Mexican Diplomat’s Dishonest Claims About Illegal Alien Law-Breaking Do Not Stand Up to Scrutiny
April 29, 2024

Mexican diplomats and politicians have a long history of lecturing Americans on illegal immigration, along with attempting to meddle in U.S. politics in ways that favor illegal aliens while undermining our border security and rule of law. The most recent example is Mexico’s consul in Oklahoma City protesting about an Oklahoma state law that aims to act against mass illegal migration at a time when the Biden administration refuses to do its job.

The statute in question is HB 4156, which passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives on April 18 by an overwhelming majority of 77 to 20. The state Senate passed it on April 23. Inspired by anti-illegal-immigration state legislation in Texas, “[t]he measure aims to crack down on illegal immigration in Oklahoma by creating the crime of impermissible occupation and requiring individuals to leave the state within 72 hours of their conviction or release from custody,” as explained by a press release issued by Oklahoma State Senator Casey Murdock. First-time offenders found guilty would be punished with a misdemeanor, a fine of up to $500, a year in jail, or both.

Predictably, the common-sense law has drawn criticism and attacks from pro-illegal-alien activists and lobbyists, and from Mexico’s consul in Oklahoma City, Edurne Pineda. Repeating standard open-borders euphemisms, Mrs. Pineda claimed that “ndocumented migrants” aka people “without papers” are “not criminals, and they do pay taxes. They work really hard” and “are here because they get employed, because your economy needs them.” She concluded that “criminalizing them is not going to solve anything, nor is it fair.”

The Enduring Relevance of National Sovereignty and Borders
April 30, 2024

“No border, no security.” That simple common-sense point was made by historian Marek Chodakiewicz as he opened up a conference on “U.S. Sovereignty: The Border Challenges” at the Institute of World Politics (IWP) in Washington, D.C., earlier this month. Given that the overarching theme of the conference was the importance of national sovereignty and the manifold security threats posed by open borders, the graduate school of statecraft, national security, and international affairs was an appropriate venue to host such an event. Speakers included Matt O’Brien – current Director of Investigations at the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) and a former immigration judge and FAIR research director – and Mark Morgan, a one-time senior fellow at FAIR, Border Patrol chief, and Acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Below are a few highlights from the conference (with each presentation hyperlinked in the relevant paragraph).

Professor Chodakiewicz, a legal immigrant from Poland, pointed out how essential national borders are for our security. He noted that border security is particularly important in light of communist China’s exploitation of porous borders under the current administration to wage a de facto war on America by working with brutal Mexican cartels to smuggle drugs into the U.S. The fact that the current political establishment allows this to happen and does nothing, he concluded sadly, stems from a disregard for Americans in so-called “flyover country.”

S. Marshall Wilson – a veteran U.S. Army infantry officer, Christian missionary to Peru, and former West Virginia state delegate – stressed how masses of illegal aliens suddenly showing up across the U.S. puts a strain on local communities throughout the American heartland. This is particularly true in economically depressed areas such as Wilson’s native West Virginia.

Biden will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 19 politicians, activists, athletes and others
by DARLENE SUPERVILLE, Associated Press - 05/03/24 7:24 AM ET

WASHINGTON (AP) — Clarence B. Jones says he thought a prankster was on the line when he answered the telephone and heard the person on the other end say they were calling from the White House.

“I said, ‘Is this a joke or is this serious?’” Jones recalled. The caller swore they were serious and was calling with the news that President Joe Biden wanted to recognize Jones with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

Jones, 93, will be honored for his activism during the Civil Rights Movement. He’s a lawyer who provided legal counsel to Martin Luther King Jr. and helped write the opening paragraphs of the “I Have a Dream” speech that King delivered at the Lincoln Memorial at the 1963 March on Washington.

Jones is among a diverse group of 19 individuals to be honored Friday by the Democratic president for making what the White House said are “exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.”

The 10 men and nine women hail from the worlds of politics, sports, entertainment, civil rights and LGBTQ+ advocacy, science and religion. Three medals will be awarded posthumously.

“These nineteen Americans built teams, coalitions, movements, organizations, and businesses that shaped America for the better,” the announcement from the White House said. “They are the pinnacle of leadership in their fields. They consistently demonstrated over their careers the power of community, hard work, and science.”

Seven politicians are among the recipients: former New York mayor and philanthropist Michael Bloomberg, Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., former Sen. Elizabeth Dole, climate activist and former Vice President Al Gore, Biden’s former climate envoy John Kerry, former Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., who died in 2013, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Clyburn’s endorsement of his longtime friend Biden in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary is credited with helping Biden score a thundering win in South Carolina that helped power him to his party’s nomination and ultimately the White House. Bloomberg mounted a short-lived bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

In addition to representing North Carolina in the Senate, Dole, who is a Republican, also served as transportation secretary and labor secretary and was president of the American Red Cross. She currently leads a foundation supporting military caregivers.

Pelosi is the first and only woman ever elected to the speaker’s post, putting her second in the line of succession to the presidency.

Medgar Evers will receive posthumous recognition for his work more than six decades ago fighting segregation in Mississippi in the 1960s as the NAACP’s first field officer in the state. He was 37 when he was fatally shot in the driveway of his home in June 1963.

Immigration/Border / Rewarding Bad Behavior

Rewarding Bad Behavior

There are many immigration and enforcement challenges that – left unattended – lead to a breakdown of the system. One of the greatest challenges in achieving a sensible policy is to address the propensity for policy makers to respond to these failures by issuing benefits to large groups who violate the law.

See our vision for a different approach
The ease of finding illegal employment in the United States is the single biggest pull factor behind illegal immigration. This was true when the so-called “Hesburgh Commission” issued its final report in 1981…

“All studies indicate that undocumented/illegal aliens are attracted to this country by U.S. employment opportunities.”

– Select Commission on Immigration and Refugee Policy, ”U.S. Immigration Policy and the National Interest.”

…true when Barbara Jordan issued her commission’s findings in 1994…

…true in 2009 when Senator Chuck Schumer said “tough enforcement and auditing is necessary to significantly diminish the job magnet that attracts illegal aliens to the United States”; and it is true today.

One of the truly universally-accepted realities of migration is that the lure of jobs is the principle pull factor that leads to illegal immigration. How absurd then that multiple congresses and administrations have responded to failures to contain illegal immigration by…granting illegal aliens American jobs.

Weaker Than Expected: U.S. Hiring Slows With Economy Adding 175,000 Jobs in April and Unemployment Rose to 3.9%

John Carney 3 May 2024

Employers in the United States added 175,000 workers to their payrolls in April, the Department of Labor said Friday.

The unemployment rate ticked up to 3.9 percent from 3.8 percent in the prior month.

Economists had forecast payrolls would grow by 240,000 and the unemployment rate would hold steady at the prior month’s 3.8 percent. The low end of the range of forecasts in the Econoday survey was 190,000 and the high end was 303,000.

The weaker-than-expected figure may revive hopes for rate cuts this year. Stock futures moved higher when the jobs report was released. Futures markets suggested an earlier start to rate cuts from the Fed than they had earlier this week.

Last month, the government said the economy added 303,000 jobs. That was revised up in the latest report, to 315,000. The February estimate was revised down last month by 5,000 to 270,000. It was revised down again to 236,000. After the revisions, employment in February and March combined was 22,000 lower than previously reported.

Wage gains moderated. Overall hourly wages rose 0.2 percent, less than the 0.3 percent estimated and lower than the 0.3 percent recorded in March.

Biden Roasted for National Day of Prayer Message: ‘You’re the Last Person Who Should Be Quoting Scripture’

President Joe Biden is the last person who should be quoting scripture, social media users said on Thursday, after Biden posted a message for the National Day of Prayer, referencing scripture while spending the last few days promoting the murder of unborn children.

On the National Day of Prayer, Biden wrote, “Scripture tells us to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and be constant in prayer.”

“On this National Day of Prayer, my prayer is that we keep faith that our best days are ahead of us and continue to believe in honesty, decency, dignity, and respect,” he said in a message that did not include the words “God” or “Jesus”:

Many social media users were quick to point to the irony of Biden referencing scripture, given that many of his policies contradict it time and time again.

“You’re the last person who should be quoting scripture, considering that your policies directly contradict the teachings of the Bible,” one wrote, as another pointed out that Biden pays lip service to scripture while pushing for the murder of unborn children.

“You talk about murdering babies in the womb and then talk about scripture? How dare you?” another individual said adding, “You are not a Christian.”

“If Joe Biden is a Catholic, why doesn’t he follow Catholic values?” another asked. “Votes over Catholic values?”

Other comments include:

“Spare me your lecture on honesty, decency, dignity and respect. You embody none of those.”
“Your prayer will soon be answered when we vote Trump back into the White House.”
“Honesty, decency, dignity, and respect are all the things you lack in character.”
“From the man that supports late term abortion. Biden is a wannabe Catholic.”
“Since when do you believe in: Honesty? (constantly lying about Trump) Decency? (Push a ghey [sic] and trans narrative at the White House) Dignity? (allowing kids to chop there stuff off) Respect? (Making 100 posts on Easter about trans day)”
“Abortion fanatic wants to talk about scripture!”
