SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The fight to end the coronavirus' devastation throughout California's heartland extends to the Mexico border, where migrant farmworkers heading north to pick lettuce, broccoli, carrots and other crops are offered a vaccination as soon as they enter the United States.

California is vaccinating farmworkers on a large scale by taking the shots to where they live and work, protecting a population disproportionately hard hit by the pandemic. Advocates said an initial slow rollout in California has gained momentum in the past few weeks as the flow of vaccine increases and mobile clinics pop up at farms and food processing centers.

Farmworkers are particularly vulnerable because they live in crowded bunkhouses and eat together in dining halls. Those who toil outdoors often travel to the fields together in packed vans or buses. Others work in bustling packing warehouses.

1. Contrary to the stereotype, in the real world many migrant farm workers are US citizens and legal immigrants. Those who worked for my Dad all were.

2. Migrant farm workers are not isolated from society. Whether legally or illegally present in the US, infected migrant worker can spread the infection in whatever stores, restaurants, churches, and etc. they frequent. IOW, everyone they chance to meet benefit from their being vaccinated.

3. California has 5-6 million doses of vaccine sitting in storage awaiting use, so there is no scarcity of vaccines in California.

4. Every vaccinated person advances California toward herd immunity, regardless of the vaccinated person's citizenship or immigration status. So even vaccinating someone illegally present benefits the people of the state.

Illegal aliens should not be allowed to work.  Not on the farm, not at the drive-thru, not as your plumber, carpenter or sheet-rocker.

The migrant farm worker is no different than anyone else.   Let them wait their turn.

That the Feds should deport any illegals among these farm workers is obvious, except in the Biden MalAdministration. Until the Feds do deport them, their being here illegally does not change the accuracy of:
