The Senate passed the GOP’s $1.5 trillion tax cut early Wednesday morning, leaving just one technical hurdle and President Trump’s signature as the final steps before the president’s top legislative priority becomes reality.
There was little last-minute drama in the Senate where the final tally was 51-48 – hardly different from the original version that cleared the Senate earlier this month.
Not a single Democrat voted for it, just as none in the House voted for a similar bill earlier on Tuesday.
Moments after the measure passed, Trump was quick to voice his approval and said if the House succeeds in a final re-vote Wednesday morning, there will be a White House news conference at 1:00 p.m.
'The United States Senate just passed the biggest in history Tax Cut and Reform Bill,' he tweeted just after 1:00 in the morning. 'Terrible Individual Mandate (ObamaCare)Repealed. Goes to the House tomorrow morning for final vote.'
With a final House vote not expected until around lunchtime, the White House announced that Trump would hold a 'bill passage event.' The president will have to sign the bill later.
House Speaker Paul Ryan tweeted: 'Great news. The Senate just passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. After years of work, we are going to enact the most sweeping, pro-growth overhaul of our tax code in a generation.'
A wave of protesters provided one of the biggest bursts of emotion. One small group yelled out ‘Kill the bill, don't kill us!’ as the final vote was being taken.

I agree that needs to be done. Pass limited highly one-time restrictive Dreamer provisions offset by clamp down on chain provisions.

This would be the only way I would feel good about any Dreamer accomodation.
It may be a good strategy - the GOP, while friendly to immigration that benefits the economy, derive very little from chain migration, which constitutes 70% of all immigration, a good portion of which are a net drain on the economy.
The party just might get behind such a restriction.

I calculated my taxes paid in 2017 using the IRS tax tables. I used my same salary to calculate what my taxes would be in 2018 under the new plan. There's a $1,745.00 difference in my favor, before anything else is factored in. If the left is going to keep trying to say it's not a middle class tax cut, they're fools.

I understand a lot of Docs have set up "Boutique Practices." Flat monthly rate, and see them when you like, for as long as you like, no insurance to tell him what he can do. Get a cheapo Major Med policy and you're set.

I do believe that the debt will receive some reduction due to economic growth, but I don't the think the revenue will be enough to wipe it out without cutting the budget.
I nice combination of tax cuts and spending cuts would be ideal.

If nothing else this would have been the last year I could claim the child tax credit. Now it's extended to age 18, so it allows another year to claim my son.

Trump’s a businessman, he knows how to control costs.
I wouldn’t worry too much, though. Trump’s got another seven years to work on his agenda for a prosperous and strong America.
Everything can’t get done all at once. But, certainly celebrate! Let’s enjoy this small victory.

Certainly the deficit will shrink in reverse proportion to the economy if the damn congress doesn't spend it as fast as it comes in like they did in the eighties.
I'm more concerned with stripping government of the control the current tax code gives them than I am lowering the deficit.

I have heard some of those advertised. $100 per month individual. $300-400 family with kids. Another is a Christian co-op of some type, too.

I remember mom writing the doctor a check after visits. Thank goodness the government since got so involved and improved everything.

I remember as a 17 year old college freshman, breaking my hand with a displaced boxer's knuckle, on a guy's head.
My parents were pissed and told the doctor to not perform the surgery to hold it in place, as that would be several HUNDRED $$ greater cost.
