Title: Porn is Misogyny
Post by: WarmPotato on November 06, 2020, 05:16:17 pm
r/PornIsMisogyny is a page on Reddit devoted to combatting the prevalence of pornography in our society. Their sidebar description as of November 2020 currently states:

This is a subreddit to raise awareness about the misogynistic nature of pornography. We want to raise awareness of the evils of porn and promote abstinence from pornography as a boycott on this toxic misogynistic industry.

I highly recommend checking out r/PornIsMisogyny for more information on the dangers of pornography and the facts about porn addiction.

Um... no. (And this coming from a guy who doesn't care much for porn.)

I believe the same.

Doing away with porn to protect the poor, innocent women is exactly the same as when circus side-shows were eliminated:  While it made the do-gooders feel good about themselves, it shafted the "performers" who were making the best money of their lives.

Yep. I agree. Having known a few exotic dancers from being employed in the same establishments they worked in during a slow spell in the oil industry, they were there of their own volition, making better money in two weeks dancing while grandma took care of the kid, than they could have in a month at a 9 to 5 job.

Now that isn't outright porn, but any willing participant in those films is only being taken advantage of as much as they consent, or a crime is being committed.

If they don't consent, or aren't of age to do so, then I have a problem with it.

(and no, I don't watch porn)

I think that piece was written by a Reformed Pro.

There is nothing worse than a harlot turned respectable. A reformed anything is bad enough, but a reformed harlot is the direct wrath of the Devil. Seems that those who have spent time giving pleasure for profit are all the more zealous when it comes to dealing out misery.

The only settings on their zeal is "Off" and "Full Blast."

There ARE some images out there that are degrading to women.

There are some images that are repulsive, and some that are outright horrifying.

There are also some images out there that are degrading to men. (Some people are into that.)

And then, some images that many would call porn
are very clearly intended to admire women (or at least certain women.)

Any "one size fits all" approach to a situation is sure to fail, and usually makes things worse.

Trying to ban porn is only treating the symptom.

The only real solution would be for people to learn (and teach children)
to have healthy relationships, to be kind and respectful to one another.

doesn't matter if she volunteers to debase herself... To let her, to participate, is dishonoring her father and her mother. Not to mention children.

Yah planted that little nugget on me and spoiled all my fun. And there ain't no argument. Believe me I tried.

I suspect the search term "Milf" gets quite a workout at Pornhub.
