There is no such thing as a winning national, one issue political party.

This isn't about politics.  It is about saving this country from financial collapse.  Keep playing Democrat-lite if winning elections is all you care about.  But we Conservatives love America too much to sign on to more $2 trillion deficits just because you refuse to spend only what you have.
