Arizona Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs files sanctions against former candidate Kari Lake
Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs is seeking nearly $37,000 in attorneys' fees and legal expenses associated with Kari Lake's gubernatorial challenge
By Greg Wehner | Fox News
Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who was announced the winner of the gubernatorial race just days ago, joined a Maricopa County motion seeking sanctions against her opponent, Kari Lake.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson ruled against Lake’s challenge to the result of the November gubernatorial race in which Hobbs was declared the winner by about half a percentage point.
Thompson, who was appointed by then-Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, found the court was not presented with clear and convincing evidence of widespread misconduct Lake alleged influenced the 2022 general election results.
Lake's claims included problems with ballot printers at some polling places on Election Day were the result of intentional misconduct. Thompson said Lake’s witnesses claimed to have no knowledge of the alleged misconduct.
On Monday, Hobbs requested the court award her $36,990 in attorneys’ fees and expenses for the court proceedings attached to Lake’s challenge.

I thought that Hobbs had successfully dodged any involvement in the case.

Further cementing the notion that Dem wins cannot be questioned. Sadly, I can't imagine any court granting her appeals, but the Government WILL win this punishment suit.

Hobbs is a little Hillary Clinton clone. You do not speak against the imperious queen, you are beneath her. If you dare do so you will be punished.
Problem is this suit was not dismissed outright. It didn't meet he burden of proof, but it was not ruled frivolous. It is also being appealed. During that suit it was revealed that there were irregularities and things being done illegally, which occurred with her knowledge and on her watch. It maybe was not enough to overturn an election, but it sure is proof of malfeasance and incompetency.
I would just go right back at her with another suit documenting all those things. Keep the pressure up on her, sanction her own lawyers, and just keep the buzzsaw on her the next four years.

It is high time GOP candidates, especially those who have been wronged as Lake has, turned the tables on Democrats and subjected them to the sort of 'investigation' Trump has been submitted to these last 7 years.
The difference is that there is something to find on the Democrats.

And lots of bureaucrats to stop us.

Basically a snicker, and a $37K middle finger.
She's laughing her ass off right now.

Arizona judge denies request for sanctions against Lake; rewards $33k reimbursement
Hobbs was granted $33k to cover costs associated with retaining expert witnesses and a ballot counter
By Greg Wehner | Fox News
An Arizona judge denied a request from Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs seeking sanctions against her gubernatorial race opponent Kari Lake.
Though the sanctions were denied, the judge awarded Hobbs just over $33,000 to cover costs associated with retaining expert witnesses during a two-day trial brought on by Lake, challenging the results of the November 2022 gubernatorial election.
Lake lost her bid for Arizona governor by a half a percentage point to Hobbs. As a result, Lake challenged the result, claiming there were problems with ballot printers at some polling places on Election Day, which were the result of intentional misconduct.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson ruled against Lake’s challenge, finding the court was not presented with clear and convincing evidence of the widespread misconduct Lake alleged influenced the 2022 general election results.
After the litigation, Hobbs filed a request to the court seeking $36,990 in attorneys’ fees and expenses paid during two-day trial, as well as sanctions against Lake.

- Who paid the $33k?
- Why is Hobbs due anything from a trial she successfully dissolved herself from?
