNS Supply icon...next to the two Iranian ships.

For Mr. Security, a bit of war was a political asset ---- perhaps his greatest. Mowing the grass in Gaza while authorizing and facilitating transfers of US dollars in payments estimated in the billions from Qatar to Hamas was a recipe for disaster from the start.
Netanyahu knew about the tunnels, his governments, his security agencies knew and he was forced to admit they knew when the tunnels became common knowledge during the war in 2014. Not only didn't Netanyahu destroy them then, he didn't attempt to stop their expansion in the years since.
Neither did Netanyahu question where the money from Qatar was going.
Netanyahu ignored warnings of an imminent and massive attack from the IDF, as well as from Egypt. Just days before the Oct 7 attack two IDF commando companies were diverted from the Gaza region to the West Bank to help with unrest there ---- leaving Israelis in the South unprotected for 20 hours. FWIW, the settlers in the West Bank are part of the political glue holding Netanyahu's tenuous government together.
Yet, by his own admission, Netanyahu knew an attack of this scale was coming since 2017.

Exclusive: Caroline Glick Warns Israel Perilously Dependent on U.S. Munitions, Biden’s 2-State Plan Would ‘Annihilate’ Israel
Israel has become dangerously dependent on American munitions, according to conservative Middle East analyst and commentator Caroline Glick, who is calling for Israeli self-sufficiency, while slamming the Biden administration’s push for a “hideously anti-Israel” two-state solution policy, declaring it a “plan to annihilate Israel, piece by piece.”
Speaking with Breitbart News on Wednesday, Glick lamented Israel’s current state of reliance on America in terms of military production capacity.
“Right now, we’re pretty much dependent on the United States,” she said. “We have some independent production capabilities, but it’s far from sufficient for our needs during war.”
Glick addressed former President Barack Obama’s $38 billion 10-year aid package to Israel, which includes strict terms and limitations, while mandating all funds be spent on U.S. suppliers by the end of the deal.
“Israel managed to put itself into a position in recent years, clearly since the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) went into force, which essentially and deliberately required her to spend about 95% of the U.S. military assistance in the United States,” she said.

Guardian Updates

10.00 EST
Summary of the day so far …
It is 5pm in Gaza City and in Tel Aviv. Here are the latest headlines …
Egypt said on Thursday that it had put forward a framework proposal to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip that includes three stages ending with a ceasefire, and said it was awaiting responses on the plan. Egyptian security sources had previously said the proposal included a multi-stage ceasefire involving prisoner releases by Israel and Hamas.
The main focus of fighting is now in central areas, where Israeli forces have ordered civilians out over the past several days as their tanks advance. Tens of thousands of people fleeing the huge Nusseirat, Bureij and Maghazi districts were heading south or west on Thursday into the already overwhelmed city of Deir al-Balah along the Mediterranean coast, crowding into hastily built camps of makeshift tents. Israel’s military campaign and its repeated orders for civilians to evacuate to the south of the Gaza Strip have led to the displacement of 85% of the Palestinian population.
A total of 21,320 Palestinians have been killed and 55,603 injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza since 7 October, the Gaza health ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra said on Thursday. Qidra said 210 Palestinians had been killed in the past 24 hours. The health ministry in Gaza is run by Hamas.
The UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) has said 40% of Gaza’s population was now at risk of famine. The agency said it was distributing flour to families in southern Gaza but there was “simply not enough food”. The schools that it has converted into shelters are four times over capacity.
A UN report published on Thursday deplored what it said was a “rapid deterioration” of human rights in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and urged Israeli authorities to end violence against the Palestinian population there. The office of the UN high commissioner for human rights (OHCHR) said it had recorded mass arbitrary detentions, unlawful detentions, and cases of reported torture and other forms of ill-treatment of Palestinian detainees. It said about 4,785 Palestinians had been detained and 300 killed in the occupied West Bank since 7 October.
One Palestinian has been killed and at least 15 injured in overnight raids by the Israeli military targeting money exchange shops in cities in the occupied West Bank. Israel’s national security minister published an image that he claimed showed items confiscated by Israel. In his message, Itamar Ben-Gvir claimed that “tens of millions of shekels, safes, documents, recording systems and telephones that were intended to finance Hamas terrorism were confiscated”.
The number of Israeli service personnel injured during the war against Hamas has now reached roughly 3,000. That figure includes nearly 900 soldiers wounded since Israel began its ground offensive inside Gaza in late October. More than 160 soldiers have been killed since the ground operation began. It has not been possible for journalists to independently verify the casualty figures being issued during the conflict.
A drone has crashed near a village in the Israel-annexed Golan Heights, Israel’s army has said, after an Iraqi armed group with links to Hamas militants claimed responsibility for an attack in the area. Israeli media reported that a drone probably carrying explosives launched from Syria was shot down late Wednesday evening south of the settlement of Eliad, causing no injuries but some material damage. On Thursday Israel said it had shot down a drone that crossed into its territory from Lebanon.
Israel’s military chief, Herzi Halevi, has said his forces were “at a very high level of readiness” amid escalating Hezbollah attacks from Lebanon. The Israeli war cabinet minister, Benny Gantz, separately said the situation on the country’s northern border “demands change” and the time for diplomacy was running out.
Germany and its EU partners are examining whether they could mount a new maritime mission to protect commercial vessels under threat of attack in the Red Sea, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday. Yemen’s rebel Houthis have been targeting vessels using the Red Sea and Suez canal route in order, they say, to target shipping with links to Israel

An Israel Defense Forces strike that killed dozens of people in the Maghazi camp in the center of the Gaza Strip earlier this week was carried out using improper ordnance, a military official told the Kan public broadcaster on Thursday.
“The type of munition did not match the nature of the attack, causing extensive collateral damage that could have been avoided,” the official said.
The army said later Thursday that it “regretted the harm” to noncombatants in the incident, saying the strike had targeted Hamas operatives but caused unexpected harm to Gazans who were not involved.
According to Hamas-run health authorities in Gaza, 68 people were killed in the strike in the Maghazi camp, east of Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Strip, late Sunday. The toll cannot be verified and could include Hamas fighters. Associated Press journalists at a nearby hospital said they watched frantic Palestinians carry the dead, including a baby, and the wounded following the strike.
In response to the Kan report on Thursday, an IDF spokesperson said the air force attacked “several Hamas operatives” at two adjacent locations. It said “steps were taken” ahead of the attack to minimize the harm to noncombatants.” Its initial investigation showed that “additional buildings were struck… in a way that apparently led to the unexpected harming of noncombatants.” The IDF said the incident was being investigated further.

Human rights situation rapidly deteriorating in West Bank, U.N. agency says
Israel launched more raids Thursday inside the West Bank, where a new U.N. report finds that the human rights situation there has “deteriorated rapidly” since Oct. 7.
The Israel Defense Forces said that authorities launched operations in the West Bank against people suspected of financing Hamas, arresting 21 people and confiscating money and documents. The IDF also said it attacked a group of militants in Jenin who “fired at our forces.” The Palestinian Monetary Authority condemned the raids, saying in a statement that they undermined the Palestinian banking sector and violated international law.
Official Palestinian news agency Wafa said that one person was killed and 14 others injured in confrontations with Israeli forces in the center of Ramallah, the de facto capital of the occupied territory. The day before, Palestinian health authorities said six people were shot dead in Tulkarm.
The escalation in violence since Oct. 7 brings the total number of those killed in the West Bank to at least 300, including 79 children, according to a report published by the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on Wednesday.
In that period, Israeli forces killed at least 292 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, it found; Israeli settlers killed eight people, while a further two were killed either by forces or settlers. Three Israeli service members and one civilian have been killed in the West Bank since Oct. 7, it added. The report said that violence in the West Bank was at its highest levels since the United Nations began keeping records in 2005.
At a news conference Thursday, Tal Heinrich, a spokeswoman for the Israeli prime minister’s office, said the report “belittles the major security threats to Israelis” and said Israeli operations in the West Bank were targeting militants intent on destroying Israel.
"Our forces are operating in [the West Bank] to keep that front as quiet as possible despite the many challenges that we have there,” she said.
UN report calls on Israel to ‘end unlawful killings’ in West Bank
The Hill, Dec 28, 2023
A United Nations report published Thursday details the “rapidly deteriorating human rights situation” in the West Bank and called on Israel to end the “unlawful killings” against Palestinians.
The report, published by the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), called for an “immediate end to the use of military weapons and means during law enforcement operations” and an end to the “arbitrary detention and ill-treatment of Palestinians.”
The report found that from Oct. 7 — when Hamas invaded Israel in a surprise attack — until Wednesday, there were 291 Palestinian deaths in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, by the Israel security forces. A majority of the deaths were men, but at least 79 children have been killed in the West Bank.
At least 105 deaths were recorded during Israeli law enforcement operations using airstrikes or other military tactics, and 201 were recorded during law enforcement operations or confrontations not involving an exchange of fire, the report said.
There were nearly 5,000 arrests that were “regularly accompanied” by physical, psychological and sexual abuse.
According to The Associated Press, more than 500,00 Israelis live in settlements built in the occupied West Bank. The U.N. report found settlers “took advantage of the permissive environment” after Oct. 7 “to accelerate displacement” and violence against Palestinian communities and expand Israeli control.

Report: Biden Pushes Netanyahu to Give Palestinians Money, Mid-war
President Joe Biden is reportedly putting pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to transfer tax money to the Palestinian Authority (PA) that Israel collects on its behalf, but which it has suspended since the terror attacks of October 7.

According to the officials, Biden asked Netanyahu to accept a proposal that the Israeli prime minister raised himself several weeks ago: to transfer the withheld tax revenues to Norway for safekeeping until an arrangement can be found that will assuage Israel's concerns that the funds could reach Hamas.
A U.S. official said Netanyahu backtracked and said he doesn't think this is a good idea anymore. He told Biden he doesn't trust the Norwegians,

The only surprise is Netanyahu and his security forces have looked the other way since 2009.
About 30 tunnels were destroyed during the 2014 conflict. At the time, Israeli officials said Hamas had built more than 1,300 tunnels since 2007 at a cost of $1.25 billion, diverting funds that could have been spent on public infrastructure in Gaza.

Now we learn from "unnamed sources" that the two had a call last Saturday in which Biden was basically trying to tell Netanyahu what to do, and when he wasn't going for it, Biden hung up on him. Israel seeks full control of Gaza-Egypt border, Netanyahu says
Reuters, Dec 30, 2023
CAIRO/GAZA/JERUSALEM, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Israel must take full control of the Gaza Strip border corridor with Egypt to ensure a "demilitarisation" of the area, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday, as Israel's military pushed deeper into central and southern Gaza.
Speaking at a press conference, Netanyahu said: "The Philadelphi Corridor - or to put it more correctly, the southern closing point (of Gaza) - must be in our hands. It must be shut. It is clear that any other arrangement would not ensure the demilitarisation that we seek."
He did not elaborate. If accomplished, such a move would mark a de facto reversal of Israel's 2005 withdrawal from Gaza, placing the enclave under exclusive Israeli control after years being run by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Netanyahu's comments about the buffer zone came as Israeli military forces pressed ahead with an offensive that the prime minister reiterated will last "for many more months."

Netanyahu warns Iran, Hezbollah of 'blows it never dreamed of'
Jerusalem Post Updates, Dec 30, 2023
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Iran and Hezbollah and confirmed that the Gaza war could continue for months, amid a push to bring to fruition a Qatari proposal to secure the release of additional hostages.
“On the northern border - we are landing heavy blows against Hezbollah, eliminating many terrorists and destroying the enemy's capabilities,” Netanyahu said in a press conference in Tel Aviv on Saturday night.
“We approved operational plans for the continuation of the fighting. If Hezbollah expands the war - it will receive blows it never dreamed of, and so will Iran. We will act in any way until we restore security to the residents of the north,” Netanyahu stated.
“Iran leads the axis of evil and aggression against us on the various fronts,” Netanyahu stated.

Ruling out resigning, PM says he’s made Israel stronger; is cautious on hostage deal
Times of Israel, Dec 30, 2023
Primer Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday said he has no plans to resign and indicated he intends to remain in power once the war is over, to ensure Gaza is demilitarized and no new terror threat can emerge from there following Hamas’s October 7 massacres in southern Israel.
Asked about his plans for the day after the war in the face of calls for him to resign, Netanyahu replied: “The only thing I’m going to resign from is Hamas.”
"In the years I’ve led the State of Israel, it got much stronger,” he asserted, despite the country having sustained the worst one-day losses in its history on October 7, with most of the 1,200 victims of the Hamas slaughter being civilians. He cited the fact that “we can manage a multi-front campaign” that will soon have lasted 90 days, with a “wonderful army,” a strong economy and “international backing.”
"To achieve absolute victory, to fulfill all our goals, more time is needed. We act all the time with determination and strength, and I would like to emphasize — we do this while protecting the lives of our fighters as much as possible,” he said, adding that Israel was now “deepening the fight against Hamas.”
He stressed that he was also committed to restoring security along the border with Lebanon in the north amid escalating Hezbollah attacks, so the residents who were evacuated from there can return home.
Some critics of Netanyahu linked the failure to stop the shock incursion to the prime minister’s policy of passing along funds from Qatari to appease Hamas and the now-debunked concept that the terror group had been deterred by previous rounds of fighting.
According to a Channel 13 news survey published earlier this month, 70 percent of Israelis believe Netanyahu should resign as prime minister.
During Saturday’s press conference, Netanyahu also stressed his government’s actions in the West Bank, declaring that under his leadership “we work around the clock: arresting terrorists, eliminating terrorists, thwarting many terrorist attacks.”

Summary of the day...
This is Richard Luscombe in the US, handing over our blog coverage to colleagues in Australia. Thanks for joining me.
It’s 1am on Wednesday in Gaza City, Jerusalem and Beirut. Here are the main developments we’ve been following in the Israel-Hamas war:
Senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri was killed in an explosion in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh, reportedly caused by a targeted Israeli drone strike. Israel has not accepted responsibility, but says “whoever did this… [it was] a surgical strike against the Hamas leadership”.
Six people were killed in the explosion, reports say, including al-Arouri, a founder of Hamas’s military wing long targeted by Israel, and two leaders of Hamas’s elite military al-Qassam Brigades. Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati, condemned a “new Israeli crime” and said the country was filing a complaint to the United Nations security council.
Israel’s military forces are in a state of “high readiness” following the assassination, a senior spokesman without acknowledging his country’s involvement in the incident. Rear Adm Daniel Hagari told reporters “We are focused and remain focused on fighting against Hamas. We are on high readiness for any scenario”.
Hezbollah said its finger “is on the trigger” as it promised vengeance for Arouri’s death, and later claimed it had launched a so-far unconfirmed missile attack on Israeli troops. The group said the attack in Beirut was “a serious assault on Lebanon… that will not go without a response or punishment” in a statement posted to Telegram.
Hamas said it won’t release any more hostages it took during the 7 October attacks on Israel, except under its own terms. The group’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, told Reuters he laid out the Hamas position to officials of Egypt and Qatar, countries trying to broker a ceasefire similar to the one in November that saw more than 100 hostages freed. Haniyeh is demanding “a complete cessation of the aggression” by Israel.
Turkey arrested 34 people on suspicion of spying for Mossad on behalf of Israel. “The Israeli intelligence service is recruiting personnel to be used in acts against Palestinians residing in our country and their families.,” a government official said. Without providing evidence, the official said the suspects were also spreading fake news and disinformation, carrying out robberies and blackmail for Israeli intelligence.
Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant said military operations in the south of the Gaza Strip around Khan Younis were focused on areas above what he said was a tunnel network where Hamas leaders were believed to be hiding. “We are reaching them all ways. There already is engagement and there are hostages there too sadly,” he told Israeli troops in footage shown on Israeli television, Reuters said.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported “several fatalities and wounded” at its headquarters in Khan Younis as a result of Israeli missile. “The occupation renews its bombardment of the PRCS headquarters in Khan Younis for the second time, resulting in several fatalities and wounded among the 14,000 displaced individuals housed in the PRCS’s premises and the adjacent Al-Amal hospital,” the group said in a statement.
At least 22,185 Palestinians have been killed and more than 57,000 wounded by Israel’s military action in Gaza, according to updated figures from the health ministry. It says that 207 Palestinians were killed and 338 were wounded in the past 24 hours. The Gaza health ministry is run by Hamas. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
Separately, the Israeli military has claimed to have killed about 8,000 fighters in the Gaza Strip during its campaign. Additionally, since 7 October, at least 321 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank by Israeli troops or settlers. It has not been possible for journalists to independently verify the casualty figures being issued during the conflict.
Israel Defense Forces have killed four alleged Palestinian militants during a raid in the occupied West Bank town of Azzun, the IDF has said. In addition it said it had arrested seven others. More than 2,550 people have been arrested in the occupied territory since the Israel-Hamas war began.
Israel will defend its actions in Gaza at the international court of justice in The Hague after South Africa launched a case against the state accusing it of genocide last week, Israeli media has reported. “Israel, a longstanding signatory to the Genocide Convention, will not boycott the proceedings. We will participate and refute the absurd accusation that amounts to blood libel,” national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told the news site Ynet.
The first UK maritime shipment of aid for Gaza has arrived in Egypt, carrying almost 90 tonnes of thermal blankets and other essential items. The shipment was delivered from Cyprus by royal fleet auxiliary ship Lyme Bay, and the aid will be distributed within the Gaza Strip by UNRWA.

French president calls on Israel to avoid escalation
French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Israel to avoid escalation, “particularly in Lebanon”, after a strike in Beirut that killed Hamas’s deputy leader, the Élysée Palace said on Tuesday.
Israel has so far not admitted or denied responsibility for the attack. Government adviser Mark Regev has told MSNBC that “whoever did this … [it was] a surgical strike against the Hamas leadership”.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) is reporting that Macron spoke by telephone with Israeli minister and war cabinet member Benny Gantz. The presidency said:
"It was essential to avoid any escalatory attitude, particularly in Lebanon, and that France would continue to pass on these messages to all players directly or indirectly involved in the area."
Hamas number two Saleh al-Aruri was killed in a strike in a suburb of Beirut on Tuesday evening, the Palestinian militant group and Lebanese security officials said.

The United States has reached a deal to extend its military presence at a base in Qatar for another 10 years, a source familiar with the matter told the Reuters news agency on Tuesday.
It’s believed to be the Al Udeid airbase, which is located in the desert southwest of Doha and hosts the largest US military facility in the Middle East, the source said, asking Reuters not to be identified. The development was reported first by CNN.
The US Department of Defense did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday. The tiny Gulf state has played a key role in mediation talks with Hamas and Israeli officials in relation to the war in Gaza.
US President Joe Biden has regularly spoken with the emir of Qatar since the 7 October attacks on securing the release of hostages held by Hamas and on boosting aid to Gaza.
There has also been criticism of Qatar by some in the US Congress over Hamas’ presence in the country.
Bernie Sanders calls on Congress to block funding to Israel
Jan 2, 2023
Bernie Sanders, the progressive senator of Vermont, issued a statement Tuesday calling on Congress to block additional funding to Israel amid the war in Gaza, where more than 22,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks after Hamas killed 1,200 people in Israel on 7 October.
“While we recognize that Hamas’ barbaric terrorist attack began this war, we must also recognize that Israel’s military response has been grossly disproportionate, immoral and in violation of international law,” Sanders said.
“Enough is enough. Congress must reject that funding. The taxpayers of the United States must no longer be complicit in destroying the lives of innocent men, women, and children in Gaza.”
Sanders’ statement came as Congress considers Joe Biden’s request for $10bn in aid to Israel as part of a larger funding package meant to assist US allies, including Ukraine, and address border security. Last month, Sanders notably opposed a $111bn funding proposal backed by Democrats because of his concerns about the money for Israel included in the bill.
“Israel has the absolute right to defend itself against the Hamas terrorists who attacked them on October 7,” Sanders said in a statement explaining his vote. “They do not have the legal or moral right to kill thousands of innocent men, women, and children in Gaza".

Far-right ministers call to ‘resettle’ Gaza’s Palestinians, build settlements in Strip
Times of Israel, Jan 1, 2023
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s two senior far-right partners endorsed the rebuilding of settlements in the Gaza Strip and the encouraging of “voluntary emigration” of Palestinians on Monday, while hawkish opposition MK Avigdor Liberman called for Israel to reoccupy southern Lebanon.
Speaking during their parties’ respective faction meetings in the Knesset, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich presented the migration of Palestinian civilians as a solution to the long-running conflict and as a prerequisite for securing the stability necessary to allow residents of southern Israel to return to their homes.
The war presents an “opportunity to concentrate on encouraging the migration of the residents of Gaza,” Ben Gvir told reporters and members of his far-right Otzma Yehudit party, calling such a policy “a correct, just, moral and humane solution.”
“We cannot withdraw from any territory we are in in the Gaza Strip. Not only do I not rule out Jewish settlement there, I believe it is also an important thing,” he said.
The “correct solution” to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict is “to encourage the voluntary migration of Gaza’s residents to countries that will agree to take in the refugees,” Smotrich told members of his Religious Zionism party, predicting that “Israel will permanently control the territory of the Gaza Strip,” including through the establishment of settlements.
The idea of population transfer, once considered a fringe view held by members of the ultranationalist Kahane movement, was given renewed prominence in mainstream Israeli political discourse this November when MKs Danny Danon (Likud) and Ram Ben-Barak (Yesh Atid) published an op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal, calling for “countries around the world to accept limited numbers of Gazan families who have expressed a desire to relocate.”
***********************************
Separately on Monday, Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Liberman called for Israel to reoccupy southern Lebanon, saying the country must “pay in territory” for damage caused by Hezbollah strikes on Israel’s northern towns.
The former defense minister, a member of the opposition, said Israel’s military must “close off” a swath of southern Lebanon and push the terror group north of the Litani River, even if it means occupying the area for 50 years
“We will not annex anything, and we will not build settlements, but we will release the territory only when there is a government in Beirut that knows how to exercise its sovereignty,” he said.
“Everything between the Litani and Israel must be under the control of the IDF,” added Liberman, likening it to the post-World War II military occupation of Germany. “If Lebanon won’t pay in territory, we haven’t done anything,” he said.

Macron is likely trying to placate his own Muslim immigrant population, unwisely let in, and now a problem right there in France. Likely, if he advocated the elimination of Hamas, relentlessly and without mercy, he would be tied up with uprisings and terror events at home. If he succeeds in placating them, all he has done is delayed what will occur anyway without some serious changes in policy.

Smotrich doubles down on resettlement of Gazans, rejecting US criticism
Times of Israel, Jan 3, 2024
Rejecting the US State Department’s condemnation of calls for the resettlement of Palestinians outside of Gaza, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Wednesday reiterated his support for encouraging “voluntary emigration” of the Strip’s population to other countries as part of his postwar vision.
The leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party claimed in a statement that “more than 70 percent of the Israeli public today supports” encouraging emigration as “a humanitarian solution,” but did not provide a source for this statistic.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, another senior far-right coalition partner of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, hit back at Washington shortly after it aired its criticism Tuesday.
“The United States is our best friend, but first of all we will do what is best for the State of Israel: the migration of hundreds of thousands from Gaza will allow the residents of the [Gaza] envelope to return home and live in security and will protect the IDF soldiers,” Ben Gvir posted on X. “I really admire the United States of America but with all due respect, we are not another star in the American flag.”
While he has issued statements insisting they do not represent government policy, Netanyahu himself gave the go-ahead for government members to support the plan to encourage Palestinians to leave the enclave.
Last Monday, he told a Likud faction meeting that he is working to facilitate the voluntary migration of Gazans to other countries. “Our problem is [finding] countries that are willing to absorb Gazans, and we are working on it,” he said.
The prime minister was responding to Likud MK Danny Danon, who claimed that “the world is already discussing the possibilities of voluntary immigration,” though the idea has been roundly rejected by the international community.
The war presents an “opportunity to concentrate on encouraging the migration of the residents of Gaza,” Ben Gvir told reporters and members of his far-right Otzma Yehudit party, calling such a policy “a correct, just, moral and humane solution.”

Ethnic cleansing: Rendering an area ethnically homogeneous by using force or intimidation to remove from a given area persons of another ethnic or religious group, which is contrary to international law.

U.K. joins condemnation of far-right Israeli ministers' calls for displacement of Palestinians from Gaza
A senior British minister has joined condemnation of calls by far-right Israeli ministers for the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The United States, Germany and France have all taken issue with comments by extremist members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.
"Gaza is occupied Palestinian Territory and will be part of the future Palestinian state. No Palestinian should be threatened with forcible displacement or relocation. Alongside our international partners, we deplore inflammatory remarks by Israeli Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir.

No. It gets rid of Hamas.
What percentage of seed stock of Hamas would you preserve and turn loose to regrow the organization?
Terrorist behaviour does not constitute an ethnicity.
Israeli resettlement would take care of this @Smokin Joe And, this, too, is part of the relocation proposal. Take a peek at the West Bank.
Enough with the lies already. Israel isn't forcing Palestinians off their land.
Repeating a lie does not make it true. Especially a 75-year-old lie.
Enough with your fantasies. Israel is forcing Palestinians off their land. And the battles are escalating, which is why the Netanyahu regime moved two commando companies from the Gaza border to the West Bank just days before the Oct 7 attack.

🛑ISIS spokesperson calls on Muslims to kill Jews in Israel and around the world. The statement was part of a 30-minute address, most of which was devoted to the Gaza war
How is this silly talking point still relevant or helpful when the world, including Israel, acknowledges the Palestinian people @Bigun ?
@DCPatriot
So you agree with RiV that Israel is guilty of Ethnic Cleansing?
Times of Israel
Jan 3, 2024
The “voluntary” resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza is slowly becoming a key official policy of the government, with a senior official saying that Israel has held talks with several countries for their potential absorption.
Zman Israel, The Times of Israel’s Hebrew sister site, has learned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition is conducting secret contacts for accepting thousands of immigrants from Gaza with Congo, in addition to other nations.
“Congo will be willing to take in migrants, and we’re in talks with others,” a senior source in the security cabinet said.
Last Monday, Netanyahu told a Likud faction meeting that he is working to facilitate the voluntary migration of Gazans to other countries.

What you call a "silly talking point" I call a fact @Right_in_Virginia
Hopefully, we can agree to disagree on this. happy77 @Bigun
Wishing you and yours a healthy, happy 2024.
Right_in_Virginia,Was it ethnic cleansing when the USA during WWII fire bombed a dozen cities in Japan, killing 100,000 in one day in Tokyo? Hell no! It was f***ing war.
To be clear, I have not claimed Israel is guilty of ethnic cleansing. I am warning Israel to stop and think ---- to fight the emotions of this moment and not follow in the wrong footsteps.
Can't we just agree that everyone in the Middle East want to kill each other?
The "Palestinians" in Gaza already have been involuntarly re-located from their families' original homes elsewhere in territory now controlled by Israel.
The Israeli conservative discussion about "voluntary relocation" sounds like duplicitous branding for Ethnic Cleansing.
(Radical) Zionsism and "a two state solution" are incompatible.
(Radical) Zionism would require the removal of Arabs, and maybe other non-Jews, from all of Palestine; or, the implementation of an Apartheid System that makes non-Jews 2nd class ciitizens, or non-citizens, of Israel.
(Radical) Zionism is an exclusionary ethno-religious doctrine that reserves Palestine exlusively for a Jewish state/homeland.
Arabs cannot be equal within an Israeli state because, demographically, the Arab population of Israel would grow to exceed the Jewish population. (Radical) Zionism does not allow room for an Arab/Mulsim majority Israeli state in Palestine.
So, (radical) Zionism and a 2-state Palestinian solution are incompatible. Radical Zionists want to clear Gaza and the West Bank of Arab/Muslim residents/occupants/settlers. Radical Zionist settlers are using an asymteric strategy to gradually ethnicly cleanse the West Bank by re-occupying territory.
All sides will continue to kill each other to fulfill prophecies / promises / vandettas of the past. It's been that way since the Old Testament.
A workable solution will only emerge when all sides are sick and tired of the killing and the mourning.
The only corollary I can think of is Northern Ireland. Ireland had to remove re-uniifcation of Ulster with the Republic from its Constitution; and the British and Protestants provide (more) equal civil rights to Catholics.
Good luck with all of this, especially now that ISIS is launching terrorist attacks against Iran.

16 But of the cities of these people, which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee:
18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the Lord your God.
Right_in_Virginia,The complete destruction of an enemy has become taboo with the idiocy that is pervasive, which you obviously embrace.
Just to be clear, and I ask because you post this pointing-up opinion frequently ----- are you saying "Never again!" unless the the attempted extermination is from Israel?
@jafo2010If history is correct, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were on the A-bomb list because they were among a very few cities in Japan that hadn't been fire-bombed into ashes. Parts of Germany did not fare much better. Tokyo was so burned out from incendiaries that not only would it have been a waste to nuke it, there would have been no one left to surrender. The objective was to hamper weapons and materiel production and demoralize the population. The Nazis started it with raids on London and Coventry, the Japanese with their rapacious conquest of China and Manchuria, and acts committed by both were far beyond what Israel is doing in Gaza.
It was two bombings in a long, hot war --- a war we finally ended with those bombs.
If history is correct, we did not return when the smoke cleared and sweep the remaining Japanese from their homes and lives for the real estate. In fact, we allowed the Emperor to remain a unity figurehead for the Japanese people --- helping to pave the way for the alliance with Japan we have to this day.
You're aware there is quite a bit of scholarly debate on this --- especially the linear aspects of your claim, are you not?
Just to be clear, and I ask because you post variations of this pointing-up opinion frequently ----- are you saying "Never again!" unless the the attempted extermination is from Israel?
@Hoodat, @DCPatriot
Ethnic cleansing is not new.
The modern world has witnessed it in Eastern Europe, including Serbia, for decades. In Nazi Germany the proposal before the final solution was the Madagascar Plan.
To be clear, I have not claimed Israel is guilty of ethnic cleansing.
Ethnic cleansing is *always* presented as "voluntary". Withholding movement, safety, housing, water, medical supplies, electricity, food and employment are the provable and reliable ways of rendering "voluntary" a political sham.
I am warning Israel to stop and think ---- to fight the emotions of this moment and not follow in the wrong footsteps.
If Israel moves forward with the plans below, the charge of ethnic cleansing will gain global credibility at precisely the time they need the support of the global community.
The complete destruction of an enemy has become taboo with the idiocy that is pervasive, which you obviously embrace.
What we are forcing Israel to do is very self destructive, and will leave the enemy stronger for the NEXT TIME they decide to kill large numbers of Jews.
So tell me RIV, how many Jews would need to be murdered for you to justify the complete vanquishing of an evil culture? Give me a number?

Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthies, etc, are puppets; Russia, Iran, and China are the puppet masters pulling the strings.
We are in the midst of Cold War v2.0, and the West is losing and on the defensive.

Can the civilians who harbored Hamas be any more innocent than the Nazis who looked the other way when millions were rounded up and sent to the death camps?
But, this is not WWII @Smokin Joe This is a 56 year old regional conflict over a sliver of territory the size of Newark ---- in a part of the world renowned for centuries-old layers of blood grudges on all sides. Please fight the urge to conflate this with WWII. Please also fight the urge to trigger WWIII over it.Well, that was unconvincing.
Your question is as incendiary as you asking if Israeli civilians bear responsibility for the condition of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and its contribution to war after war after war. And, as unhelpful.
Have a nice day.
Well, that was unconvincing.
IF we cannot learn from the parallels in this millennia old conflict with other conflicts, then we cannot apply history to learn a damned thing.
But then, the one lesson History gives us is that people consistently DO NOT learn from History.
Have a nice day.
That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history.

Hamas command in north Gaza destroyed, Israel says
The Israeli army says it has "completed the dismantling" of Hamas's command structure in the northern Gaza Strip.
Army spokesman Daniel Hagari told reporters that Palestinian militants are now operating in the area only sporadically and "without commanders".
He said Israel had killed around 8,000 militants in north Gaza. The BBC cannot independently verify this number.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) are now focused on dismantling Hamas in south and central Gaza, he said.
Israel has killed more than 22,000 people since the war began, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. On Saturday it said it had recorded more than 120 deaths over the past 24 hours.
The territory has been devastated and most of the population of 2.3 million has been displaced.
Israel's offensive started after Hamas gunmen launched a surprise attack on southern Israel on 7 October, killing 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and taking about 240 people hostage.
More than 120 remain, following agreed releases.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated on Saturday that Israel would continue its campaign to "eliminate Hamas, return our hostages and ensure that Gaza will no longer be a threat to Israel"..............

IDF brass said to warn political leaders that West Bank on brink of violent eruption
Times of Israel, Jan 9, 2024
Security chiefs have warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu several times in recent days that the West Bank is on the brink of a major eruption in violence, Israeli television reported Monday.
According to Channel 12 news, the warnings were relayed by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and other senior military commanders, who said Israel risked a new front in the West Bank amid the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and ongoing clashes on the northern border with the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah.
Besides Netanyahu, the report said the other members of the war cabinet — Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister Benny Gantz — were also warned of the prospect of major unrest in the West Bank.
The heightened concern comes on the heels of Israel’s withholding of hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenues that belong to the PA in addition to refusing to allow some 150,000 Palestinian workers return to their jobs in Israel and the settlements, the report said, noting Netanyahu’s refusal to hold security cabinet votes to reverse both decisions, given pressure from his far-right coalition partners.
The network added that the military’s assessment was shared by the Shin Bet security service.
"Ask Zelensky for money,” bin Zayed reportedly told Netanyahu, sarcastically suggesting that the Ukrainian president could foot the bill with all of the international support Kyiv has been getting since Russia’s invasion
"The notion that Arab countries will come in to rebuild and pay the bill for what’s currently happening is wishful thinking,” an Emirati official told Axios.
MBZ couldn’t believe Netanyahu thought the UAE would be willing to pay for a problem that was created due to Israel’s decision not to allow the workers in, a source familiar with the matter told the news site.

Houthi Attack on International Shipping
On Jan. 9, at approximately 9:15 p.m. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthis launched a complex attack of Iranian designed one-way attack UAVs (OWA UAVs), anti-ship cruise missiles, and an anti-ship ballistic missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen into the Southern Red Sea, towards international shipping lanes where dozens of merchant vessels were transiting.
Eighteen OWA UAVs, two anti-ship cruise missiles, and one anti-ship ballistic missile were shot down by a combined effort of F/A-18s from USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), USS Gravely (DDG 107), USS Laboon (DDG 58), USS Mason (DDG 87), and the United Kingdom’s HMS Diamond (D34). This is the 26th Houthi attack on commercial shipping lanes in the Red Sea since Nov. 19. There were no injuries or damage reported.
On Jan. 3, 14 countries, including the U.S, issued a joint statement stating, "The Houthis will bear the responsibility for the consequences should they continue to threaten lives, the global economy, or the free flow of commerce in the region's critical waterways."

This 56 year old conflict has always been about taking the land without the Palestinians who would threaten the Jewish majority in Israel.
Hence, the decades long Israeli control, occupation, settlements, wars and refusal of a two state peace treaty.
It's always been about securing Palestinian free land.
Yet here you are posting lies. Again.

So what are the alternatives? Allow Israel to be exterminated? Sorry, not sorry, the vermin that are the pali's go. I simply cannot see where equivocating on this topic is any kind of debate. The vermin that are the palis have plainly and clearly made their goals/intentions known. They are not "peaceable" beings. No question, no discussion, no debate needed. A done deal, wipe them out. Hence, the decades long Israeli control, occupation, settlements, wars and refusal of a two state peace treaty.
Simply no idea of what you are talking about. The two state solution emerged from the Balfour Declaration of 1917. From DAY ONE, Israel fully supported the agreement proposed, and from DAY ONE, the Palestinians said their only goal was the elimination of Israel and the death of every Jew. The Palestinians have NOT moved from this position in all the years since.
The fact that Israel has greatly tempered their response to each war STARTED by muslim states, and endless and repeated attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah, etc and all the other lesser known terrorist groups hellbent on genocide for all Jews has come to a point of absurdity.
If Netanyahu is not going to destroy Gaza, and leave it in ruins on such that it is never to be inhabited until such time the people of Gaza surrender and disarm, then I say leave it in ruins for a century. Enough is enough.
What would be the USA response if a cartel came across the Mexican border and killed 1,400 Americans in their homes, men, women, and children. Raped and mutilated whoever they chose. You think the USA would have a tempered response? Fat chance. And the occupation that would result would not end any time soon either!!!
Not matter what Israel does in Gaza, the majority of the world would never approve, so get it done. Eliminate the enemy, and either they surrender or they die. PERIOD!!!

Does anyone truly believe that Hamas will release these hostages if Israel pulls out of Gaza? Not any rational, thinking human being, no.
So according to the @DCPatriot defend-RiV-at-all-costs standard, posting false left-wing propaganda is OK, but pointing out where a left-winger openly acknowledges the source as a left-wing propagandist is somehow an egregious crime. How's that working for you?

As Israel fights a war against the terrorist group Hamas, the Biden administration has funded $100,000 for 200 adolescent Palestinian girls and young women to participate in weekly running and wellness sessions.
Federal funding records show that the U.S. Department of State awarded the funding in September for a roughly two-year initiative to Free to Run, a Connecticut-based nonprofit seeking “to increase the opportunities for women and girls to engage in public life, using sport as a tool of empowerment and education,” the Washington Examiner reported.
According to federal records, the program is being administered in the West Bank. ...

US intelligence reportedly fears Hezbollah could attack America: ‘It is something to be worried about’

US intelligence officials reportedly fear Hezbollah could launch an attack in America as tensions spill over from the terrorist group’s assault on Israel.
The Lebanese group will likely first target American military or diplomatic personnel in the Middle East — but could also have sights on American soil, four unidentified intelligence officials told Politico.
“Hezbollah could draw on the capability they have … to put people [in] places to do something,” warned one of the officials.
“It is something to be worried about.”
The four officials did not offer specifics on what type of attacks are feared. However, they warned that Hezbollah has an expansive international network — greater than those of either ISIS or al Qaeda.

Israel prepares for possibility that raped hostages could be impregnated by Hamas

Israeli physicians are preparing for the devastating possibility that some women being held hostage by Hamas may have been raped and impregnated by their captors.
Specialists and medical centers across Israel are holding internal discussions on how to approach the physical and emotional condition of female hostages who could be several weeks pregnant following the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas, the Hebrew publication Maariv reported
“I am uncertain how they will cope, but we must prepare now for this terrible theoretical possibility of a woman conceiving or raising such a child. Thus, we must stop this atrocity, not allow the captives to perish there, bring them back, and provide them with care,” Prof. Tal Biron-Shental, chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, told the outlet.
Depending on the circumstances of conception and the age of the mother, pregnant women in Israel can apply to terminate a pregnancy up until the moment of birth, according to the Ministry of Health.
While early-stage abortions involve expelling the pregnancy using oral medications, a later-term termination requires a higher-risk procedure to stop the fetus’ heart activity with a syringe, Maariv said.

As well he should. He never trusted Biden, hasn't for many years, if at all. I don't think Bebe trusts much of anyone.
Israel should presume that the hostages are already lost, and rain fire and brimstone down upon Gaza. Once that flank is more secure, they can go after Hezbollah and Iran with full gusto.I truly understand these families anguish over their loved ones but as you say they are probably already dead and the leadership needs to think about the safety of all the people of Israel, not just the hostages. I doubt I could be that rational though if it were my loved ones held by the scum.
Others reportedly had added that Hamas terrorists were also dressing female hostages as dolls in order to abuse them in sadistic ways. And they said that male hostages were also being sexually abused and raped. This is why the entirely of Gaza should be carpet bombed. No survivors.

Israeli hostages impregnated by Hamas rapists will decide whether to keep babies upon release

Any Israeli hostages who have gotten pregnant from being raped by their Hamas captors in Gaza will have to decide whether to keep their baby or terminate the pregnancy upon their release, according to a new report.
Officials with Israel’s Ministries of Welfare and Health are drawing up detailed plans to deal with the possibility of unwanted pregnancies in women who were kidnapped by terrorists after the deadly Oct. 7 attacks, reported the local news outlet Walla!.
In Israel, a pregnancy termination committee typically determines whether to grant an abortion request — but officials are considering bypassing that step to reduce the red tape in the cases of any pregnant former captives.
More than 130 Israelis still remain in the clutches of Hamas after nearly four months, including young women and teenage girls, with preliminary information suggesting that some have been subjected to sexual abuse, both during the initial onslaught — as seen in gruesome videos circulating online — and in captivity.
Civilian authorities, assisted by the Israel Defense Forces, are creating a program that will coordinate all available resources for treating sexually abused hostages — including women at different stages of pregnancy — who will receive medical and psychological help.

President Biden last week pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to scale down the Israeli military operation in Gaza, stressing he is not in it for a year of war, two U.S. officials told Axios.

A Biden adviser told Axios the White House is very concerned about losing young voters, many of whom are opposed to the president's policy on the Gaza war.

The Biden administration is considering slowing down or pausing weaponry sales to Israel in an attempt to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into scaling back the assault on Hamas in Gaza, according to a report.
The White House has directed the Pentagon to determine which of Israel's weapons requests could be used as leverage, NBC News reported Sunday, citing four current or former U.S. officials familiar with the discussions.
The proposed tactic reportedly comes after President Biden and members of his administration have repeatedly ask Israel to scale back its assault and reduce civilian casualties in Gaza, only to see the requests go largely unheeded.

The more precise the weapons, the fewer 'civilians' will be collateral damage in relation to the number of Hamas operatives. While that ratio is no doubt blurred by the number of Hamas operatives dressed as or presented as civilian deaths, that precision is a limiting factor."...and reduce civilian casualties in Gaza" "Facts not in evidence." No evidence produced to support this demented claim. So kindly EFF off! Israel needs to eradicate those vermin once and for all. So give them all the weaponry required to do so.
To deny the Israelis the most surgical means of elimination an existential threat only means the threat will be eliminated by less precise methods: the threat still must be eliminated.
For all ts posturing, limiting more precise munitions supplies to the Israelis will only force them to use less precise methods, which would not achieve the stated desired result of reducing 'civilian' casualties, but the exact opposite of the stated goal.
So long as they are in the crosshairs, Hamas will not release all the living hostages they have. Giving Hamas time to regroup and rearm is folly. Get the job done.

Note how it says a permanent end to "Israel’s counteroffensive", not a permanent end to 'the war'."Counteroffensive" alone implies that the Israeli action is a response to an "offensive".

Biden Warns Netanyahu in Phone Call Against Attack in Rafah Without Civilian Plan
President Joe Biden warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a 45-minute telephone call Sunday not to attack Hamas’s last stronghold in Rafah without a credible plan to evacuate the roughly one million Palestinian civilians there.
A White House readout of the call said:
President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. spoke this morning with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. The President reaffirmed our shared goal to see Hamas defeated and to ensure the long-term security of Israel and its people. The President and the Prime Minister discussed ongoing efforts to secure the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas. The President emphasized the need to capitalize on progress made in the negotiations to secure the release of all hostages as soon as possible. He also called for urgent and specific steps to increase the throughput and consistency of humanitarian assistance to innocent Palestinian civilians. And he reaffirmed his view that a military operation in Rafah should not proceed without a credible and executable plan for ensuring the safety of and support for the more than one million people sheltering there. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
Rafah is a town in Gaza on the Egyptian border. It is the one part of Gaza where the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not yet attacked Hamas. Hamas leaders are thought to be hiding there. The area is also important to cross-border smuggling.

LIEden should have known in early 2021 that Israel would notice that he was filling his malAdministration with Israel-Haters and be prepared to respond accordingly.
As the Israeli armed forces gear up to capture the last major terrorist stronghold of Rafah in southern Gaza with the aim of annihilating Hamas’ Gaza-based leadership and liberating the hostages, the Biden administration, European governments, and Arab regimes are exerting enormous pressure on Israel to halt the military operation.

Biden Admin Set to Reward Palestinians For October 7 Massacre With a State and East Jerusalem as CapitalIsrael owes all of these scum nothing...these bastards set Oct 7th in motion due to their complicity with hamas...smoke 'em all Israel, smoke 'em!

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Office: “Now is not the time to be speaking about gifts for the Palestinian people.”
The Biden administration is planning to reward the Palestinians for the October 7 massacre by enabling them to create a state with its capital in East Jerusalem, a report published by The Washington Post on Wednesday indicates.
Barely four months after Hamas terrorists slaughtered 1200 Israelis as they raped and pillaged their way through Jewish communities in southern Israel, the Biden White House has reportedly joined hands with Arab states and the European Union to clear the path for statehood for Palestinians — who overwhelmingly support Hamas and other terrorist groups.
Rep. Brian Mast
@RepBrianMast
The Biden Administration wants to create a Palestinian state, but REFUSES to say who would run it or whether they would be considered our ally.
Here's the obvious truth: Hamas is the popularly elected government, and as a result, a Palestinian state would be run by terrorists.
https://twitter.com/RepBrianMast/status/1758140401771307349 (https://twitter.com/RepBrianMast/status/1758140401771307349)
The roadmap for the establishment of a Palestinian state could be announced in the coming weeks, the article suggests. “The Biden administration and a small group of Middle East partners are rushing to complete a detailed, comprehensive plan for long-term peace between Israel and Palestinians, including a firm timeline for the establishment of a Palestinian state, that could be announced as early as the next several weeks,” the WaPo noted.
Under the proposed plan, President Joe Biden is likely to penalize Israelis while rewarding Palestinians. The deal being worked out by the White House would involve the “withdrawal of many, if not all, settler communities on the West Bank” as well as “a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem; the reconstruction of Gaza; and security and governance arrangements for a combined West Bank and Gaza,” the newspaper added.
The Washington Post reported:
The Biden administration and a small group of Middle East partners are rushing to complete a detailed, comprehensive plan for long-term peace between Israel and Palestinians, including a firm timeline for the establishment of a Palestinian state, that could be announced as early as the next several weeks.
The urgency of the effort is tied directly to a proposed pause in the fighting and release of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas that is being negotiated by the United States, Qatar and Egypt.
An initial cease-fire, projected to be at least six weeks, would provide time to make the plan public, recruit additional support and take the initial steps toward its implementation, including the formation of an interim Palestinian government, according to U.S. and Arab officials. Planners hope a hostage agreement can be reached before the beginning of Ramadan, the month of Muslim fasting that begins March 10, lest it compound the deprivation and pressure-cooker atmosphere in Gaza.
“The key is the hostage deal,” said one U.S. official among several American and Arab diplomats who discussed the subject on the condition of anonymity to avoid derailing the plan before it is completed.
But even as planning participants — including Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Palestinian representatives, in addition to the United States — work to reach agreement among themselves, there are new fears that a looming Israeli attack on Rafah will throw the Gaza crisis into overdrive and bury both the hostage deal and long-term peace efforts. Israel-Gaza war: Latest ceasefire talks not very promising - Qatar"I believe in this agreement we are talking at a bigger scale and we still see some difficulties on the humanitarian part of these negotiations," he added.
Talks to agree a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza were "not very promising" in recent days, mediator Qatar has said.
Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said he remained optimistic, but added "time is not in our favour".
It comes as Israel's prime minister said he would press ahead with plans for a Rafah ground invasion, despite growing international pressure.
Hamas has blamed Israel for a lack of progress in achieving a ceasefire deal.
Talks have been taking place in Cairo as senior officials from the US, Israel, Egypt and Qatar meet to try to broker a pause in fighting.
"The pattern in the last few days [is] not really very promising but, as I always repeat, we will always remain optimistic and will always remain pushing," said Sheik Mohammed, speaking at a meeting of world leaders at the Munich Security Conference.
"I believe in this agreement we are talking at a bigger scale and we still see some difficulties on the humanitarian part of these negotiations," he added.
But he said a truce should not be dependent on a deal to release the hostages held by Hamas.
"This is the dilemma that we've been in and unfortunately that's been misused by a lot of countries - that in order to get a ceasefire, it's conditional to have the hostage deal," he said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he sent negotiators following a request from US President Joe Biden, but added they did not return for further discussions because Hamas's demands were "delusional"................

The Prime Minister’s Office released the following statement:QuoteThe Israeli Government has unanimously approved a declaratory decision regarding Israel’s opposition to international diktats.
The text of the final statement:
1. Israel utterly rejects international diktats regarding a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. A settlement, if it is to be reached, will come about solely through direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions.
2. Israel will continue to oppose unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Such recognition in the wake of the October 7th massacre would be a massive and unprecedented reward to terrorism and would prevent any future peace settlement.
From the article:
Israel obstinately refuses to obey LIEden and the antisemites of his maladministration. Or at least that's how LIEden views Israel's actions.
Israel has issued a stern ultimatum to Hamas: Release the hostages or spend Ramadan dodging Israeli rockets.

Israel agrees to framework of proposed 6-week cease-fire in Gaza: Report
by Filip Timotija
03/02/24 4:01 PM ET
Israel has reportedly agreed to the framework of a proposed temporary cease-fire and hostage release in Gaza that comes after weeks of negotiations by international mediators.
The Israelis “have more or less accepted” the framework and now the ball is in Hamas’ court to agree to the terms, a senior U.S. administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the The Associated Press Saturday, a day before talks will continue in Egypt.
The deal, if accepted by all sides, will reportedly include a six-week cease-fire and Hamas would release hostages considered at risk, according to the U.S. official. The framework would also include a larger influx of humanitarian aid into Gaza as thousands of Palestinians, around one-quarter of Gaza’s residents, are a step away from famine, according to a senior U.N. official.
The response from Hamas about the proposed deal is expected on Sunday, a senior Egyptian official who spoke on condition of anonymity told the AP.
Scrutiny of Israel has intensified as more than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds of thousands are battling for survival in northern Gaza following retaliation by Israel after Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7 that left over 1,200 Israelis dead.
The U.S. Air Forces Central began air dropping aid into Gaza on Saturday. President Biden announced the plan on Friday, reiterating that he believes the U.S. and others need to do more to help Palestinians.
This comes as one in six children in Gaza under the age of two suffer from malnutrition, according to the U.N. official, per the AP.
The proposed cease-fire comes as more than 100 Palestinians died in Gaza City when trying to access humanitarian aid from the convoy delivering food. Palestinians have accused Israel of firing at civilians while Israeli officials said their forces only shot those who were a threat.

The evidence is in their own poorly fabricated figures
by Abraham Wyner
March 06, 2024
The number of civilian casualties in Gaza has been at the center of international attention since the start of the war. The main source for the data has been the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, which now claims more than 30,000 dead, the majority of which it says are children and women. Recently, the Biden administration lent legitimacy to Hamas’ figure. When asked at a House Armed Services Committee hearing last week how many Palestinian women and children have been killed since Oct. 7, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the number was “over 25,000.” The Pentagon quickly clarified that the secretary “was citing an estimate from the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry.” President Biden himself had earlier cited this figure, asserting that “too many, too many of the over 27,000 Palestinians killed in this conflict have been innocent civilians and children, including thousands of children.” The White House also explained that the president “was referring to publicly available data about the total number of casualties.”
Here’s the problem with this data: The numbers are not real. That much is obvious to anyone who understands how naturally occurring numbers work. The casualties are not overwhelmingly women and children, and the majority may be Hamas fighters. ...
This lack of correlation is the second circumstantial piece of evidence suggesting the numbers are not real. But there is more. The daily number of women casualties should be highly correlated with the number of non-women and non-children (i.e., men) reported. Again, this is expected because of the nature of battle. The ebbs and flows of the bombings and attacks by Israel should cause the daily count to move together. But that is not what the data show. Not only is there not a positive correlation, there is a strong negative correlation, which makes no sense at all and establishes the third piece of evidence that the numbers are not real.
Consider some further anomalies in the data: First, the death count reported on Oct. 29 contradicts the numbers reported on the 28th, insofar as they imply that 26 men came back to life. This can happen because of misattribution or just reporting error. ...

BREAKING: Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has said that he will defy Joe Biden's "red line" and invade Rafah to prevent another attack like Oct 7, per Politco
Biden draws ‘red line’ for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: No Israeli attack on Rafah"...30,000 more Palestinians dead" Again, there's that number, made up out of whole cloth by the lying palis and most likely includes the thousands of terrorists whacked by Israel. I don't doubt there are collaterals, but after watching the post Oct 7th videos, I can't generate much, if any sympathy for what they're encountering. They messed with the bull and are whining about getting the horns.
By Ben Wolfgang - The Washington Times - Updated: 3:11 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024
President Biden drew a “red line” for Israel over the weekend, warning against an attack on the Gaza Strip city of Rafah.
In a Saturday interview with MSNBC, the president offered his harshest criticism to date of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said the leadership’s conduct of the war against the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas is “hurting Israel more than helping Israel.” Mr. Biden said Israel must take greater care to protect civilians in Gaza.
He also made clear that an Israeli attack on Rafah would be unacceptable.
“It is a red line,” Mr. Biden said when asked about a potential Israeli military assault on the city. More than 1 million Palestinians have sought shelter in southern Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas war.
“But I’m never going to leave Israel,” the president quickly added. “The defense of Israel is still critical. There’s no red line [where] I’m going to cut off all weapons so they don’t have the Iron Dome to protect them.
“But there’s red lines that if he crosses them — you cannot have 30,000 more Palestinians dead as a consequence of going after” Hamas, Mr. Biden said. “There’s other ways to deal with, to get to, to deal with the trauma caused by Hamas.”
The comments will likely deepen the rift between the Biden administration and Mr. Netanyahu’s government.

He may be surprised to find out that Jews do as they please and think on their own. They do not need or want some uber-White uber-old KKK man from the 1940s to guide and direct them.
All comes down to catering to the Muslim vote.

Joe Biden, AOC and the rest of the Hamas caucus should be forced to watch the video with their eyes taped open like Clockwork Orange.
So, Israel announces it will invade Rafa, and Hamas offers cease fire and hostage release. Coincidence? Maybe, but, it's confirmation Israel is on the right track. At the very least, they 'negotiate' to buy time to set up for the next offensive.
Agressors (Hamas) only sue for peace when they are losing. They use the false promise of peace, cease fire, or armistice to buy time to recruit and re-arm.
Reduce Rafa to ash.
Unconditional surrender of Hamas is the only acceptable, long-term outcome. Anything short of Hamas' unconditional surrender is a guarantee of another future war in Gaza.
Gazans need to turn against Hamas like the Italian populace turned against Mussolini towards the end of World War II.

One can love what Netanyahu did --- AND admit in good conscience that the PM flying 6,000 miles for the sole purpose of personally telling the whole of the elected US Congress --- from the well of the House of Representatives --- to vote against the sitting President's proposed policy initiative is the *quintessential* example of Israeli interference in US politics. And, it's not the only one.

State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel told reporters in a briefing on Tuesday that the U.S. shares the goal of “degrading” Hamas — avoiding the use of the word “defeating,” in an apparent shift of U.S. policy on the Gaza war.
Jake Sullivan: And from the U.S. perspective, this is not a question of defeating Hamas. And anytime I hear an argument that says, “If you don’t smash into Rafah, you can’t defeat Hamas,” I say, “That is a strawman.”
Jake Sullivan: [T]he President is not focused on what’s popular, what’s not popular, how do you shape public opinion.
Jake Sullivan: [Biden]’s interested in how do we get to the right result, and the right result is the enduring defeat of Hamas, a two-state solution that has a secure Israel and a Palestinian state that vindicates the aspirations of the Palestinian people, and a broader normalization of relations so that Israel also has peace with all of its Arab neighbors.
On Tuesday, as Breitbart News reported, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his view that while he was happy to talk to the Biden Administration about it, there was no way to defeat Hamas without entering Rafah.
This is identical to his Ukraine policy, Houthi policy, etc.The DOD and State Department concept seems to be one of 'managed conflict' which keeps defense money flowing, golden parachutes for anyone of flag rank, and who knows? the potential for abundant cumshaw and baksheesh abounds. They did this in Afghanistan, and it has cost American Soldiers and their families dearly, not to mention the king's ransom in materiel (and even Americans) abandoned in one of the most ill-conceived withdrawals in history.
That is not at all a "strawman". Not even close. Sullivan is an idiot.
Biden changed his position the day after 13.2% of Michigan Democrats voted for "Uncommitted" in their primary.
The Palestinians don't want a two-state solution. And Israel can't have peace with its neighbors when those neighbors continue to attack Israel. Sullivan is parroting Iranian rhetoric.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” Biden Campaign Co-Chair Sen. Coons said, “Israel has the right, even the obligation, to defend its civilians against Hamas and to continue pursuing Hamas terrorists. But they have to balance that with their obligation to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian aid going into Gaza. So, a delegation from Israel is now on its way to Washington to meet with our military leadership to consult on how they could possibly conduct a ground invasion into Rafah, where there are still four battalions of Hamas fighters, and allow for civilians to get out of Rafah and conduct an operation in a way that isn’t unreasonably dangerous and unsafe and will result in thousands and thousands more civilian casualties. It’s exceptionally difficult to do, almost impossible, frankly.”

Netanyahu has been spoiling for a fight with the US. He may not survive this one
The Guardian, Mar 26, 2024
How do you gaslight an entire nation about a war and then try to do the same to a superpower that is your ally? And how do you turn a just war into global isolation and widespread condemnation? Just ask Benjamin Netanyahu. He has the patent.
Netanyahu has been deliberately and intently seeking a confrontation with the US ever since late October. The UN security council resolution 2728, demanding an “immediate ceasefire”, is just the latest pretext for this premeditated showdown. This may sound counterintuitive and imprudent to you, given that the two countries are close allies, given Israel’s heavy reliance on US military aid and its diplomatic umbrella, and particularly given President Biden’s sweeping and unwavering support for Israel since the 7 October catastrophe.
But Netanyahu has two reasons to instigate such a confrontation. The first is pure gaslighting on a grand scale. He concocted a narrative that supposedly explains the war’s context and consequently absolves him from the responsibility and accountability he persistently refuses to assume. It also distracts from his stated policy of imploring Qatar to funnel more funds to Gaza to strengthen Hamas, all in order to weaken the Palestinian Authority and render any political negotiations impossible.
[...]
The second reason is more current and practical: the confrontation is about setting up Biden as the scapegoat for Netanyahu’s failure to achieve “total victory” or “the eradication of Hamas”, two fortune cookie-type slogans that he spews regularly.
The security council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, adopted by 14 members with the US abstaining, puts Israel on a double collision course: with the UN security council but more critically, with the US. Netanyahu’s sanctimonious tantrums about how “surprised” he was and how the US abstention is a departure from policy that would prevent victory is mendacious. He was warned repeatedly by the Biden administration that this would be an inevitable outcome if he persisted with his endless recalcitrance, defiance and effective refusal to engage with the US, ostensibly Israel’s staunch ally and protector.

'Madness’: Netanyahu’s handling of US relations under scrutiny after UN vote
The Guardian, Mar 26, 2024
The Israeli prime minister’s handling of relations with the Biden administration, which led the US on Monday to decline to veto a ceasefire resolution at the UN security council, has been greeted by sharp criticism by Israeli commentators.
After the US abstention, prominent columnists across the Israeli media condemned Benjamin Netanyahu’s growing friction with the US president, Joe Biden.
While Netanyahu, who has faced plummeting public approval ratings since Hamas’s surprise 7 October attack on southern Israel, has long been a target for a large section of Israel’s commentariat, the tone in some quarters after the rare US abstention in the security council bordered on derision and contempt.
Driving the sentiment is the vivid awareness within Israeli society of the huge importance of the US-Israeli relationship in terms of financial aid, arms sales and Washington’s diplomatic support, including its frequently used veto on Israel’s behalf on the security council.
The security council vote is a significant moment – but the US says its Gaza policy is unchanged.
Washington’s decision not to use its veto came after a weekend in which US officials say they spoke non-stop to Israeli counterparts warning them in advance, suggesting that Netanyahu’s decision to cancel a visit by a delegation to the US in the aftermath of the vote was more calculated theatre than the result of surprise.

Two dramatic things happened on Monday, neither quite unprecedented by itself but uniquely striking in their back-to-back timing.
First, the United States did not veto but rather abstained from—and thus allowed to pass—a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for an “immediate ceasefire” in the war on Gaza.
It wasn’t the first time the United States has turned away from its usual practice of protecting Israel by vetoing resolutions that criticized the country. In fact, every president from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama abstained at least once on resolutions condemning Israel—Ronald Reagan did so seven times—for expanding settlements, invading Lebanon, permitting the murder of Palestinians, or other crimes and malfeasances.

Report: In ‘difficult’ video call, US tells Israel its Rafah evacuation plan not viable
Virtual meeting between Blinken, Sullivan, Dermer and Hanegbi underlines sides are on ‘completely different pages’ regarding potential IDF op in southernmost Gaza city
Times of Israel, Apr 3, 2024
A virtual meeting on Monday between US and Israeli officials to discuss a potential IDF ground operation in Rafah was reportedly marked by tensions and accusations as Washington expressed deep skepticism over Israeli plans to operate in the southernmost Gaza city.
The two-hour video call between US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the American side and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi on the Israeli side was extremely “difficult,” a Tuesday Channel 12 report claimed, stating that it showed the US and Israel are on “completely different pages” when it comes to Israel’s planned operation in Rafah where Jerusalem says four Hamas battalions remain.
The US representatives expressed deep concern about the threat of famine in Gaza and were highly critical of the IDF’s plans for Rafah, saying its evacuation proposal for the million-plus noncombatants in the city was unimpressive and not implementable.
Offering Hebrew translations of the alleged English conversation, Channel 12 reported that Sullivan told the group: “You’re going to be responsible for the third famine crisis of the 21st century. That is not something we can accept as partners.
Blinken was said to tell Dermer and Hanegbi that “according to the pace of your operations, it will take you four months to evacuate Rafah.”
The Israeli officials were quoted as not having anything to say regarding the US critiques other than reiterating their belief that Hamas cannot be dismantled without the IDF going into Rafah.
Essentially, Channel 12 summed up, the US representatives on the call made clear that if Israel wants any kind of American green light for an operation in Rafah, it needs to provide a viable “day after” plan for the post-war management of Gaza along with a credible evacuation plan for Rafah.

Israel acknowledges killing 7 aid charity workers in ‘tragic, unintentional’ airstrike
Times of Israel, Apr 2, 2024
Facing searing criticism on Tuesday, Israel acknowledged mistakenly carrying out an airstrike that killed seven staff members of a US-based charity group who were unloading food brought by sea to the war-torn Gaza Strip.
The group World Central Kitchen said it was pausing operations after a “targeted Israeli strike” at around midnight between Monday and Tuesday killed three British and four other staffers — an Australian, a Palestinian, a Pole and a US-Canadian.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged a “tragic” and “unintentional” incident and vowed to “do everything” to prevent a recurrence.
A Haaretz report on Tuesday afternoon said the IAF had fired three missiles in quick succession at three vehicles.
The aid group said the team had been traveling in a “de-conflicted” area in a convoy of “two armored cars branded with the WCK logo and a soft skin vehicle” at the time of the strike.
“Despite coordinating movements with the (Israeli army), the convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route,” it said.
The three vehicles were targeted over a distance of around 2 kilometers.
According to a report by the Haaretz daily, a Hermes 450 UAV fired three missiles at the convoy in quick succession despite the vehicles being clearly marked on their roof as being part of WCK. The decision was made by a unit guarding the aid transport route after troops earlier spotted what appeared to be an armed figure riding on a truck that entered an aid storage area with three WCK cars. The attack occurred moments after the three cars left the storage area, leaving the truck and the armed figure behind, according to the report.
After a missile hit one car, those inside evacuated to the other two cars, and managed to report they had been attacked before a second missile hit another car. As the last unharmed car approached to evacuate the wounded, a third missile hit. All seven people who had been in the vehicles were killed, Haaretz reported.
An initial IDF probe into the incident was expected to be released to the public in the coming days, as the General Staff Fact-Finding Assessment Mechanism carries out a more in-depth investigation.

U.S. tells Iran it “had no involvement” in Israel strike
Axios, Apr 1, 2024
The U.S. told Iran that it “had no involvement” or advanced knowledge of an Israeli strike on a diplomatic compound in Syria that killed a senior Iranian general, according to a U.S. official.
The rare message shows the Biden administration is deeply concerned that the Israeli strike could lead to a regional escalation and the resumption of attacks by pro-Iranian militias against U.S. forces.
Israel notified the Biden administration a few minutes before its air force conducted the strike but didn’t ask for a U.S. green light, Israeli and U.S. officials said.
A U.S. official said the Israeli heads-up wasn’t detailed and arrived when the military jets were already in the air. The Israelis didn’t tell the U.S., for example, that they were planning to bomb a building in the Iranian embassy compound.
The strike took place shortly before White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Secretary of State Blinken started a secure video conference call with top Israeli officials to discuss alternatives to an Israeli ground invasion in Rafah.

In Washington, a spokeswoman for the National Security Council, Adrienne Watson, said that “the United States had no involvement in the strike” and “did not know about it ahead of time.”
A U.S. official, who requested anonymity to discuss private communication, said that the statement had been communicated directly to Iran.”
Saw a video on FOXNEWS showing the vehicle in which some of the aid charity workers were killed.
The vehicle was completely destroyed by the explosion/fire. The tires disintegrated...the interior seats...he dashboard.
...all except TWO completely white signs with the logo of the World Central Kitchen were inside with charred edges. and another unscathed in the burnt out to-a-crisp trunk interior.
Not denying they were killed, but the photos were definitely STAGED.
An internal Israeli military inquiry found that the drone team who killed them made an "operational misjudgment of the situation."
It said the team had spotted a suspected Hamas gunman shooting from the top of one of the aid trucks they were escorting. The brigade officers who ordered the strikes, a colonel and a major, were dismissed, while senior commanders were also formally reprimanded.
"The strike on the aid vehicles is a grave mistake stemming from a serious failure due to a mistaken identification, errors in decision-making, and an attack contrary to the Standard Operating Procedures," the military said in a statement on Friday.
The three aid workers' vehicles had been emblazoned with large WCK logos. However, retired Israeli general Yoav Har-Even, who is leading the investigation, said the drone's camera could not see them because it was dark. "This was a key factor in the chain of events," he said.
When dealing with Muslims, nothing can be trusted. Muslims routinely mark their troops/weapons transports as 'medical' or humanitarian relief. They have done this so often as to render the markings irrelevant in determining a target. And it's not like members of aid groups, including UN haven't worked with or facilitated Hamas.
And it's not like members of aid groups, including UN haven't worked with or facilitated Hamas. The terrorists count on Israel (and any Western country) behaving like civilized people. Even though Muslims have no problem bombing, they even specifically target, churches, kindergartens, refugees, and hospitals, the terrorist know that Israel will avoid these kinds of targets. They use Western humanitarianism to their advantage.

Tragic news: According to Amichai Stein on Channel 12 Israel news, Hamas has told the mediators that it does not have 40 hostages in the humanitarian category that are still alive. That is a category of women, children, the elderly, and the sick. The number that they say is alive, which is significantly lower, has not been made public. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “no force in the world” will stop the IDF’s looming advancement into Rafah, the Gaza Strip’s most populous city harboring more than 1 million Palestinian refugees.
Netanyahu was addressing new IDF recruits on Tuesday when he assured the soldiers that Israel will eradicate Hamas over the Oct. 7 massacre despite mounting pressure from the US and other world leaders to hold off on an invasion in Rafah until a robust civilian evacuation plan is secured.
“We will complete the elimination of the Hamas battalions, including in Rafah,” Netanyahu said of the city believed to be the operating site of four of the remaining six battalions.
“There is no force in the world that will stop us,” he added. “Many forces are trying to do this, but it will not help, because this enemy, after what it has done, will not do it again. It will cease to exist.”

Indonesia ready to normalize ties with Israel as part of bid to join OECD – official
Did Hamas merely want to kick-start the statehood process with its barbaric rapes and murders on 1200-plus unarmed men, women, and children on October 7? Not according to a report from Haaretz last week. Hamas leaders had launched the attack expecting to trigger a calamitous and overwhelming conquest of Israel. In fact, they had such confidence in their war strategy that they had already divided Israel into cantons, assigned leadership to them, and made plans for its population under a new Islamist regime.
And those plans will sound very, very familiar to scholars of the last regime that set out to conquer the Jews.
Haaretz' Shlomi Eldar got the story from the wealthy Gazans that managed to flee from the war Hamas started. Gazans call them "the new Jews" because of their wealth in the midst of their poverty, a rather telling anti-Semitic trope. These elites still make money off of remote black-market sales of staples in the Strip, but the anger must always be turned to the Jews rather than the exploitation created by the Palestinian elite.
But these elites have apparently had enough of Hamas. They told Eldar that their leadership had succumbed to "messianic insanity" to such an extent that they had drawn up new political maps of Israel to distribute political power after the conquest. That was bad enough, but Hamas' plans for the Israelis that survived might just as well have come from the pages of Mein Kampf:
Is it wise to put an aircraft carrier in the Red Sea? Isn't that just a large lake of bathtub? Not much room to navigate and maneuver.

Nearly 50 attendees of Israel’s Nova festival died by suicide since Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack, survivor says

Nearly 50 traumatized revelers who survived the Hamas attack on the Nova music festival in Israel have died by suicide in the last six months because they were unable to cope with the tragedy, a survivor revealed Tuesday.
“Few people know, but there have been almost 50 suicides among the Nova survivors. This number, which was true two months ago, may have increased since,” Nova festival survivor Guy Ben Shimon told a parliamentary hearing for a State Audit Commission on the treatment of the Oct. 7 survivors.
He said many of his friends who escaped the massacre could not recover from what they had witnessed, I24NEWS reported.
“There are many survivors who had to be forcibly hospitalized due to their psychological state. My friends are not getting out of bed, neither am I,” he said in Hebrew.
“I am practically unable to do anything. I had to get a dog to help me survive in my daily life. The goal for all of us is to return to work and function normally, but we cannot do it without adequate help,” Ben Shimon added.

Israeli strikes on Rafah kill 22, mostly children, as US advances aid package
The House of Representatives approved a $26 billion aid package on Saturday.
ABC News, Apr 21, 2024
RAFAH, Gaza Strip -- Israeli strikes on the southern Gaza city of Rafah overnight killed 22 people, including 18 children, health officials said Sunday, as the United States was on track to approve billions of dollars of additional military aid to Israel, its close ally.
Israel has carried out near-daily air raids on Rafah, where more than half of Gaza's population of 2.3 million has sought refuge from fighting elsewhere. It has also vowed to expand its ground offensive against the Hamas militant group to the city on the border with Egypt despite international calls for restraint, including from the U.S.
“In the coming days, we will increase the political and military pressure on Hamas because this is the only way to bring back our hostages and achieve victory. We will land more and painful blows on Hamas – soon," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement. He didn't give details.
The first Israeli strike in Rafah killed a man, his wife and their 3-year-old child, according to the nearby Kuwaiti Hospital, which received the bodies. The woman was pregnant and the doctors saved the baby, the hospital said. The second strike killed 17 children and two women from an extended family.
“These children were sleeping. What did they do? What was their fault?” asked one relative, Umm Kareem. Another relative, Umm Mohammad, said the oldest killed, an 80-year-old aunt, was taken out “in pieces.” Small children were zipped into body bags.
Mohammed al-Beheiri said his daughter, Rasha, and her six children, the youngest 18 months old, were among those killed. A woman and three children were still under the rubble.
The Israel-Hamas war has killed over 34,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials, at least two-thirds of them children and women. It has devastated Gaza's two largest cities and left a swath of destruction. Around 80% of the territory's population have fled to other parts of the besieged coastal enclave.

I absolutely agree with you @AllThatJazzZ -- there aren't enough tears and yes, I am in absolutely disgusted at what is happening as well.
As long as we insist on maintaining the "moral high ground", we will NEVER win the war on terrorism! We're in a conflict which we absolutely INSIST on playing by the rules - against a maniacal group who have NO rules!
Rattlesnake Logic in dealing with terrorists.
After the Boston bombing the news media spent days and weeks trying to determine why these men did what they did. They want to know what America did to make these brothers so angry with us.
They want to know why these men were not arrested before they did something so terrible.
The media is in a tizzy about this new era of home-grown radicals and about why and how they can live among us and still hate us.
A Texan explained it:
Here in west Texas, I have rattlesnakes on my place, living among us.
I have killed a rattlesnake on the front porch. I have killed a rattlesnake on the back porch.
I have killed rattlesnakes in the barn, in the shop and on the driveway.
In fact, I kill every rattlesnake I encounter. I kill rattlesnakes because I know a rattlesnake will bite me and inject me with poison. I don't stop to wonder WHY a rattlesnake will bite me;
I know it WILL bite me because it's a rattlesnake and that's what rattlesnakes do.
I don't try to reason with a rattlesnake or have a "meaningful dialogue" with it. I just kill it.
I don't try to get to know the rattlesnake better so I can find a way to live with the rattlesnakes and convince them not to bite me.. I just kill them.
I don't quiz a rattlesnake to see if I can find out where the other snakes are, because (a) it won't tell me and (b) I already know they live on my place. So, I just kill the rattlesnake and move on to the next one.
I don't look for ways I might be able to change the rattlesnake to a non-poisonous rat snake. I just kill it. Oh, and on occasion, I accidentally kill a rat snake because I thought it was a rattlesnake at the time.
Also, I know for every rattlesnake I kill, two more are lurking out there in the brush. In my lifetime I will never be able to rid my place of rattlesnakes.
Do I fear them? Not really. Do I respect what they can do to me and my family? Yes!
And because of that respect, I give them the fair justice they deserve. I kill them. As a country, we should start giving more thought to the fact that these jihadists' are telling the world their goal is to kill Americans and destroy our way of life.
They have posted graphic videos on the Internet showing them beheading Americans. They are serious. They are exactly like rattlesnakes. It is high time for us to start acting accordingly!
I love this country. It's the damn government I'm afraid of! Why?

The attack occurred before U.S. personnel began constructing the floating pier, the official said, noting that “there will be no U.S. forces on the ground in Gaza.”
So will they be walking and working on the water?
Cyber postulates:
"Sounds like we're building a few miles out to sea, so the Pallies can destroy it the moment it touches land. I don't know if Americans are going to be present when that happens"
Sounds good to me.
I despise the palis, but will cheer if and when they destroy that thing.
Actually, I don't care WHO destroys it. Just blast it out of existence.

Netanyahu: We Will Not Agree to Hamas Demand to End the War in Hostage Deal
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video statement on Sunday insisting that Israel will not agree to Hamas’s demand that it end the war as a condition of a deal to release the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza.

You all know what will happen. With the first ship docked to deliver weapons and armament from Iran at this American made dock, Israel will bomb it and sink it to the bottom of the sea. You can bet on it happening. This money being spent to feed a population of genocidal maniacal terrorists is idiotic, but the Biden Idiocracy is just that stupid.
My bet is on Hamas blowing it up before Israel has a chance to do it.

Hamas publishes the cease-fire proposal it agreed to
BEIRUT — Hamas has published a copy of the cease-fire and hostage release proposal that the militant group said it had agreed to on Monday.
The framework brought forward by Qatar and Egypt aims to bring a halt to seven months of war in Gaza. However, it’s unclear if Israel will agree to the terms.
The proposal outlines a phased release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza alongside the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the entire enclave and ending with a “sustainable calm” or “permanent cessation of military and hostile operations.”
Israel has previously said it would not agree to either a full withdrawal of its forces or a permanent cease-fire as part of a hostage release deal.
The first stage would last 42 days and would involve a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the release of about 33 hostages held in the territory, including the remaining Israeli women — both civilians and soldiers — as well as children, older adults and people who are ill.
Thirty Palestinian prisoners held in Israel would be released in exchange for each Israeli civilian hostage and 50 in exchange for each female soldier.
Palestinians displaced in Gaza would be allowed to return to their home neighborhoods during that time.
The parties would then negotiate the terms of the next stage, under which the remaining civilian men and soldiers would be released, while Israeli forces would withdraw from the rest of Gaza. This phase would be conditioned on achievement of a “sustainable calm.”
The final stage would involve exchange of the bodies of hostages who died in captivity and the beginning of a reconstruction plan for the enclave that would take place over three to five years “under the supervision of a number of countries and organizations, including: Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/06/world/middleeast/gaza-cease-fire-talks-timeline.html?smid=url-share
Here is a timeline of the recent twists and turns in the cease-fire talks.
May 6, 2024
Within the course of mere days, hopes for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip have been raised, dashed and raised again, with no clear explanation.
The confusion was perhaps never more evident than on Monday, when Hamas claimed to have accepted the terms of a truce deal even as Israel — a week after making concessions in the hope of an agreement — was ordering civilians in the southern Gazan city of Rafah to evacuate and escalating its airstrikes there.
Here is a look at the recent dizzying turn of events.
Monday, April 29
Israeli officials, offering a hint of hope for a deal, said that their negotiators had reduced the number of hostages they wanted Hamas to release during the first phase of a truce.
Thursday, May 2
A Hamas leader said that the group would soon send a delegation to Cairo to “complete ongoing discussions” on a cease-fire deal.
Saturday, May 4
With talks underway, a senior Hamas official said in a text message that the group’s representatives had arrived in Cairo for the talks, “with great positivity” toward the latest proposal.
Sunday, May 5
The talks — which are held indirectly, through mediators — hit an impasse, and Hamas said its delegation had left Cairo. An Israeli official described the negotiations as in “crisis.”
Late in the day, Hamas launched rockets at a border crossing between Gaza and Israel, killing four Israeli soldiers. Israel stepped up its attacks in Gaza.
Monday, May 6
Hamas said it accepted the terms of a cease-fire — not as laid out in Israel’s proposal, but drawn from one put forth by Egypt and Qatar.
The timing appeared noteworthy. The announcement was made after Israel had ordered people to evacuate from some areas in Rafah, a sign that Israeli forces might be close to launching a long-anticipated invasion of the refugee-packed city. Late in the day, the Israeli military said it was carrying out “targeted strikes” on in eastern Rafah.
The strikes may prove to be an attempt to turn up the pressure on Hamas negotiators. Late in the day, in keeping with a week of contradictory signals, the Israeli prime minister’s office said that Hamas’s latest cease-fire proposal was unsatisfactory.
Then it said would send a working-level delegation back to the talks in Cairo anyway.

Qatari delegation to resume indirect negotiations in Cairo
A Qatari delegation will head to Cairo tomorrow to resume indirect talks between Hamas and Israel in the hope of bringing about a cease-fire in Gaza, Qatar’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
The ministry in a statement said that its spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari made the announcement to the Qatar News Agency.
He expressed “the State of Qatar’s hope that the talks will culminate in reaching an agreement for an immediate and permanent cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, and the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the sustainable flow of humanitarian aid into all areas of the Strip.”

Playground Hit By Rocket AttackStory from The Telegraph at Yahoo News (https://www.yahoo.com/news/hamas-rockets-hit-playground-rare-165720764.html).
This morning, Hamas launched a rocket barrage at the southern city of Be’er Sheva. One of the rockets hit a children’s playground in the middle of town and wounded a 37-year-old woman who was nearby.
Thanks be to God that the warning sirens sounded in time, and the playground was not filled with children when the rocket landed. Rockets and shrapnel also destroyed a vehicle and damaged buildings and roads in the city.
This attack follows a series of missile, mortar, and drone attacks launched by Hezbollah in the north, damaging property, starting fires, and causing more casualties.

Bring Them Home: The Five Americans Still Held Hostage by Hamas
(https://media.breitbart.com/media/2024/05/Isreali-American-Hotages-Israel-Gaza-Getty-640x480.png)
Elizabeth Weibel 10 May 2024
There are still five American hostages being held by Hamas. And though our leaders seem to have forgotten them, the American people have not.
Hamas murdered 1,200 people in Israel in the October 7, 2023, terror attack, and took more than 250 hostages. While some hostages have been freed, there are still roughly 130 hostages still being held by Hamas — not all of whom are still alive.
Five of them are U.S. citizens.
The five American hostages who are still in Hamas’ captivity are; Keith Siegel, 65, Sagui Dekel-Chen, 35, Omer Neutra, 22, Edan Alexander, 20, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23.
Here is a brief description of each.
