Title: Cuomo: "don’t have a family gathering, even for Thanksgiving"

With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, Gov. Cuomo is also cautioning against large family gatherings. (...) He also cautioned about recent upticks in COVID cases related to small gatherings – warning that large gatherings are not the only way the virus can spread.

This man is a monster.

I don't want to hear another Democrat screaming about separating families when they worship Cuomo as a hero.

We just had that family discussion last night.  We've decided not to get together this year.  We have too many seniors that we can't risk losing.

Just three of us this year. Plus the guest of honor. (Turkey)

The single people will have to make do. Normally they would go to other family or go out to eat.

Frankly, i wouldn’t care if I was alone for it with a tUrkey TV dinner either. I like my company

Our Thankgiving plans will go on without change.   I do not choose to live in fear.    I have happily returned to my pre-covid ritual of sitting at the counter at my local diner reading the WSJ.

I like that ritual. Wall Street Journal is good reading.

@Jazzhead

It's the best paper in America, and it's not even close, especially with a short stack of blueberry pancakes.

Absolutely right.

My son and his intended (they were to marry this November which starts this Monday, but they are stuck in their condo [they own it] and can't leave), are now living in Cardiff, Wales, and Wales last Friday went into tier 3, Wales and rest of England named tier for the worst action to stop interacting with each other.

They can only leave the condo to exercise, can't meet with anyone, even family.  He bought a fancy stationary bicycle and they both use it in order to keep their body moving.
Both they and her mom and dad, are calling in a food order for a week, the groceries get delivered to their door so they and her parents never leave their house.

Third tier also means they can't drive anywhere except to get food, go to doctor.  They can't drive out of Cardiff, can't drive out of Wales.  He gave up his apartment in London and they moved everything in apartment to condo in Cardiff.

London is in tier 2, so they have a few more freedoms but tier 3 is likely going to happen there.

We meet every four days using Skype.  I bought my little Yorkie, Prissy, a sweater as it is now cold here, and they could see her with her sweater on.  We may gripe about electronic technology, but without that, I could not see them/talk to them.  An actual phone call to them was and is, expensive.  Skype is free.

I forgot to add that another reason we aren't getting together is that my brother and his family all voted for Biden and it would end up getting rather ugly....lol.

Yup.  It's sobering to realize that there's a distinct possibility we won't yet know who the next President is by Thanksgiving.  People will be carving each other instead of the turkey.

That's too bad. I was so looking forward to sitting across the table with my liberal relatives and telling them all about my new gun purchases....

We're not changing any plans. Going to my sister's for dinner. Her younger daughter, age 20, is a flaming liberal, like a typical college student, but I'm sure we'll all refrain from the subject of politics or the election.

Update: Cuomo now bans any private residence from hosting a gathering of more than 10 people.

I never understood why the upstate didn't make a serious effort to split from NYC metro.  They would have around the same number of people as Tennessee, and a fair shot at economic recovery.

New York City has them convinced that upstate would be broke without their money... and they have no desire to let go of us.

Actually, come to think of it, there's a huge chunk of upstate that arguably never should've belonged to New York in the first place. It should've either been put in the Northwest Territory (like Connecticut's Western Reserve, which is now Ohio) or held by Massachusetts.

I actually know several thanksgivings now where every family member coming from NY to NJ or vice versa are taking Covid tests this week before they can go to the family dinner.

Everyone I know, my family and my mom’s friends are all getting tested this week.
