KXXV By Jordan Smith 8/7/2018
The U.S. Public Interest Research Group said it found asbestos in Playskool crayons sold at Dollar Tree, according to CBS News.
U.S. PIRG, a consumer advocacy group founded by Ralph Nader in 1971, said it is unclear if the asbestos poses a danger under normal use, such as drawing or coloring. Even so, they recognize some kids have been known to put crayons in their mouths and recommend parents avoid the crayons altogether.

I hope Dollar Tree is on top of this and removes these crayons.
I am old enough to have lived through a time when asbestos was used everywhere. The lovely space heaters in the rooms of our house had fire burning in front of the asbestos. It was a surprise to all who lived then to find out in later years asbestos would kill you. I'm surprised we all didn't die early using products that were dangerous.

Yes, I know you want me dead. You follow my every post to say something really, really, nasty/stupid to me. I was positive you would do it this time since my post related to my age.

Why I am stunned. I was being genuine in my comment. How warped and twisted of you to say such a thing. You should seek professional help to work out your issues.

Way to go, girl! That's telling him. That statement was totally out of line.

"U.S. PIRG, a consumer advocacy group founded by Ralph Nader in 1971"
Based on that I have to believe the crayons in question are safe at any speed.

Yes asbestos can kill you, under certain conditions, if it is small airborne particles that that are inhaled, otherwise the risk is extremely small. And asbestos is still unbelievably prevalent in older homes from the 50's and 60's, from those 8 inch square 'vinyl' tiles to the waste vents and insulation on the outside of duct works, even fire mains still in use were made of asbestos, but as long as it is not disintegrating and those working with it in removal take proper precautions it's not as deadly as TV ambulance chasers make it out to be.
