I was wondering when someone was going to get to the greatest drummer who ever lived.

I have long believed that Sing Sing Sing is among the greatest instrumental works of the 20th Century. I thought that when my late father first introduced his long-haired son to Big Band and swing music in the 1970s, and I still think so today.

I agree. If I hadn't already told my husband that I don't want a funeral when I die, I would have asked that "Sing Sing Sing" be played at it.
As an aside, my sister, now a professional clarinetist, met her idol Benny Goodman when she was in high school and was utterly unable to speak, she was so awstruck. Her friend had to say, "Mr. Goodman, this is your biggest fan!"

I can't believe there is even a question. It's Rock And Roll - Led Zeppelin

Everything is debatable but the facts remain the facts @skeeter. :tongue2:

I happened to be watching the Tonight Show the night Buddy Rich did that solo performance when it first aired. I was amazed. I've never forgot it. Thank you for posting it.

Looks a lot like the Rick Beato list on YouTube: https://youtu.be/HmZCOpNC2HY (https://youtu.be/HmZCOpNC2HY)

I guess some of my fave drummers actually didn't have much time to hotdog, they just added to the group's songs and went on their way... No hate on any of the songs/drums listed... thanks for showcasing them (fun poll) !!

Not an intro, and not great clarity, but listen to Ginger Baker in "Sunshine of Your Love". He's doing a lot more than just being a clock:

If you haven't seen it, you need to watch "Beware of Mr. Baker"
-
I guess technically Ringo's drum solo was the intro to "The End"

Interesting cymbal mix. K Zildjian ride, a Paiste crash and (I think) a Zildjian China I didn't see him use. The bottom hat is a Z Custom and the top is a different variety of Zildjian (maybe A?); neither appear to be Master Sound. I couldn't make out the two crashes he did use.
