They didn’t expect Trump to win and it’s been downhill ever since.
Last week President Donald Trump’s recently appointed chief White House strategist caused a stir among the press corps. He telephoned the New York Times, and in what the Times reported as “blunt but calm tones” proclaimed, “The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while….” Yes, he said the media should be “embarrassed and humiliated.” The journalists’ reacted with what the Times called “alarm and defiance.”
Christiane Amanpour, the pulchritudinous CNN correspondent, captured the alarm of many journalists, when she responded on Twitter, “What country are we living in?” Well, perhaps I can be of help here. Ms. Amanpour, you are a citizen of the United Kingdom, being of British-Iranian heritage. Moreover, I have it on very good authority that you are living in London. So long as you obey the laws of the United Kingdom ,you should continue to thrive, and so long as your documents are in order, you can travel to our shores anytime. But I advise you to avoid maudlin outbursts, especially in the presence of President Trump and Mr. Bannon.

And it's only going to get worse. The left is VERY afraid!
-
It's not just the left that's afraid. Even those sympathetic to Trump's populism are alarmed at his government-by-improvisation.

Nope, It's pretty much the left, And liberals like you.

Yep! They are finally coming to the realization that they have no power left at the federal level and little at the state level. They are in great danger of losing much of what they have so long worked for and they know it. The death throes will be loud, long, and very entertaining.

Both Mattis and Kelly were angry that Trump rolled out his travel ban without warning. Most conservatives are willing to give the guy a chance - but he's burning political capital and making enemies he doesn't have to. Karl Rove in this morning's WSJ described the President's first week as amateur hour.

Amen.
It is enjoyable to witness their slow decent into madness as it unfolds before our very eyes in real-time.

Yes, the populism energized by Trump means the potential is there for permanent political re-alignment. But not if Trump succumbs to madness.

Yep. Federalism and the constitution are still important in my book and I would no more vote for Trump today than when I agreed with Jim Robinson that Trump is a lying liberal scumbag.
Its also doubtful that he'll be able to keep his coalition together. I see some of his union fans on twitter are now asking him to do something about stopping those "Corporate slave driving right to work laws" or else.

And it's going on in so many fronts that the Rats don't even know where to focus their protests. Vaginas? Supreme Court pick? Cabinet picks? Muslims? Obamacare? It's gotten so bad for them I saw the protesters have a generic "Oppose" signs that have a space to magic marker in the issue of the hour...

Karl Rove? As if Karl Rove's commentary has any relevance. For someone who has been a Conservative "since Reagan", you should know better than to throw Karl Rove out as support of your argument.

You will find that Jazzy is full of contradictions.

I recall Rove being clearly aligned with Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich, John McCain and the establishment "in crowd" that were so roundly rejected this time around.

His logic is so twisted it could hide behind a corkscrew.

I have been personally acquainted with Karl Rove since the days when he ran a direct mail business in Austin! He should have stuck with that! He was good at it!
BTW: IMHO Karl Rove has NEVER been a conservative and is, in fact, personally responsible for many of the failures of his former boss President G. W. Bush!

That there is an understatement.

You know me Frank! Ever the gentleman! :dancer:

If Karl Rove's not a conservative, then surely neither is Trump.
But it's all about labels, isn't it? Don't bother to refute Rove's statement, just claim he's not a conservative, as if that matters a whit.
What apparently folks are unable to deny is what Rove said is dead-bang accurate - Trump's first week performance has been atrocious, burning political capital, picking needless fights, and creating unnecessary enemies.

Obviously right on both counts.

Karl Rove - well, there you go. Has to be correct.

I'd forgotten that song. Good one.

Two things!
1. One of them never claimed to be and the other has!
2. I could care less what they claim to be! I much prefer to judge them on what they PROVE to be!

And what authority do you possess to determine just who is and who is not "conservative"? Neoconservatives, social conservatives, paleo-conservatives, economic conservatives, national security conservatives and libertarians have all claimed the label. Conservatives have backed the flat income tax espoused by Steve Forbes or the Fair Tax that creams your jeans. Conservatives have supported marriage equality on the basis of the 14th amendment and rejected it on the basis of words in a 2,000-year old book.
What's the point of casting good folks outside the tent? It seems we need all the conservatives we can get to win elections and influence the course of events.

Principled Conservatism hasn't changed a whit. Liberals who try to change it's meaning haven't got it done. And neither has the moderate right.
What's the point of casting good folks outside the tent?
They're not good. By definition.
It seems we need all the conservatives we can get to win elections and influence the course of events.

I don't support Donald Trump so all the federalism and constitutionalism in the world doesn't change the fact that I'm practically Al Qeada.
Screw the Trumpenreich.
