Bronx smash-and-grab nets over $2M in ‘high-end diamond jewelry’: NYPD

A 30-second smash-and-grab heist in The Bronx netted a clutch of thieves more $2.15 million in “high-end diamond jewelry” during a wild, caught-on-video robbery, police say.

Surveillance video shows a suspect, clad in a white T-shirt and a black cap and wearing sunglasses, acting like a customer when he’s buzzed into Rocco’s Jewelry on Webster Avenue in Fordham around 2:30 p.m. Friday, cops said.

But instead of going inside, the man then let his three masked cohorts rush through the door, video shows.

"But instead of going inside, the man then let his three masked cohorts rush through the door, video shows."

A solution to this is an "airlock" style entrance: TWO doors, with a safe space in between.

Customer on outside wants to go in... buzzed into first door which must lock behind him. Then, open the inner door. Kind of like they did on airplanes after the World Trade Center attacks.
