“These hotels could be doing a fine tourist business right now, but they are being lazy, and a sure-thing 100-percent occupancy on the city dime, and without having to provide traditional hotel services, is just too good a deal to pass up,” said Nicole Gelinas, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute.
So it's not like they're being forced into this. Shameful.

Is it a crime for politicians to pay off people to hide the truth from the public because an election is coming up?
By Jack Hellner

What if Congress spends $17 million to hide sexual harassment and other claims from the public by members and their staff?

That is 130 more times than the $130,000 President Trump paid of his own money for a nuisance lawsuit.

Congress paid out $17 million in settlements. Here’s why we know so little about that money.

Two things have become painfully clear on Capitol Hill this week: Lawmakers and staffers say sexual harassment is “rampant” – but even members of Congress have no idea just how widespread the problem is.

The controversial and sensitive issue has taken center stage in Congress this week, with female lawmakers making fresh allegations of sexual harassment against unnamed members who are currently in office, and the unveiling of a new bill on Wednesday to change how sexual harassment complaints are reported and resolved. On Thursday, a woman shared her story of being groped and kissed without her consent by Sen. Al Franken in 2006.

So far, there’s been little specific data to help illuminate just how pervasive sexual harassment is on Capitol Hill, but one figure has emerged: the total that the Office of Compliance, the office that handles harassment complaints, has paid to victims.

On Thursday, the Office of Compliance released additional information indicating that it has paid victims more than $17 million since its creation in the 1990s. That includes all settlements, not just related to sexual harassment, but also discrimination and other cases.

Congress essentially stole $17 million in taxpayer money that we know of, to hide stuff from the public. Which politicians and staff members were sued? We don't know. Most of the media clearly let this theft and coverup slide because they didn't harass Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and other career politicians to tell them the amounts that were paid and for whose benefit. How many of these politicians and staffers are still on the payroll? How serious were the charges? We don't know.

Number of 'Diversity' Migrants Getting Citizenship Surges
Published May 06, 2024 at 10:09 AM EDT

The number of naturalized immigrants who legally entered the United States as part of a national diversity visa program has increased in recent years, but the rate of entry has remained relatively steady dating to the 2020 fiscal year.

The U.S. State Department annually administers the Diversity Visa (DV) program, intended to admit up to 55,000 migrants from countries with low immigration rates and allow them to gain citizenship through naturalization. Visa numbers differ from the number of naturalized citizens based on the different processes utilized to attain citizenship, which in some instances can take years.

Roughly 878,500 people were naturalized and became U.S. citizens in the 2023 fiscal year that annually begins October 1, according to data from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Naturalization ceremonies in fiscal 2022 and 2023 comprised 24 percent of all naturalizations over the past decade, according to the data.''

Plate Climatology Theory Overview

The overall theory contends that Increased tectonic activity, either locally or globally, equates to more heat and chemically charged heated fluid release from active geological features into oceans, sub-glacial polar areas, and atmosphere.  This altered heat and fluid input has in past, and still to this day acts to significantly effect Earth’s climate and climate related events.

To describe this new theory, the term Plate Climatology is designated. The theory was first formally introduced on October 7, 2014, after 10 years of research (see link below) and published at the 2016 American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting (see link below). The Plate Climatology Theory was published and presented on January 13, 2016 at the American Meteorological Society Conference in New Orleans, LA. ...

On January 6, did America’s highest-level military officers willfully disobey their Commander in Chief?
By Andrea Widburg

Even the January 6 committee eventually conceded that President Trump had authorized the National Guard to be deployed on January 6. However, as events unfolded at the Capitol, the National Guard was nowhere to be seen. It showed up hours later, only after the situation was such that Trump and his supporters were tarred as “insurrectionists” and targeted for arrests. Now, a whistleblower has come forward to allege that one of Trump’s problems was that military leadership, starting with Mark Milley, made the deliberate decision to ignore Trump’s order. That’s court-martial stuff, along with the possibility of domestic terrorism and, ironically, insurrection.

Whenever thousands of people descend on a city, there should be a large police force in place. And when hundreds of thousands come to D.C. to complain about an election outcome, the National Guard should be there. And yet the troops weren’t. Here’s what we know.

Despite being warned about potential agitators and violence, Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser refused to put the National Guard on standby. We also know that even the improperly convened, hyper-partisan, and corrupt January 6 committee acknowledged that Trump approved deploying the National Guard days before the event, greenlighting its immediate deployment in case things got out of hand.

Will that include Trump?  Don't you think he should be held accountable?

Not voting for him is a start.

White House contemplating welcoming refugees from Gaza: Report
Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., joined 'Fox & Friends' to discuss the Biden administration's handling of unrest stemming from the war in Gaza as police arrive on multiple college campuses overnight.

Commentators criticized the Biden administration for considering plans to accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza.

Senior officials across several federal U.S. agencies have discussed in recent weeks the details of potential options to accept Palestinians from Gaza who have immediate family members who are American citizens or permanent U.S. residents, according to internal federal documents reported by CBS News. One proposal involves using the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program to bring Palestinians with U.S. connections who have escaped Gaza and entered neighboring Egypt.

"In terms of the refugee admissions program ... we are constantly evaluating policy proposals to further support Palestinians who are family members of American citizens and may want to come to the United States," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during Wednesday afternoon's briefing.

A wave of commentators on Tuesday evening condemned the proposals outlined in the CBS report.
