Don’t know if anyone here listens to podcasts or not, but it seems to me so many people I know in real life listen to podcasts instead of the radio.
Do you listen to podcasts and if you do any recommendations?
-
I’ve been listening to a French podcast from Duolingo. It’s helping me in my quest to learn to speak French
-
I listen to lots of them. Right now my favorites (political) are “The A.M. Update” and “The Victor Davis Hanson Show”.
I also listen to a plethora of religion-based podcasts. “Conversations That Matter”, “Issues, Etc”, “Grace to You: Pulpit Podcast” and “A Word Fitly Spoken” to name a few.

My favorite is Michael Berry. He's the closest thing we have to Rush now.

Out of curiosity @Gefn, why do you want to learn to speak French as opposed to Spanish??
French is a beautiful language and I took it in high school. I used to be fairly fluent; reading and understanding better than being able to speak the language.
-
The only podcast that I have listened to on occasion is The Verdict with Ted Cruz -- I don't even know if it's airing anymore.

Why Spanish? French would do me more good. I am far more likely to run into a French speaking Canuck than a Mexican...
-
I listen to a ton of em... though not really in the podcast/radio format. Most of em have a yootoob show, so I tend to watch em there. Religious stuff mostly in the daytime, and bushcraft/homesteader/farmer stuff at night... though the bushcraft/homsteader/farmer stuff is more vloggy/presentational.
-
I listen to Ben Shapiro from time to time.
-
Deb,
Searching on AM Update, there were at least six of them. Are you referring to the one with Aaron McIntyre?
-
I listen occasionally to Dan Bongino's podcast.

In FL - Spanish is a mandatory subject that has to be taken in in order to graduate high school. Lots of laborers; roofers, plumbers, electricians, pest control, lawn maintenance, are predominately Spanish speaking. Whether or not they are here ILLEGALLY is unknown. I used to flat out ask the contractor if all of his employees were here legally. Now I just wait to see who they send out. If I call a company and the receptionist has a Spanish accent, I pass. I have had people come to my door after I've hired them, expecting English speaking workers only to find them speaking Spanish and unable to communicate in English. I have had to call a few companies and fire them.
Maybe I am too crass but this is America. We speak English. If you come to work on my property, you need to be able to communicate. :patriot:

Hi @libertybele
I had 4 years of Spanish in HS- and one year in College. In grad school I had to pass a translation exam in Spanish to graduate.
I thought I would go to Paris in 2020- obviously I didn't. I just got comfortable doing 15-30 minutes a day learning French it's become almost automatic now.
I don't think I will be going to Europe anytime soon but a girl can hope, right ?

@Gefn Wow. I am very impressed. You are fluent in Spanish and now learning French as well. That's awesome! What language program are you using to learn French??
You have inspired me to take up either learning Spanish or continuing to learn French (it's been a really long time though). I have been telling myself for years that I need to learn another language and just have kept putting it off.
As for your trip to Europe -- yes, absolutely there's always hope. happy77

Duolingo. I use the app but you can also use it on your computer.

Depending on content/guest, I occasionally watch Rogan's. He's a good point of reference of one of our political opponents that at least is rational...
On the off beat side, and depending on guest, I like to watch "Hot Ones". Nothing like seeing how an interviewee responds after eating a 2 million Scoville Hot Wing. Guy is good with his questioning too.
p.s.....
Did a parse of 200 top podcasts.... Here are how Conservatives fared. (May 11th update)
Ben Shapiro- 12
Megyn Kelly (semi-right) - 19
Dan Bongino- 27
Charlie Kirk- 50
Matt Walsh- 54
Vivek Ramaswamy- 71
Tucker Carlson- 73 *
Glenn Beck- 88
Steve Bannon- 96
Mark Levin- 141
*- Was shocked that Tucker's rankings were so poor. Not sure this is a function of his decline, or whether his views on Twitter isn't counted in the metrics.

I believe it still is. I’ve enjoyed that one too.

What kind of podcast are you interested in, @Gefn ?
Everyone is giving you political stuff... Is that what you're after?

Good gosh no. I like my podcasts to be about different things. Lately other than my French podcast I have been listening to one about movies and tv.... or of course animal stories. Or old radio shows like Dragnet, or Jean Shepard or Bob and Ray
I want to think of happy things when I am walking or going to the gym. no current affairs.
Thank you @roamer_1

I have been a long time listener to Coast to Coast AM - same ol Art Bell type weirdo stuff... Though Art Bell is long gone. Noory (Art's successor) is dang near gone... But it keeps on tickin....
You can find that on any podcast place and on youtube. I do the youtube one, and it is usually 1/2 hr to an hr long.
It's good for the part of me that chases after windmills (Waxing Quixotic, RIP) happy77
-
Another weirdo one is Blurry Creatures on Spotify or Youtube, for sure, maybe elsewhere...
But that's all I have to prolly recommend... All the rest of my stuff is heavy philosophy and religion, or hillbilly.
A note though @Gefn ... If you are listening on your ph., then I might recommend staying in audio podcasts - Not youtube or the like, because the video that comes along with the audio is a whole lot of weight on your phone, and will wear down your battery pretty quickly. Pure audio sites will last a whole lot longer.

For something entirely different, I recommend The Minimal Mom. She’s a young(ish) mom from the Midwest who promotes a minimal lifestyle. I’m needing to downsize (i.e. get rid of) a lot of stuff in my house. I’ve learned a lot from her.
-
My Favorites are X22 report and And We Know

Well I could send ya folders (hundreds) of 80s music that is so rare every song would be unknown to ya. Don't know how ya would stream it though, and most folks do everything now on a phone so they can't actually download anything of any size.
Promise you wouldn't know a single song... Buddy of mine is even doing a series on the songs now... One Letter at a time...
