ObamaCare enrollees to join president in Rose Garden (Video)
By Justin Sink - 10/20/13 05:12 PM ET
President Obama "will directly address the technical problems" with the ObamaCare website during a Rose Garden event Monday morning, according to a White House official.
The president will discuss work continuing "around the clock" to improve the website, which has been plagued by problems since its launch earlier this month. According to the White House official, the president and his team find those troubles "unacceptable."
The official said the president will be joined by "consumers, small business owners, and pharmacists," including individuals who have already enrolled in ObamaCare online.
Many individuals have reported issues creating accounts on the website, which allows uninsured Americans to shop for health insurance. Healthcare providers have also complained that the government has turned over error-riddled data for those Americans who are able to successfully purchase coverage on the exchange.
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have expressed outrage with persistent problems. The House Energy and Commerce Committee plans to hold a hearing on the website's issues during the week.
On Sunday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said the issue "has to be fixed."
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) have called for the resignation of Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius over the issues.
In a blog post on Sunday, HHS said it had called in "some of the best and brightest" to help iron out the technical glitches.
“We have updated the site several times with new code that includes bug fixes that have greatly improved the HealthCare.gov experience,” the agency said. “Today, more and more individuals are successfully creating accounts, logging in, and moving on to apply for coverage and shop for plans. We're proud of these quick improvements, but we know there's still more work to be done.”
The White House said the president will also stress that the Affordable Care Act is "much more than just a website" in the event.
"The product – quality, affordable insurance – is good, and if anything, the interest and demand at the launch of HealthCare.gov proves just how urgently Americans want and need access to these new health care options," the White House official argued.
Despite the technical issues that have plagued the opening weeks of the new exchanges, the White House has been eager to highlight the intense interest in the marketplaces.
According to the White House, there have been more than 19 million unique visits to the website since its launch this month. And an administration official said Saturday that nearly a half million Americans have begun shopping for insurance on the site, although the White House did not announce how many of this individuals had successfully purchased coverage.

So we're paying to fly to D.C. these 20* or so people from places near and far? I trust hotels and meals are included, at our expense. **nononono*
*however many actually succeeded in signing up, that is.

What makes you think they will be people who actually managed to sign up?
Just curious.
-
That's how they were described ("individuals who have already enrolled in ObamaCare online") but I wouldn't bet on it.

Sebelius must go if Obama is to be seen as serious about fixing this Obamacare disaster. Wagon circling is what Bush did--waste of capital.

I guess we know why he chose the daytime to do this. If America had to see this in prime time, it would have been a national embarrassment. Bad sales pitches, orchestrated applause and plants like a pep rally, and even a (probably scripted) fainter.
Instead, most people are at work and missed this joke.

Obama is such a manufactured fake! :nometalk:

Senator Ted Cruz
Today President Obama will draw the media’s attention to a handful of persons who have applied for Obamacare while ignoring the untold number of Americans who are losing the plans they liked because of Obamacare.
Yesterday, Kaiser Health joined numerous other news outlets by confirming a new victim of Obamacare: Americans who are receiving cancellation notices from their insurers due to the Affordable Act.
“Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies,” Kaiser Health News reported. “The main reason insurers offer is that the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. Most are ending policies sold after the law passed in March 2010. At least a few are cancelling plans sold to people with pre-existing medical conditions.”
President Obama is sure to promise Americans that with more time, taxpayer money, and patience the law will perform better. Its failings, however, are not limited to its website or its rollout.
We already know Obamacare can’t live up to its promises. President Obama promised Americans that their premiums would go down, taxes would stay low, millions of jobs would be created, and if they liked their healthcare plans, they could keep them. Instead, premiums are rising, taxes are higher, the economy is sputtering, and people are losing their plans.
Obamacare is the nation’s biggest job killer and stands in the way of our country’s economic growth and prosperity. It should be defunded and repealed. President Obama should hear the pleas from the untold number of Americans who are losing their jobs, wages, and healthcare plans, and Congress should act immediately to stop Obamacare from inflicting any more damage on the country on our hard-working citizens.

Kind of like the rest of our political system.

Kind of like the rest of our political system.
That's utter nonsense. Our political system - a constitutional representative republic, as envisioned by the founders - is just fine and is no way a "manufactured fake." The human beings who assume political office are imperfect, however, as this entire fallen world.

The typical liberal excuse for the Marxist at the top of their food chain, is that "everybody's doing it."
It's a cheap way to excuse the malfeasance of the left.
A game they all play to lay the blame for what their leaders do, on the rest of us.

A lot of my ideology comes from a left way of thinking, but I don't think the left wing of our government properly represents left wing thinkers in this country. A lot of you probably feel similar(ish) about the right wing.

We believe we ought to try CONSTITUTIONAL government again since we haven't done that for quite some time now and, beyond that, just don't like crooks no matter what letter happens to be behind their name!

I have a problem with equating the two parties, no matter who tries to do it.
There are many honorable people with R's behind their names, and absolutely NONE in Washington with a "D" behind it.
My first comment is accurate.
It is a typical LEFTIST excuse when their guys break laws, spit on the Constitution, live immoral lives, and most of all, LIE, that all politicians are bad.
It's a false equivalency to make up for the fact that they support policies that are disastrous.
And ALL leftists support horrific policies.
ALL of them.

Well said! I agree completely!
That's why, when a guy who claims to be a leftist comes on a conservative site declaring that he doesn't support the god of leftist policy, Barack Obama, it is healthy to be skeptical.
Telling the truth isn't exactly what one could call a liberal strong suit.... ^-^
