President Trump personally directed an effort in February to stop Stormy Daniels from publicly describing an alleged sexual encounter with Mr. Trump, people familiar with the events say.
In a phone call, Mr. Trump instructed his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to seek a restraining order against the former adult-film actress, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, through a confidential arbitration proceeding, one of the people said. Messrs. Trump and Cohen had learned shortly before that Ms. Clifford was considering giving a media interview about her alleged relationship with Mr. Trump, despite having signed an October 2016 nondisclosure agreement.

Well, the WSJ was the one who originally uncovered the Daniels payment and Cohen’s LLC. They haven’t been wrong, so far.

Perhaps you should read Cohen’s plea deal, again. Two of the eight charges were for campaign finance violations, related to the payment.

So what. He can plea that he shot Lincoln if he wants. It doesn't mean it's true. It just means that he is trying to get his crooked ass off the hook for his money laundering operation with the taxi medallions.

Nonsense. Again, 'Law' in the strictest sense doesn't mean anything these days but the only thing that is relevant to the NDA is that SHE signed it and accepted the money.

Contract law is not really as cut and dry as you think. Little things like one party not signing can invalidate the contract. Things like the whistleblower protection act and the first amendment, especially when dealing with public officials, also override any private contract. Also, a NDA can't be used to silence illegal action. You can't tell someone to cover up a crime with a NDA. (the aforementioned campaign finance law issue).
As is almost always the case, it isn't the act that gets you, it is the cover up.

Well, this was handled by his lawyer, Guy Petrillo, not PR guy and Clinton lackey Lanny Davis. He’s got a solid reputation and was once part of SDNY. If he thought he could beat that particular charge, I doubt he would’ve allowed his client to plead guilty to it.

Maybe, but he won’t. Following through on the lawsuit would require him to state, under oath, whether they had sexual contact or not. That’s exactly what the media and Avenatti want him to do.

Adultery is still a crime. A rarely enforced crime, but it is still on the books in most case. So, considering Trump was married at the time, it is illegal.
