‘Such a Clown’: J.B. Pritzker Mocked After Threatening to Boycott El Salvador Over Kilmar Abrego Garcia
By Rusty Weiss | 8:19 AM on April 24, 2025

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has ordered state agencies to review and potentially boycott business with El Salvador due to its role in detaining Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

A statement from the Democrat indicates he believes this is a strong stance in support of due process for an alleged MS-13 member and suspected human trafficker.

“The United States Constitution guarantees due process. We are witnessing Donald Trump erode our fundamental Constitutional rights in real time, and we must fight to restore the balance of power,” Pritzker said.

“The State of Illinois will stand up for the Rule of Law and do everything in our power (to) stop the Trump Administration from ripping apart our most basic rights.”

WGN-9 first reported on the move, noting the "punitive actions" against El Salvador are in response to "holding Kilmar Abrego Garcia in custody."

In short, Pritzker is drawing a line in the sand and shaking his meaty fist in defense of ... a gangbanger.

Interesting hill to die on.

Dear Ms. Leavitt;

Be advised that there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant! There are, however, millions of illegal aliens.

Yeah, this 'saving the planet' narrative is idiotic.  Having said that, there is definitely a benefit to virtual doctor benefits in certain circumstances.  As a mother of 5 kids, I knew what pink-eye looked like and didn't need a doctor to diagnose it when one of my kids came down with it, but I still had to go in for an appointment in order to get a prescription for antibiotic eye drops. Stupid, and expensive in both time and money. A virtual doctor visit would be a good compromise in that kind of case.

Karoline Leavitt says Trump admin 'will not tolerate' early release of illegal immigrant who killed two teens
Story by Madison Colombo • 15h

Washington, D.C., April 15, 2025.

Karoline Leavitt: President Trump will not tolerate illegal immigrant crime
The Trump administration says it is taking steps to prevent the early release of an undocumented immigrant convicted of killing two American teenagers in a 2021 DUI crash.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized the administration's stance during an appearance on "America Reports" Wednesday, calling the case a stark example of what she described as a broken immigration system.

"President Trump is not going to tolerate illegal immigrant crime," Leavitt said. "This individual case represents everything that is wrong with our immigration system."

Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano, who was in the U.S. illegally, was convicted in 2022 of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after he crashed into a vehicle carrying 19-year-olds Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin. Both teens were killed in the fiery collision. Ortega-Anguiano was sentenced to 10 years in prison but is now expected to be released early, prompting backlash from the victims' families and immigration authorities.

Leavitt said the administration is working to ensure he remains behind bars.

These 'Campers" should have their student visas cancelled and deport them.  If they are students from the US, expel them.

After 1st checking with a Federal judge of course.

I take issue with the statement

"That means Sweden now has over 50% more murders than the former gang warzone."

Murder rate is usually reported as murders per hundred thousand people.  Sweden having a population of just over 10 million, El Salvadore having a population of 6.5 million, the correct comparison is .320 murders per hundred thousand in Sweden to .307 murders per hundred thousand in El Salvador. Indeed Sweden for the period reported had a higher murder rate, but not 50% higher.

The statement as made is correct, but it is pointless.  Doubtless the US has had more murders in absolute number than either, but given that we have 335 million people, that would hardly be suprising. Reporting absolute numbers, rather than incidence per 100,000 (the standardly used number, others would work, too) for things like murder, cases of a disease, and the like is at best naive at worst deceptive.

Excerpt:
Bronx, NY – Oswaldo Ramos, a 50-year-old career criminal with 19 prior arrests, found himself on the receiving end of raw vigilante justice after allegedly attempting to rape a 70-year-old woman in broad daylight on April 18, 2025, near Creston Avenue and 184th Street in the Bronx. A video report by WNBC-TV, uploaded to YouTube and viewed over 500,000 times, captures the aftermath of what locals call “real accountability,” leaving Ramos hospitalized and conservatives on X, like @MAGAForce2024, praising the community’s response: “This is what happens when the system fails—Bronx residents stepped up!”

Wow. Have real New Yorkers finally gotten fed up?

19 prior arrests? Really? 🙄 We need stricter mandatory minimum sentences for public nuisances. We've given judges way too much flexibility to reduce sentences. I'm all for rehabilitation, but that's at least 15 chances too many.

Miranda Devine: Leftists to blame for much of the US housing crisis — as almost a third of Americans are ‘housing-poor’
By Miranda Devine
Published April 23, 2025, 10:48 p.m. ET

It was typical of Joe Biden’s presidency that, when faced with a difficult problem, he would take the cynical approach of finding a scapegoat to blame while making a promise he never intended to keep.

His response to the housing affordability crisis last year was a textbook case: Blame “rent-gouging” landlords and greedy realtors, make the false promise that his administration would build 2 million new homes via more deficit spending, and hope nobody asks questions — a safe bet, considering the incurious media that surrounded him.

“Folks are tired of being played for suckers and I’m tired of letting them be played for suckers,” Biden said in a campaign speech hammering his scapegoats last year.

Having promised to lower housing costs during his State of the Union address earlier in the spring, Biden’s fiery rhetoric showed he had not the faintest idea of how to solve the problem.

During his presidency, the cost of a median-price home more than doubled, and rents soared to record highs, according to a Heritage Foundation paper, “Biden’s Housing Headache.”

In several cities, it takes more than the entire median household after-tax income to afford a median-price home.

The notion that you can't deport people while giving them due process and an opportunity to contest their removal is belied by the fact that Obama actually had no problem deporting people.
