Iran crash live updates: President Ebrahim Raisi dead in helicopter crash, state media says

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials died in a helicopter crash in the country’s East Azerbaijan province, Iran’s state-run Press TV reported. The chopper crashed Sunday in thick fog, and search teams struggled for hours in mountainous terrain and poor weather. The deaths of some of the country’s top leaders come at a time of turmoil in the wider region, as the war in Gaza has escalated tensions.

A total of nine people, including Iranian officials and crew members, were killed in the crash, according to Sabreen News, a media organization affiliated with Iranian-backed militias.

Francis Menton asks:
"What Is The Most Pernicious Example Of "Misinformation" Currently Circulating?"

Fishrrman answers:
That "climate change" is fundamentally man-made and that it can be "reversed" through human action taken by authoritarian means.

How's that hit ya?
Perfect. Indoctrinate and panic the indoctrinated, and you will control them.

Oliver Stone says ‘lawfare’ being used against Trump: ‘New form of warfare’
'Whether you’re for him or against him, [the charges] are minor,' Stone says

Filmmaker Oliver Stone said "lawfare" is being used against former President Trump in the various criminal proceedings he's facing in 2024.

Stone brought up Trump in the context of his new documentary, "Lula," about Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who served prison time in 2018-2019 following a corruption investigation. He sees parallels as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York, connected to a hush money payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels.

"The charges on both sides of the Trump-Biden election are pretty wild -- that [President] Biden is corrupt and Trump is corrupt," Stone told Variety.

"It’s a new form of warfare. It’s called lawfare," he continued. "And that’s what they’re using against Trump."

Stone noted that Trump, who pleaded not guilty to all charges and maintains his innocence in the landmark New York case, also faces separate cases related to state and federal election interference, as well as misuse of classified documents.

"Whether you’re for him or against him, they are minor," Stone said. "Corruption is a way of life … It goes back to the Greeks, the Romans, and before that the Babylonians, there’s corruption all through history, so let’s not be Pollyannas about it and think we’re ‘America the clean’ and we’re better than anybody else. That’s such bulls--t."

Closing arguments in Trump’s New York criminal trial are expected to begin Tuesday, May 28. Trump has argued the case against him is a scheme by the Department of Justice to prevent him from campaigning.

Only eight out of nearly two dozen black Philadelphia voters interviewed by the New York Times last week plan to vote for President Joe Biden.

The outlet reports that the series of interviews, which indicate trouble for Biden’s reelection prospects in a state he only won by 81,660 votes in 2020, occurred in primarily black neighborhoods.

“Just eight voters said they were committed to voting for Mr. Biden, while many others were debating staying home, or, in a few cases, supporting former President Donald J. Trump,” the Times’ Maya King and Katie Gleuck wrote.

Moreover, voters’ gripes about Biden resembled those heard at Trump rallies and echoed by Trump’s America First policy platform. The issues cited included “immigration, the cost of living and their sense that Mr. Biden was more focused on crises abroad than on fixing problems in their neighborhoods,” per the outlet.

One voter, Latasha Humphrey, suggested to the Times that Biden is prioritizing other nations’ problems over issues in her community.

“I don’t care about what goes on overseas,” Humphrey, 36, said. “I care about where I live.”

Humphrey is weighing Trump as an option in November.

I pointed out a legitimate point of the article that was missing which really makes a difference to the outcome of the story.

Are you so thin skinned you cannot hear any other side of the story?

If you want to hear only one side and become ignorant and stupid be my guest.

Some of you are  truly the  most misinformed people I have ever met. Some of you have been extremely gracious. Some of you are very knowledgeable

What is scary is some of you do know  how stupid and ignorant you really are and resistant to any change is outright painful to read.

Continue to run off people with a viewpoint other than your own

This site will continue to be a extremely small echo chamber and will eventually die.

Thank you Nancy for allowing me to express my opinion.

@mystery-ak

BTW yes, I am a retread. Posted here a few times 10 years ago?? Was not booted off could not remember my p/w/username or email...and I am not Sinkspur.

BTW This will be  my last post.

Well, that'll be a relief.
