Biden struggles to get on Ohio’s November ballot

Ohio lawmakers’ efforts to ensure President Joe Biden is on the state ballot in November hit a road bump on Wednesday as the legislature adjourned without a fix.

A state law requiring presidential candidates to certify their nomination to the secretary of state’s office 90 days before the November election could keep Biden off the ballot.

The Democratic National Convention won’t confirm Biden as the nominee until Aug. 19, which falls after the Ohio 90-day deadline on Aug. 7.

Ohio’s Senate leaders passed a bill that temporarily fixed the problem by allowing certification 74 days before the election. The legislation also prohibited foreign investment in state ballot measures, which differed from a House version of the bill and that House Democrats disavowed.

The House version introduced earlier this week allowed Biden on the ballot and prevented future scheduling conflicts.

On Wednesday, the House adjourned without taking up any version of the bill.

I don't think they had to... Any large movement of documents is going to be full of SNAFU. Whole boxes tossed around for moving... In the natural order of things, misfiled and misplaced documents happen all the time.

All they needed was a reason to go looking.

I don’t think VP pick makes that much of a difference in how people vote

Hunter Biden’s appeals to dismiss gun charges denied ahead of June trial

.

An appellate court on Thursday denied Hunter Biden‘s requests that his gun charges be dropped, clearing the way for a trial to begin in less than one month.

A three-judge panel in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals did not entertain the merits of Biden’s appeals but instead said none of the challenges the first son raised were appealable before the trial, according to a court order.

Biden will head to court on June 3, for a one-week trial, during which a jury will decide if Biden is guilty of three felonies stemming from a 2018 gun purchase.

Special counsel David Weiss alleged in an indictment last year that Biden lied on a gun form about his drug addiction so that he could purchase a revolver.

Weiss said in court filings that federal investigators obtained warrants for Biden’s computer data several years ago and that the data contained messages of Biden admitting to being a hard drug user around the time he purchased the firearm in October 2018.

Weiss also revealed that after Biden was indicted, investigators tested a substance on the revolver, which had been stored in the government’s possession as evidence, and that a test showed the substance was cocaine.

Tom Cotton: Impeach Joe Biden for Political Decision to Withhold Bombs from Israel

Wendell Husebø 9 May 2024

The House must impeach President Joe Biden for withholding ammunition from Israel for political reasons, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) suggested Thursday.

Biden made a commitment on Wednesday to stop the shipment of offensive weapons to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prevent Israel from attacking Hamas in Rafah.

Biden’s decision to withhold bombs from Israel has political implications. Biden’s base wants him to defund Israel, while many moderate Democrats support Israel’s ability to defend itself against terrorists. Biden appears stuck in the middle during an election year as he trails in the polls.

Some Republicans and establishment media pundits immediately characterized the commitment as a “political decision.”

Democrats’ impeachment of former President Donald Trump was for allegedly withholding military aid from Ukraine for political reasons despite Congress authorizing it.

“The House has no choice but to impeach Biden based on the Trump-Ukraine precedent of withholding foreign aid to help with reelection,” Cotton posted on X. “Only with Biden, it’s true.”

I don't begrudge GWB for realizing it in 2000 that he needed a Bull Dog as VP (afterall Cheney ran the committee to appoint the VP).  Unlike Trump's Pence pick to shore up the praying Woman after the genital tape was released.
The apple don't fall far from the tree.  The serpent is trying to tell you something.

Watch: Michael Rapaport Unendorses, Blasts ‘Motherf**ker’ Joe Biden for Withholding Arms to Israel

David Ng 9 May 2024

Actor Michael Rapaport blasted President Joe Biden after his administration confirmed it is withholding arms to Israel over Rafah.

Michael Rapaport called Biden a “bleep,” a “dumb bleep,” and a “cadaver” in a video posted Thursday on X. He also said he is officially “unendorsing” Biden, though he has previously stated he would not be voting for Biden in November.

“You’re not sending weapons to Israel? During a bleep war? While American hostages and hostages from 22 countries are still in that bleep pisshole?” the actor said in the video. “You’re not sending weapons now, you dumb bleep?”
