Having a dispute with a relative and the store over this!
Thought I'd ask folks who don't know me, their opinion.
I shop online for food.
(I have COPD and can't walk for more than 20 feet at a time.)
Last night I placed my usual weekly online order.
Here's the problem: I ordered from the first picture which I thought was a pound of glazed ham for price shown.

I didn't give much thought about the quarter ham part.
Figured it was something like a quarter horse.
(I'm an old man ) lol
Did the rest of my shopping, paid for the order and went to bed.
(The order at that time was $39.00)
I get my order this morning and to my surprise I get a 5 pound ham!
The picture I ordered from the night before had been changed to this.

So my bill went from $39.00 and some odd cents to $55.00 while I was sleeping!
People are saying I am dumb to think I would receive a big ham for $5.92 when I tell them that that is Not the issue.
I thought I was buying sliced ham at $5.00 a pound!
They also say the picture of a whole ham should have been a clue.
That isn't true because anytime you are buying sliced meat on line they show a whole picture of the meat!
I just want others opinions on this because everyone I know says that I should have known better!?

FWIW @mrclose I think they should honor your request for a refund.
-
The ad was very poorly written. But it does say 'quarter ham'. If the ham is from Virginia, keep it. Divide it into sections, and freeze what you can't use right away.

Quarter horse, Quarter ham.
I'm an old guy .. I'm not exactly a shopping pro.
You saw where the advertisement changed?

Trying to get a human that speaks clearly or getting a human at all is impossible!
The human I did get could only say .. "That's how it is" and a chat bot said exactly the same thing!

That's a lot of sammiches, right there.

If this a big chain, and you feel like spending the time, you might try hoisting your complaint up the ladder in their corpoorate customer service.
What might hurt you, is if a flyer was posted before your purchase, saying that ad was a typo. But if you tell them you are a loyal customer who spends $1000's there annually, they'll likely want to make you happy.
Good Luck.
