Foul-mouthed Democratic congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has launched a sensational Senate bid after making a name for herself going after Donald Trump.
The Texas representative submitted paperwork on Monday to join the 2026 race for the US Senate after ex-congressman Collin Allred announced that he would seek a seat in the House instead.
Allred said he dropped out to avoid an ugly primary - and a likely runoff that would be triggered if no candidate receives a majority in the first round of the March 3 vote.
Crockett, a rising star in the increasingly progressive Democratic Party, is expected to hold a press conference later today in Dallas.
She now faces state Rep. James Talarico in the primary, with the winner challenging the Republican incumbent Sen. John Cornyn or a primary rival like AG Ken Paxton.
The two-term representative's fiery rhetoric, including branding Trump 'Temu Hitler' and calling his supporters 'mentally ill', has put her on the map nationally.
However, questions extend beyond her rhetoric.
The congresswoman came under fire last month as it was revealed that her campaign spent at least $75,000 on exclusive hotels, transportation, and security this year, according to a Federal Election Commission filing.
She is also facing scrutiny over trading 25 stocks while in Congress, after sharing the information during her time as a state legislator.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) announced her bid for the US Senate in Texas on Monday and absolutely bombed during her announcement address, kicking it off with sound bites of President Trump roasting her, declaring herself the next Barack Obama, then crying!
The far-left rep’s ghetto event was emceed by rapper Cameron McCloud, who rapped, “She ain’t never scared if she ain’t never been. Who was willing to go toe to toe against the president.” He then calls out the “racist bigots,” but he couldn’t even rap his own song, acknowledging that some of the words got “messed up.”
McCloud: She ain’t never scared, and she ain’t never been. Who was willing to go toe to toe against the president. I can’t wrap my head around someone who votes Republican. She advocate for feeding kids. They protect folks, touching them. Trump invading his own country with our army, what a joke? We remember Pearl Harbor by illegally bombing boats. What y’all thought?
